Power banks that use fast charging tech are one of the most useful types of portable chargers that you can purchase. That’s because you’re able to take the fast charging tech with you wherever you go and not have to worry about using a USB wall charger with an AC outlet to fast charge your compatible devices. There are two main fast charging technologies on the market, with Power Delivery and Quick Charge. In this case, we’re going to be focusing on Power Delivery, since we’re reviewing this Zendure A8PD 26,800mAh power bank.

The great thing about Power Delivery is that it’s basically a fast charging technology that’s a lot more universal than Quick Charge, as the device that’s using it doesn’t have to use a Snapdragon processor. As a result, that’s why there are smartphones, tablets, and laptops that use the USB-C Power Delivery tech. So let’s take a closer look at what this power bank has to offer with its Power Delivery charging.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this Zendure power bank is very high, starting at a 26,800mAh initial power capacity. This is basically standard with most Power Delivery portable chargers as the reasoning behind it is that you’ll not only be charging smartphones but also tablets and laptops. That said, let’s see how much of it you’re actually able to use.

26.800 x 3.7 = 99160 / 5 = 19,832

So, overall, you’re really able to use about 20,000mAh of the initial power capacity, and even though it’s quite a bit lower than what the power bank actually starts out, it’s still a good amount to charge smartphones many times over. Such as the Galaxy S8 and Pixel 2, both of which have a 3,000mAh battery or at least close to it are able to charge to their full power about five times with this power bank. That is if you’re charging only a single device with this power bank, and that’s really what these full charge estimates are based on, as this power bank feature 5 USB output ports, so you can potentially have the power capacity being used to charge five devices at once.

Also, if you’re getting this Zendure A8PD portable charger then you’re likely going to use it for charging USB-C Power Delivery compatible laptops. Of course, laptops and tablets have larger battery sizes and therefore, they’ll receive less full charges, but you can expect about two full charges for most Power Delivery compatible laptops on the market with this power bank.

Output Charging:

Most of the time when it comes to even high capacity power banks, the most amount of ports that they tend to have is two to four charging ports. This Zendure power bank actually takes it a step further as it makes use  of five charging ports.

Four USB-A Ports:

There are four USB-A ports on this power bank and each of them is capable of a 5V/2.4A charging speed. At the same time, the four USB-A ports on this charger share a 24W (4.8A) max output, so you can use two of the USB-A ports at their max power, and even if you’re charging four devices at once with the USB-A ports the charging speed that’s available with each of them is still enough to charge most devices at a fast charging speed.

USB-C Power Delivery port:

The USB-C Power Delivery port on this power bank is the main reason that you’re going to be purchasing this portable charger. The Power Delivery charging speed on this power bank has a 30W charging speed. This is a good Power Delivery charging speed that can charge all Power Delivery compatible smartphones at their max charging speed.

You’re also able to charge quite a few Power Delivery compatible laptops, such as Apple’s USB-C Macbook, Samsung’s Chromebooks, and a few others on the market that are able to charge a lot faster than with just a standard 15W USB-C port. That said, the USB-C Power Delivery port on his power banks won’t charge all USB-C compatible laptops, and that’s because there are USB-C laptops on the market that require more Power Delivery charging power in order for them to actually charge, so it’s vital to know if you’re USB-C laptops requires more than 30W of charging power to charge.

Just a few USB-C laptops that require more charging power than 30W are Dell XPS 13, XPS 15, and Razer Blade Stealth laptop, just to name a few.

Input Charging:

The Zendure A8PD portable charger is recharged using only the USB-C port, and the great thing about using it to recharge the power bank is that you’re able to recharge the power bank at Power Delivery speed with a 30W or higher USB-C Power Delivery wall charger. We highly recommend using a USB-C Power Delivery port to recharge this power bank as it’s able to recharge to its max power within only 4.5 hours. That’s a very fast recharge time for a 26,800mAh power bank.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this Zendure A8PD power bank, despite its very high power capacity, is actually quite small. At the same time, just because the general size of it is small doesn’t mean that the power bank is very easy for portability. That’s because the charger has a length of 4.7 inches, a width of 2.9 inches and a thickness of 1.6 inches. The weight of the power bank is 1 pound.

So it appears to be small, but because of the large thickness and heavyweight of the power bank, it’s quite uncomfortable to hold the power bank for a long duration and use it. So most of the time you’re going to be placing this portable charger down when it comes time to use it.

Functional Components:

Even with its many charging ports, using this power bank is still very easy to do. That’s because all of the charging ports are on a single side. Along with the USB ports, there’s also a LED power capacity display that makes it easier to tell the amount of power that’s available to use rather than a few dots that many power banks tend to use.

On top of the power bank is where you can find the power button and you do have to press the power button to begin charging no matter what port you’re using to charge with.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of Zendure chargers is one of the best on the market and not because they’re waterproof, because they’re not., The outer shell of the power bank is shockproof though and basically able to take falls onto the hard-flooring so you don’t have to worry even if you drop the charger from a high height.

Tech:

On the tech side, this power bank can get a little warm if you’re using the USB-C Power Delivery port for a long duration. Other than that, even if you’re charging four devices at once with the four USB-A ports, the power bank tends to stay cool.

Reliability

This Zendure A8PD portable charger has a lot to offer with its four standard USB-A ports and of course, there’s the USB-C Power Delivery port. This power bank does not feature Quick Charge with any of its ports, and even though some might find that to be a flaw, it’s not really a flaw at all as the reason that you’re getting this power bank is because of its 30W USB-C Power Delivery port that you can use to charge compatible laptops while you’re on the move.

If you plan on fast charging Power Delivery compatible smartphones only with this power bank, well, we think that you should go for a lower capacity power bank as this charger may be too large for only charging a smartphone, unless you want a ton of power capacity to use when it does come to charging your smartphone.

Summary:

Power:

There’s still a lot of power capacity to use even with its output power capacity. There are a total of five charging ports on this power bank, something that very few power banks tend to feature. There might be no Quick Charge, but there is the more universal fast charging tech of 30W of Power Delivery which is the main feature on this power bank.

Design:

It’s an easy to use power bank with all charging ports being on a single side, and the power bank uses a digital power capacity to show how much power is left in an easier manner.

Build:

The build quality of this power bank is one of the best on the market when it comes to non-specialized rugged power banks. As this charger does have a shell that makes it shockproof so you don’t have to worry about dropping it on hard-flooring.

Reliability:

The reliability of this Zendure portable charger is the amount of power capacity you’re able to use, the Power Delivery charging power that’s available and the fact that you’re able to charge five devices at once. The lack of Quick Charge isn’t an unreliable factor as you already have Power Delivery charging that’s far more universal than Quick Charge in many ways, especially if you have a Power Delivery compatible laptop and smartphone.

That said, if you can make use of the 30W charging power, then this power bank is one of the best options out there, along with its other features.
