We already reviewed a power bank that is identical to this UGREEN power bank: the PB172 portable charger that featured a built-in USB-C cable. This is also a PB172 power bank, but this one has a built-in Lightning cable, and basically, everything else about this portable charger is the same.

So if you’re an iPhone user or have other Apple devices that use the Lightning port to charge, this is a reliable power bank to own. We’re going to make this review a little shorter than the original PB172 power bank review, as it features basically the same charging tech, just with a different cable.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this UGREEN power bank is 10,000mAh, enough for charging some smartphones to full power about two times. If we’re talking about the latest phones on the market, though, then this power bank may only be able to charge those phones to full power only a single time. That’s because most modern phones have huge batteries; such as the OnePlus 9 Pro having a 4,500mAh battery, the Galaxy S21 has a 5,000mAh battery, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max 3,687mAh battery that may seem small, but when you combine that with Power Delivery fast charging, the power capacity of a power bank may dwindle.

Output Charging:

We mentioned before, you’re going to get the same charging experience from this UGREEN power bank as you would with the USB-C PB172 model. That’s because this one also has a 20W USB-C Power Delivery port, a Quick Charge 3.0 USB-A port, and the only difference is that this charger has a Lightning built-in cable. The Lightning cable has a 20W Power Delivery charging speed, so you’re able to fast charge iPhones with it.

You can charge three devices simultaneously with this power bank, which is impressive considering it’s a 10,000mAh power bank, and that capability is mostly available for 20,000mAh+ portable chargers.

Input Charging:

Recharging this UGREEN power bank can only be done via the USB-C Power Delivery port, and you can charge the power bank at 20W via a PD wall charger.

Design

Size and Weight:

This UGREEN power bank has the same size as the USB-C model, with this one also having a length of 4 inches, a width of 2 inches, and a thickness of 0.8 inches. It’s easy to place the power bank into your pocket because the built-in cable fits completely into the charger.

Functional Components:

This is just like using any other power bank; however, when it comes to charging from the built-in Lightning cable, you have to press the power button to begin charging. The ports automatically start charging when you plug a device in.

Build

Structure and Material:

The power bank is built very well, and if you’ve tried UGREEN’s other products, you can find that’s the case with their products. The only part of the power bank that you have to worry about breaking is the built-in cable.

Tech:

The charger does get a little warm if you’re using fast charging.

Reliability

This Lightning cable UGREEN PB172 power bank is very reliable if you’re an iPhone user and still reliable if you have Android devices that charge via USB-C because it still has a 20W USB-C Power Delivery port.

If you own a USB-C smartphone, then we recommend going with the built-in USB-C cable model.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is just enough for most modern smartphones, and it great for iPhones because the power bank features a built-in Lightning cable with a Power Delivery output.

Design:

It’s easy to take the power bank anywhere you want, and the cable doesn’t get in the way because it fits into the power bank and is fully concealed.

Build:

The charger has a great build, and teh only part you should worry about breaking is the built-in cable.

Reliability:

This specific model for UGREEN’s PB172 is most reliable for iPhone users because it has a built-in Lightning cable.
