With time moving forward there are new smartphones released and each time a new smartphone is released we’re all curious about what the specs are.

The Galaxy S7 is yet another upgrade from Samsung’s previous smartphone, the S6. One of the most important upgrades that a smartphone could have is its battery capacity as we always want a longer battery life for our smartphone. That is the case here, as the Galaxy S7 has a battery capacity of 3,000mAh in battery life that could potentially last you all day.

That said, what if you’re someone that uses your S7 constantly?

Whether it’s for entertainment, work, school or any other activities that you can do with that supercomputer that can fit into your pocket, the power might run out throughout your day.

That is why portable chargers exist, as they can provide power to your phone and other devices while you’re on-the-go, however, it can be difficult to have to hold a power bank and a smartphone at the same time. That is why battery cases like this Trianium battery case exist so you don’t have to care about holding a completely separate object.

Let’s see if using a battery case with your Galaxy S7 is the best option for charging on-the-go.

Power

Power Capacity:

Battery cases are just like portable chargers it’s just that they have the form factor of the smartphone that they’re built for, so they have a power capacity just as a portable charger does.

The power capacity of this Trianium Galaxy S7 battery case is 4,500mAh and that is quite good. As a battery case that has a very high power capacity will result in a larger size and a heavier weight for the battery case.

3.7 x 4,500 = 16,650 / 5 = 3,330

Number of Full Charges

1.1 Full Charges

The Output power capacity that you’re actually able to use once the capacity goes through its conversion is 3,330mAh and that is the perfect amount of power to have available when it comes to charging the Galaxy S7.

That’s because it has a 3,000mAh battery capacity and so this battery case is able to charge the S7 to its full power at least once, which is able to give you full days use of power.

Output Charging:

The output charging speed for the battery case isn’t the fastest charging speed that you’re able to get when it comes to charging speeds with portable chargers.

That said, when it comes to battery cases though, they usually do have slow charging and this one is no different. As it has a charging speed of 5V/1.6A and even though it won’t charge your Galaxy S7 at its max charging speed, it’s still able to charge it quite quickly.

In order to have a max charging speed for the Galaxy S7, you have to use a Quick Charge charging electronics and the battery case simply does not feature that.

Input Charging:

When it comes to recharging this battery case you have to use its USB-C input port and it has the same charging speed as the Output charging speed, which is 5V/1.6A.

You’re able to recharge the battery case while the battery case charges your smartphone and have both the battery case and your Galaxy S7 at their full power at the same time. This is called pass-through charging.

Design

Size and Weight:

If you plan on purchasing a battery case, then you must first realize that this isn’t the type of case that you’re purchasing for its slim form factor and that’s because it doesn’t have a slim form factor at all. The use of a battery and other components makes a battery case larger, thicker and heavier than just your regular case.

This Trianium Galaxy S7 battery case has a length of 6.1 inches, a width of 3 inches and a thickness of 0.6 inches. The weight of the battery case is 4.2 ounces and when you add on the weight of the Galaxy S7 itself then you end up with a total weight of about 9 ounces that you’re going to be portable with.

Overall, can this battery case fit into your pocket? Yes.

Will it feel the same as a normal case? No.

It’s definitely thicker than most regular cases, but you’re purchasing this battery case for the powering capabilities that it offers.

Functional Components:

On the functional component side, this battery case has all of the right precise cut-outs for all of its functional parts.

At the bottom, there’s the headphone jack hole and the battery case comes with a headphone extender so you can easily plug in your earbuds or headphones. Also at the bottom is where there’s the Micro-USB input port to recharge the battery case too.

At the back of the battery case is where the power button is to begin charging and there are also 4 White LED power capacity indicators.

Build

Structure and Material:

It’s a very thick battery case and in this case, when it comes to its physical build quality that is a good thing. That’s because it makes the battery case shockproof which is able to protect your Galaxy S7 in the event of a fall.

That said, this battery case is also able to protect the screen, however, the lifted bezel from the case is quite small and so it doesn’t exactly provide max protection when it does come to falling flat on its screen.

The best thing that we recommend is pairing a screen protector with this battery case.

Tech:

On the tech side, this battery case does a great job as it doesn’t overheat during charging and this is true for even long-term charging times.

Reliability

It’s a battery case that’s definitely real thick and adds some weight to your S8. However, the portability isn’t really what you’re focusing on here as battery cases are supposed to be larger than normal cases because of their use of batteries.

What makes this reliable is its use of enough power capacity to charge a Galaxy S7 to its full power at least once and having a reliable case to do it, too.

Summary:

Power:

There’s enough power to charge your Galaxy S7 to its full power at least once. It doesn’t have the fastest charging speed possible when it does come to charging your S7, but it’s quite good when it comes to recharging the battery case anyway.

Design:

Most battery cases, if not all, are thick and large. The same is true here as this Trianium battery case as it has a large thickness and adds some thickness to your smartphone. It’s at least easy to use with its functional components.

Build:

The build quality is really good with the battery case being able to withstand falls onto the hard ground. The only setback is that the bezel to protect the screen isn’t too large.

Reliability:

It’s a reliable battery case that is able to offer enough power to your S7 and protection too.
