USB-C wall chargers are practically the standard type of charger because so many devices we use are now compatible with charging via USB-C. Now you can use a single charger to charge multiple devices, including being able to charge a laptop, phone, and tablet simultaneously.

This review looks at this UGREEN Nexode 65W USB-C wall charger; it uses two USB-C ports and one USB-A port with a 65W max output. The design is unlike most other chargers, so let’s see what it offers.

Power

Output Charging:

As mentioned, this UGREEN Nexode charger has two USB-C Power Delivery ports and one USB-A Quick Charge port. The charger has a 65W max output, and you can use the full 65W output if you’re only charging a single device via USB-C 1 or USB-C 2. A total 65W charge rate can charge most USB-C laptops at maximum speed. In our test, we could charge a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 at its max charging speed.

When charging two devices simultaneously, you get a 45W output from USB-C 1 and an 18W output from USB-C 2, or it’d be USB-C 1 outputting 45W and USB-A outputting 18W if you’re charging from the USB-A port instead. In this case, we could charge the Lenovo laptop and fast charge a Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Charging three devices stretches out the max output, but you still get 45W from USB-C 1. However, USB-C 2 and the USB-A port will share a 17W output. In our test with charging three devices from this UGREEN Nexode charger, we could charge the Lenovo Flex 5 laptop via USB-C 1, fast charge a Galaxy Note 9 via USB-C 2, and standard charge an LG G7 with the USB-A port. Surprisingly, the Note 9 could fast charge, but the USB-C PD port takes priority over the USB-A port, outputting more power.

This UGREEN Nexode wall charger has an excellent power function by making sure that USB-C 1 will always be able to output either 65W or 45W and no less. This is important because most USB-C laptops require a 45W Power Delivery charging speed.

This UGREEN charger also features Programmable Power Supply (PPS) charging which can charge compatible phones faster. However, you can only use PPS if you’re a single device from USB-C 1 or USB-C 2. In our test, we charged a Samsung Galaxy S20 via USB-C 1, which could super fast charge at 25W. We then charged the Lenovo laptop and the Galaxy S20 simultaneously, and the phone could only fast charge at 18W.

Design

Size and Weight:

The elongated form factor of this UGREEN wall charger is better than most others because it prevents it from covering surrounding outlets when plugged in. The charger has a length of 2.5 inches, a width of 1.5 inches, and a thickness of 1.2 inches. It’s a tiny charger that simultaneously charges a laptop and other devices. The foldable plug does make charging easier.

The small size is thanks to GaN, which makes the charger use fewer components but allows it to output more charging power while still being small and lightweight.

Functional Components:

Using this UGREEN Nexode wall charger is just like any other one on the market; all you have to do is unfold the plug, plug it in, and be ready to use it. The one thing missing is a power light, usually found at the front of the wall charger. Most wall chargers have a power light that turns on when you plug the charger into an outlet; that said, it’s not a big deal, as some consumers complain that the light is bothersome when trying to sleep.

Build

Structure and Material:

This UGREEN charger fits UGREEN standards, with the charger having a solid build and the foldable plug feeling sturdy.

Tech:

The charger gets a bit warm during charging, as this was when we charged three devices simultaneously, but that’s normal. As long as the charger doesn’t get hot, you’re good.

Reliability

If you have a USB-C chargeable laptop, as we did, and you want to be able to charge your phone or tablet or any other devices, then this UGREEN Nexode 65W charger is excellent. Port selection is plentiful, charging is powerful, and power allocation when charging multiple devices simultaneously is spot on.

Summary:

Power:

You can use the total 65W of Power Delivery when charging a single device, but that output is split when charging multiple devices. USB-C 1 will output 45W at a minimum when charging various devices. This charger also features PPS for charging certain phones faster than regular Power Delivery.

Design:

The charger has an elongated design that makes its placement more convenient because it prevents covering up surrounding outlets.

Build:

The charger has a strong build and only gets warm when charging two or three devices, but that’s completely normal when it comes to charging in general.

Reliability:

If you have a USB-C chargeable laptop, this charger is automatically reliable and even more reliable with its two USB-C ports and one USB-A Quick Charge port. It also has PPS to charge some phones even faster than standard Power Delivery.
