Fast charging your smartphone while you’re driving is a lot more useful than not charging it at all or using a standard port. That’s because you may be heavily using your phone at home, then you have to commute somewhere and you find that your battery is low. A fast charging car charger can charge a smartphone a lot faster by the time you reach your destination.
In this review, we’re taking a look at this UGREEN 18W Power Delivery and Quick Charge car charger. The car charger has everything you need for fast charging while you’re driving, but let’s take a closer look.
Power
Output Charging:
There are two ports on this car charger. One USB-C Power Delivery port and the other is a USB-A Quick Charge 3.0 port. The USB-C Power Delivery port is useful for basically fast charging most smartphones on the market as most modern smartphones are now Power Delivery compatible.
You’re also able to fast charge iPhones with the Power Delivery port, but remember that you’ll need a Lightning to USB-C cable for fast charging iPhones. The Power Delivery on UGREEN car charger has an 18W charging speed, enough for fast charging smartphones, but it’s not enough for charging most USB-C PD compatible laptops.
The other port is a Quick Charge 3.0 which is useful for fast charging Quick Charge compatible Android smartphones.
The main setback with this car charger is that it has a max output of 18W, which means that you’re only able to fast charge a single smartphone at a time. In our test, we connected an LG G7 to the Quick Charge port, and a Google Pixel to the USB-C Power Delivery port, both of them defaulted to standard charging, then we disconnected the LG G7, and the Google Pixel began fast charging.

It’s not too much of a problem though, as the car charger still uses two fast charging ports, and if you want to charge the phone as fast as possible, just charge it alone.
Design
Size and Weight:
Even with its use of two fast charging ports, this UGREEN 18W car charger is very small, and once you place it into your 12Volt car outlet the charger is barely noticeable.
Functional Components:
All you have to do is plug it into a 12Volt outlet in your car, and you’re ready to use it. The car charger has a blue power light inside of it that makes it a bit easier to spot the charger at night.
Build
Structure and Material:
The car charger has a great build, and in fact, it’s one of the best-built car chargers that we’ve seen. It’s made of Aluminum Alloy, and not plastic, and the car charger almost has a uni-body build which makes having it break apart less likely.
Tech:
With an 18W max output, the car charger does not overheat, and even when fast charging a single device for a long duration, the charger still does not heat up.
