(Last Updated On: March 13, 2018)

Wireless charging has been around for quite a while now and with the release of the iPhone X and the iPhone 8, it seems that people have just now discovered it. Not really surprising considering that a large percentage of people that own a smartphone have an iPhone and therefore all eyes and ears are always going to be on what Apple has to offer next.

The method of charging wirelessly is convenient and in a way, some people might see it better than wired charging as there are no wires going into your device. Instead, you just lay your phone on a wireless charger and let it handle the rest. This YooTech wireless charger is one the most well-known on the market and since wireless chargers have grown so rapidly, it’s a good idea to know what a wireless charger has to offer.

In this review, we’ll be covering what this YooTech wireless charging pad features with its charging power and also its user experience too. So let’s take a closer look.

Power

Output Charging:

Most of the time when it comes to charging, we’re just focused on Output charging that the charging electronic gives us. At least that’s mostly the case with USB wall chargers since we just stick them into an AC Wall Outlet. However, the input is very important when it comes to wireless chargers. That’s because depending on what USB wall charger that you use to provide the input power to your Wireless charger you’re going to have a slower or faster output charging.

This YooTech wireless charging pad can be used with either a USB wall charger that provides a charging output of 5V/1.0A or higher. However, we highly recommend that you use a wall charger that’s within either the 5V/2.0A range or higher. That’s because if you’re using a 1 Amp wall charger to power this wireless charger then the output charging speed that you get will be slower. In this case, you can very well only get a charging speed of 5V/0.5A, with the use of a 1 Amp wall charger and that is very slow.

Generally, though, wireless charging is actually slower than wired charging, if you didn’t know.

Using a 2 Amp wall charger with this YooTech wireless charger is a much better choice and that’s because this charger will be able to deliver an output charging speed of 5V/1.0A. We realize that it’s not exactly the fast charging sped that you can receive with wired charging but in terms of wireless charging it’s quite fast. At the same time, this YooTech wireless charging pad doesn’t deliver the fastest speed that a wireless charger can output.

As “Fast Wireless Charging” is reserved for those wireless chargers that are able to output charging a speed of 5V/2.0A. With those Fast Wireless chargers, you’re going to have to use a Quick Charge wall charger but this one doesn’t feature that charging tech.

Input Charging:

Make sure that you’re using a 5V/2.0A USB wall charger to power this wall charger, as you’re going to be able to take advantage of the full output charging power that it’s capable of. Another thing is that this wireless charger uses a Micro-USB input.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this wireless charger is one of the smallest that we’ve ever seen. That’s because it has a length and width of 3.7 inches making it circular. It has a thickness of 0.4 inches. The weight of the charge is 3.2 Ounces.

So placing this on your desk for work or at your computer table at home won’t take up a lot of space at all.

Functional Components:

One of the best things about wireless chargers is that they don’t have too many functional parts at all as they themselves are the functional part. This YooTech charger has a Micro-USB input port on its backside and underneath it are a few rubber pads so it doesn’t slide around on a flat surface.

There’s also a dim light that it has at its front to indicate that it’s charging. When charging is not happening then the light turns Red. When you set your smartphone on top of the wireless charger and charging is taking place the light turns Green. Once your smartphone is fully charged the wireless charger stops charging.

So, as you can tell, all the functional parts of this wireless charger are hands-off meaning that you don’t really interact with them directly. Rather they just do their own thing depending on what’s happening with your device.

A concern that many people have with wireless charger is if they can use it with their cases on, as it’s quite a hassle to have to take off your case just to wirelessly charge your smartphone. Thankfully, this YooTech charger is able to wirelessly charge your smartphone even with cases on. Many customers have reported that it’s even usable with Lifeproof and OtterBox cases; both of which are very thick types of cases.

One of the things that YooTech won’t disclose is how this wireless charger uses just a single coil. The charging coil is actually what enables charging to happen. You have to keep your smartphone aligned in the middle with the coil to actually have wireless charging. If its offset then your smartphone won’t charge. The more coils that you have, the more ways you can place your smartphone without having to workout about placing it exactly in the middle.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this wireless charger is quite good but at the same time, it’s not breaking any records. The entirety of it is made of plastic, and overall, it’s not going to go breaking apart even with normal use.

Tech:

The one thing that many people worry about when it comes to wireless charging is that their smartphones get a little warm. That’s normal as there’s a magnetic field being created for wireless charging to actually happen.

Reliability

It’s a very reliable wireless charger but at the same time, this YooTech charger is basically at the base of what wireless charging has to offer. As there’s just a single coil being used, it has an output of only 5V/1.0A and it has a very small size (Although the small size is a good thing) but it’s not a stand.

This is where wireless charging begins.

Summary:

Power:

Make sure that you use a 2 Amp wall charger or higher to power this wireless charger to make sure that you get the most out of the output charging.

Design:

It has a very small size, but it only uses a single coil because of it. So you have to make sure that you’re placing your phone right in the middle. The great thing about this charger is that it can work with cases.

Build:

It has a good build quality, and your smartphone will get warm but that’s normal.

Reliability:

There’s stable wireless charging here, but nothing too special and that’s what makes it so reliable.
