(Last Updated On: April 29, 2019)

There aren’t many power banks that have 2 charging ports, have an average power capacity and also have powerful charging throughout both of its ports.

It’s simply something that not too many power banks do and that’s quite a disappointment. With that said, these average power banks still hold their place and value because of their ports and power capacity.

That’s what this Viivant power bank offers. At Charger Harbor, we’ve already reviewed one of Viivant’s Slim power banks and it was absolutely stellar as it had 2 charging ports with such a small size. This Viivant 10,000mAh power bank does an alright job, but it’s ultimately less amazing than its smaller version.

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of the Viivant power bank starts at 10,000mAh and it ends up having just a little bit better of a conversion rate than most power banks.

This is because the Max Output of the portable charger is 2.4A all at once, so that’s not too much power being outputted. As a result, the conversion rate will be around 75% and that means you’ll be able to use an Output power capacity of 7,500mAh.

Viivant for Smartphones

A 7,500mAh power capacity is a good amount of power for charging smartphones as you’ll be able to charge both high and low capacity smartphones alike to their max power multiple times over.

For example, charging a high capacity smartphone like an iPhone 7 Plus that has a capacity of 2,900mAh is going to be able to charge 2.5 full times when you use the full power of the Viivant power bank.

Viivant for Tablets

On the tablet charging side, the Viivant power bank still holds up quite well because the power capacity is able to charge most Mini tablets to full power.

Charging a Galaxy Tab will result in 1 full charge and still leave the power bank with some power to spare. Also, you can charge an iPad Mini 4 with its 5,124mAh of power capacity or an iPad Mini 2 with a 6,470mAh capacity to their full power once. Although, you’re basically going to be using all of the power that the power bank has to offer.

Output Charging:

Good Individual Charging Speeds

There are 2 charging ports, and that’s great as you can charge 2 devices at once. Each of the ports can charge at 5V/2.4A speeds and that’s great too, but what isn’t great is that the Max Output is 2.4A.

Not so Good Overall Charging Speeds

This means that if you’re charging 2 devices at once and the Max Output is being used, then each port will most likely have a charging speed of 5V/1.2A. A charging speed of 5V/1.2A is a slow charging speed for most devices and this is true for most smartphones and tablets.

As a result, it’s better to charge 1 devices at a time because you’ll be able to charge a device faster, as you’re making use of the 5V/2.4A charging power.

With that said, it’s disappointing that you won’t be able to make use of 2 charging ports with a very good experience and that’s because the Max Output of the power bank should have been higher.

Input Charging:

The Viivant power bank uses a Micro-USB Input port to recharge and the max recharge rate is 5V/2.0A, which means that you should use a 2 Amp wall charger to recharge the power bank the fastest.

This will result in a full recharge within 4-5 hours from a full depleted power capacity.

Design

Size and Weight:

Thankfully, even with its medium-range power capacity, it’s not too large and it actually manages well to hold in your hand and take this power bank while you’re on-the-go.

It has a length of 5.3 inches, a width of 2.8 inches, and a thickness of 0.6 inches. The weight is 7.5 ounces. So everything is tight and small, and it’s not too heavy either.

Functional Components:

All of the charging ports are on a single side, and that’s where you’ll find the 2 USB Ports and the Micro-USB Input port.

On the side of the power bank is where there are 4 very bright LED power capacity indicators. On top of the power bank is where there’s a power button.

Charging automatically starts when you plug your device into either of the USB ports, however, the LED indicators do not turn on and stay off unless you press the power button to check the power capacity that’s left.

Charging automatically stops when there is either no devices connected to the power bank or when your device is at 100% power. To begin charging again, you have to press the power button or unplug and replug your charging cable. So the power button holds just 2 main features:

  • Checking power capacity
  • To start charging again

Build

Structure and Material:

It’s a well-built power bank that is entirely made of plastic but it’s covered with a rubber material that encompasses the entire power bank.

There are just 2 separate pieces that make the power bank whole. Not a rugged power bank by any means, so don’t go dropping it.

With that said, this Viivant power bank does use a Protective Strip that covers the charging ports and this is something that not many power bank use. It’s not attached to the power bank itself, but you can place it over ports and it’ll provide light protection against dust and water.

Tech:

On the tech side, the Viivant power bank just has the necessary safety tech to keep you and your devices safe during charging.

Reliability

The reliability is very straightforward when it comes to this portable charger that’s because it has quite a high power capacity and 2 charging ports.

After that, there’s not much to it. Since the Max Output of 2.4A is very low for a 2 port power bank and charging 2 devices isn’t going to provide the most reliable charging speed for both devices that are charging.

So the reliability is lessened since charging a single device at a time is going to be the best route.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is enough to charge smartphones multiple times and you can even charge most tablets to their full power at least once. The Max Output charging speed could be better.

Design:

Not too large and not too heavy either which makes it a good power bank to take with you when you’re on-the-go. It’s also simple to use as charging starts automatically and the LED power capacity indicators don’t stay on to waste power.

Build:

It’s well built, and the use of a Protective strip can help keep the power bank safe for those times when you’re not using it and simply carrying it around.

Reliability:

Most of the reliability of the Viivant portable charger can be attributed to its power capacity, but not its charging speed.

Specs of the Viivant 10,000mAh Portable Charger:

  • Capacity:            Advertised: 10,000mAh            Output Capacity: 7,500mAh
  • Output:

Each Port: 5V/2.4A

Max Output: 2.4A

  • Input:   5V/2.0A Via Micro-USB Input
  • LED Power Indicators: 4 LED Dotted Power Capacity Indicators
  • Size: 5.3 x 2.8 x 0.6 inches
  • Weight: 7.5 Ounces

Conclusion:

This Viivant power bank is quite underwhelming in comparison to its smaller version that’s able to fit into your pocket and still has 2 charging ports and basically, has the charging abilities.

The increase in power capacity is the most useful aspect and the power bank still holds onto its portable roots with its small size and lightweight.
