Wall chargers are the type of charging electronics that most people are familiar with and that makes sense as most of the portable devices that we purchase come with wall chargers. There are two charging ports on this car charger. The top of the charger has a standard charging speed of 5V/2.1A. While the bottom port uses Quick Charge 3.0. The use of a Quick Charge port with a car charger is one of the most important features for a car charger to have if you’re someone that owns a Quick Charge compatible smartphone.

The reason for that is because you’re able to have fast charging for your Quick Charge smartphone while you’re driving. At this time, you’re not using your smartphone and Quick Charge speeds only happen when you’re smartphone’s screen is off and not being used. This is done so that your phone doesn’t overheat.

As a result, not using your smartphone along with Quick Charge being used is a perfect combination. In the image above, we were charging a Samsung Galaxy S6, which is a Quick Charge 2.0 compatible smartphone, but since Quick Charge is backward compatible, it still fast charges.

The standard port on this charger is useful for standard devices that are not Quick Charge compatible and will charge them at a fast enough speed. At the same time, there are two standard ports on this Tattu car charger, because if you’re charging a standard smartphone with the Quick Charge port, then that will also result in a 5V/2.1A charging speed.

Size and Weight:

Like any car charger, this Tattu car charger is very small. It has a length of 2.7 inches, and width/height of 1 inch. The weight of the charger is 2 Ounces. It’s not a flush-fit car charger but it’s still very low-profile when you connect it to a 12Volt outlet and stays out of the way.

Functional Components:

 

When it comes to using this car charger, it’s just slightly easier to use it than other car chargers. The reason for that is because the USB-A charging ports are at an angle facing up. Therefore, you have a clearer view of where you have to connect your charging cable. It’s something small, but we found it to be very helpful for the charging ports to have an easier access point, rather than just having a 90° angle straight out.

Once the car charger is connected, there’s a Blue LED light that turns on from within the car charger so you can more easily see the car charger once it’s night time. The light isn’t disruptive in this case as it’s within the car charger.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this is very good, and if you’re someone that fears that the charging port segment of the car charger is going to rip off if you pull on the charger too hard, well that won’t happen here. That’s because this Tattu car charger is nearly one single piece, there are just two parts that are split in the middle.

The receptacles on the sides and front are quite durable too.

Tech:

If you’re charging a Quick Charge compatible smartphone and a standard phone at the same time, the car charger doesn’t get too warm. It does get warm though, but charging is slowed down to make sure that it doesn’t overheat.

Reliability

This Tattu car charger no matter what USB device you’re charging is very reliable, and that’s not only because of its standard charging and use of Quick Charge. It’s also because of its extremely low price. You’re getting a very well-built 2-port Quick Charge car charger that top brands would have priced at a much higher cost.

Also, if you do own a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, then this car charger does end up being more reliable as you’re actually able to use the fast charging tech.
