A Power Delivery desktop charger is easily one of the most reliable types of chargers that you can own. These chargers have very high power outputs and use many ports that allow you to charge multiple devices simultaneously, even with the capability of charging one or two devices while you charge other devices. That said, portability may be a concern as desktop chargers don’t have built-in AC adapters and instead use a power cord.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this UGREEN 100W 4-port Power Delivery desktop charger. This is likely one of the most versatile chargers you can own, especially if you have multiple USB-C chargeable devices, which this charger aims for.

Power

Output Charging:

Charging from this UGREEN desktop charger is easy to understand and great to use. The charger has three USB-C Power Delivery ports and one USB-A port that features Quick Charge. USB-C 1 and USB-C 2 are the ports that can output 100W, while USB-C 2 can only output 20W max.

If you’re only charging a single device using either USB-C 1 or 2, you’re able to use the total 100W of charging power, but the more devices you charge simultaneously, the more power is split up between the ports. A 100W charge rate can charge most laptops, though. Such as charging, two devices, with one on USB-C 1 and one on USB-C 2, gets you a 45W split of power between each of the ports, with 45W being enough to charge two laptops simultaneously.

Even charging from all four devices simultaneously is incredible because USB-C 1 will get you 45W, USB-C 2 30W, USB-C 3 10.5W, and the USB-A 10.5W. So we gave it a test by actually charging from all four ports at the same time.

We had a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 charging from USB-C 1, on USB-C 2, we had a Surface Go tablet charging, and on USB-C 3 and the USB-A port, we had a Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 9 charging. The Lenovo laptop was able to charge at about 25W, which is about the same charge rate as the original 65W charger (the laptop doesn’t charge at 65W, but instead, it fluctuates between 20W to 40W).

The Surface Go was able to charge at 20W, and the two Samsung phones were standard charging, which was to be expected as USB-C 3, and the USB-A port would only output 10.5W when charging four devices simultaneously.

Design

Size and Weight:

Since this is a desktop charger that uses a power cord and has four ports, you can’t expect the same ease of portability as a wall charger. The charger itself is small, though; it’s just the power cord that makes it not as portable, as the charger portion has a length/width of 3.4 inches and a thickness of about 1 inch. So it won’t be taking up much space at all on your desk.

Functional Components:

Right out of the box, the charger portion and the power cord are separate, so you have to plug the power cord into the back of the charger and then plug the power cord into an outlet. The only part that we think this charger would benefit from would be a LED power light to show that it’s on and ready to use, especially considering that you’re paying a premium price.

All the ports are on the same side, with each of the ports labeled.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this desktop charger is what you can expect from UGREEN in general and would be a solid product that does not feel cheap.

Tech:

The charger does get warm if you’re using higher wattage and definitely if you’re charging four devices simultaneously. It’s nothing to worry about, though, as a charger getting warm is typical as heat will always be generated.

Reliability

If you heavily rely on portable USB-C devices, this UGREEN 100W desktop charger is for you, and the better part is that it’s also a way to futureproof your charging needs as it has such a high 100W max output.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is optimal with a 100W output available to use for a single device when charging alone or spread out across multiple devices when charging devices simultaneously.

Design:

The charger has a small size and won’t take up much space, and the usage of a power cord may be a benefit because you can place it closer to the devices you’re charging.

Build:

The charger has a strong build and only gets warm when charging multiple devices or whenever you’re charging at higher outputs.

Reliability:

This is a must if you want a more direct access USB-C Power Delivery charger that can charge most USB-C devices and charge multiple ones, too. It’s easier to access because you have more freedom on where you want to place the charger.
