When it comes to battery cases there are quite a few companies that sell them.

That is because they can be difficult to make and most of the time you have to be very careful from where you purchase your battery case from as most brands don’t have the best quality.

That said, there are battery cases for nearly any new smartphone that is released and that’s the case for the Galaxy S8.

Trianium, a brand that is known for making battery cases has released their Galaxy S8 battery case and this is one brand that you’re most able to trust out on the market. Let’s see what makes this 4,500mAh battery case so useful and just how reliable this battery case really is with one of the best flagship phones on the market.

Power

Power Capacity:

A battery case is basically a portable charger, it’s just that it’s in the shape of the smartphone that it’s used for which makes it a whole lot easier to use.

This Trianium battery case has a power capacity of 4,500mAh and that is really good when you consider that the Galaxy S8 has a 3,000mAh battery capacity and also the initial power capacity of the battery case is going to go through a conversion. As a result, the initial 4,500mAh isn’t really what you’re going to be receiving.

3.7 x 4,500 = 16,650 / 5 = 3,330

1.1 Full Charges

Overall, you’re going to be receiving about 3,330mAh of Output power capacity that you can use to charge your Galaxy S8.

That means you’re able to charge your S8 to its full power at least once and still have just a little bit of power left over to use.

This is a great power capacity that can very well last you about two days of full use with your Galaxy S8, as you use your S8’s full battery power and then recharge it to full power with this Trianium battery case for one more full day’s use of power.

Output Charging:

Of course, this Trianium battery case uses a USB-C port and it has an Output power of 5V/1.8A. It’s definitely not the fastest charging speed the Galaxy S8 can receive, as the max standard charging speed for an S8 is 5V/3.0A. Also, the max charging speed of the S8 is done through Quick Charge.

That said, the main reason that most battery cases like this Trianium battery case have a slower charging speed than a portable charger with equal power capacity is that of their form factor.

The battery case is a…. case and therefore having a fast charging speed can result in overheating which can affect the smartphone. So there’s definitely a reason for the slow charging and we think that at least not having a 5V/1.0A charging speed is a good thing.

Input Charging:

Same as the Output charging, the battery case is recharged through its USB-C input port and has a recharge speed of 5V/1.8A. So long as you use a 2 Amp USB wall charger or higher, you’re going to be able to recharge this battery case at its max charging speed.

Also, you’re able to recharge this battery case and charge your S8 at the same time and that is known as pass-through charging.

Design

Size and Weight:

Just like most battery cases, this one is indeed going to add some weight and thickness to your smartphone. Well, the thickness of this battery case is 0.8 inches and that is quite normal when it comes to battery cases. You’re going to feel an increase of thickness when you place it into your pocket but it’s nothing too unmanageable.

The weight of the battery case alone is 4.5 ounces and when you place that together with the weight of the Galaxy S8 which is 5.4 ounces, you end up with a total weight of 9.9 ounces. That’s about half a pound.

Functional Components:

The cutouts for all the functional parts of your S8 are there. At the back is where there’s a large depression for the camera and so you’re able to take pictures with the battery case. Also on the back is where the power button and 4 White LED power capacity indicators are.

At the bottom of the battery case is where there’s a headphone jack hole and the battery case comes with a headphone adapter that you can use to plug into the Galaxy S8’s battery case and then connect your headphones into the adapter for easier access. Also at the bottom is where the USB-C input port is for the recharging the battery case.

Build

Structure and Material:

The question that is most likely the most asked with battery cases is whether or not it’s able to protect the smartphone as well. The answer, most of the time, is a “No”. In this case, however, this Trianium battery case does actually provide protection.

That’s because it covers all of its sides and the battery case even has a bezel that protects the screen in the event of a fall.

Tech:

On the tech side, the battery case is responsive with its power button and the power capacity indicators work how they’re supposed to. The best part is that there’s no heating at all when you’re charging your S8.

Reliability

This is one of the most reliable battery cases for the S8 as it offers enough power to charge it to full power at least once.

Charging may not be the fastest but that’s mostly for build and design reasons. Also, this isn’t the best case if you want the slimmest form factor as it’s a battery case and adds quite a bit of thickness and some weight too.

If you want the most seamless type of styling then we recommend dbrand.

It will add size and weight, but that’s the case with most battery cases.

Build:

One of the best-built battery cases on the market as it offers protection for the body and the screen of the S8.
