Power Delivery wall chargers are the future of wall chargers, and what we mean by that is that most wall chargers in the future are going to mainly use USB-C ports. The reason for this is that the USB-C port is standard, and it’s able to replace the Micro-USB port on many devices such as Android smartphones, which it has already done. More so, USB-C port can replace USB-A ports, as they offer faster charging and connectivity, and it’s one of the main reasons why we’re seeing many wall chargers only use USB-C ports and not any USB-A ports.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this RAVPower PC145 Dual 65W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger. The great part about Power Delivery charging is how it’s able to be used more universally.

Power

Output Charging:

The charging from this RAVPower Power Delivery wall charger is powerful and the other great part is that it’s easy to understand. The wall charger has two USB-C Power Delivery ports, and the charger has an overall max output of 65W. Each of the ports shares the 65W max output, so it does matter what port you use to charge a laptop.

In our case, we used one USB-C Power Delivery port to charge a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop, which is a USB-C Power Delivery compatible laptop. With the other port, we charged a Samsung Galaxy S8, a Power Delivery compatible smartphone. The Lenovo laptop was able to charge at 30W, which is its max charging speed, the S8 was able to fast charge.

So you’re able to fast charge laptops and smartphones at the same time with this RAVPower wall charger. Also, just a reminder, you can fast charge iPhones with this charger when you use a Lightning to USB-C cable as the newer iPhone models such as the iPhone 12 are Power Delivery compatible.

With a 65W PD charging speed, you have a wider range of laptops that you’re able to charge with this RAVPower charger, as some laptops require more charging power. You will be able to charge most Power Delivery chargeable laptops with this charger, such as Macbooks, too.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this wall charger is tiny. The charger has a length/width of 2.2 inches and a thickness of 1.2 inches. The weight of the charger is 4.2 ounces. This smaller form factor is made possible with the use of a GaN chip, which can take the place of many parts in a wall charger, while still delivering tons of power but having a smaller size. So this laptop and smartphone charger can easily fit into your pocket.

Functional Components:

It’s just like using any other wall charger, with this one having a foldable plug that simply needs to be plugged into an AC outlet, it’s powered on and ready to use. The wall charger has a blue LED power light at the front to show that it’s powered.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this wall charger is what you can expect from RAVPower, with it having a solid build that is ready for daily use and traveling. The foldable plug ensures that the AC plug won’t break even if you fit it into the tightest of spaces.

Tech:

The charger does not heat up, it’s one of the other benefits of GaN tech, as it makes the charger run cool even if you’re charging at higher speeds for a long duration.

Reliability

At first, when USB-C Power Delivery was being implemented with our portable devices, it was not as reliable as you could only use Power Delivery charging for a select few devices. At this point, you’re going to want to own a Power Delivery wall charger like this RAVPower 65W one, as you may want to charge a laptop with it, and at the same time, you can also charge your smartphone with it.

This RAVPower charger is first a laptop charger due to its 65W output, and with an output like this, you can even charge two laptops at the same time. To add to easy charging with two USB-C ports, this wall charger also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
