Portable chargers are one of the best charging electronics that you can be using and that’s because they offer very charging while you’re on the move. Not only that, but there are simply so many different power banks that are capable of some very powerful charging. Owning a power bank is no longer about just charging your smartphone. This ZMI USB-C Power Delivery charger is proof of that.

Power Delivery is a somewhat a new type of charging tech and the reason that it’s so important is that it not only provides fast charging for compatible devices. It’s also becoming the new universal fast charging standard too. Since this ZMI power bank actually features USB-C Power Delivery you’re able to charge your Power Delivery compatible smartphones while you’re on the move.

That said, this charger is capable of more than just its Power Delivery charging, so let’s take a closer look to see what else it offers and if you should choose this power bank the universal powerful charging that you can take anywhere.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this charger is 20,000mAh and that’s to be expected. In fact, we expected a higher power capacity considering that this charger can not only charge smartphones, it can also charge tablets and laptops too. That said, the output capacity that you’re actually going to receive is just as useful and is enough for charging a small or large device to full power a few times over.

First though, let’s see how much power you’ll actually be able to use with this charger.

3.7 x 20,000 = 74,000 / 5 = 14,800

So most of the time you’re going to be receiving an output power capacity of 14,800mAh that you can actually use for charging your devices. Charging smartphones such as the Google Pixel 2 to full power about 5 times, or you can charge the Google Pixel 2 XL with its massive 3,520mAh battery capacity to full power about 3.8 times. Both of those smartphones are USB-C Power Delivery compatible.

Charging tablets and laptops such as a USB-C compatible MacBook or Chromebook basically have the same results and that means they have large batteries. Most laptops have 5,000mAh batteries or 7,000mAh batteries. As a result, in most cases, if you’re dedicating most of the power capacity to just a laptop or tablet, then that can result in 2 full charges for those types of larger devices. That’s an ample amount of power considering that a lot of power is being a filled up and so you can use your laptop for the duration of a full battery.

Output Charging:

This ZMI USB-C power bank features very powerful charging.

USB-C Power Delivery Port –

The USB-C port on this power bank can either be used with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge USB-C compatible smartphones, tablets, or laptops at or near their max charging rate. Most of the time, this power bank will actually be able to charge your Power Delivery devices at their max charging speeds and that’s because it’s able to output 45W of power. While most USB-C wall chargers and other power banks that use Power Delivery output 30W.

The Macbook will actually be able to charge at its max charging rate, as it comes with a 45W USB-C wall charger when you purchase it. You can of course still charge just regular USB-C smartphones and other devices with the USB-C port, and they’ll just charge at a default charging rate of 5V/3.0A.

Another useful thing to know is that you can use a USB-C to Lightning charging cable to charge the iPhone X or the iPhone 8 at their max charging speeds. As both of those smartphones are compatible with Power Delivery, and it’s something that not many users know at all because Apple doesn’t seem to really make it known, but the new iPhones do indeed have fast charging.

Two USB-A Ports –

There are two more output ports with this power bank and that would be two USB-A charging ports. The max output of the two USB-A ports combined is 18W. So if you’re charging a Quick Charge compatible smartphone along with just a single USB-A port, then you’re able to charge it at its max charging speed. While using both of the ports at the same time will result in a 9W charging rate for each, or 5V/1.8A charging rate for each of the ports.

Use it as a USB Hub

What makes using this power bank even better is that it actually goes beyond charging with its two USB-A ports and that’s because once you connect the USB-C port to a laptop, you can use it as a USB Hub. As a result, you can actually connect a mouse into one of the USB-A ports of the power bank and use it with your laptop. The same is true with using a Flashdrive for downloading or taking out files to put on your computer.

Input Charging:

Recharging this power bank is just as powerful as output charging for your devices. That’s because you can use the same PD USB-C port to recharge this power bank. What’s even better is that you can use a USB-C Power Delivery wall charger to recharge it at Power Delivery speeds and that will result in a full recharge rate of 4.5 hours. That’s actually a very fast recharge rate considering that this is a 20,000mAh power bank.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size and weight of high capacity power banks are always going to be larger and heavier than ones that have lower capacities. Since they use more batteries and have more tech. That’s definitely the case with this power bank, but at the same time, the size and weight of this ZMI charger aren’t overbearing as you may think.

It has a length of 6.3 inches, a width of 3.2 inches, and a thickness of 0.8 inches. The weight of the charger is 14.2 Ounces. So the power bank is actually quite thinner than we expected it to be at least an inch thick and over a pound heavy. That’s not the case here. That said, it’s half a foot long and the weight of the power bank is nearly a pound though.

Holding the charger and charging your smartphone is completely possible, but for the most part, if you’re purchasing this charger to charge your laptop then you’re going to be setting it down most of the time.

Functional Components:

This power bank is very easy to use with its very minimal set-up.

All three of the charging ports on a single side, and in the middle of where they are is where the USB-C port is.

Then to the alongside of the charger is where the functional ports are.  This is where you’ll find the power button, 4 White LED power capacity indicators and a Blue light to show that this power bank is being used as a USB Hub. You do need to press the power button on this power bank in order to begin charging through any of the ports.

Build

Structure and Material:

Build of this charger is pretty good, it has a top, middle and bottom piece that the make the charger whole. Each fo the charging port keep a charging cable strongly held in place and the power button works every time you press it. Just don’t drop this power bank, because even though it’s an absolute beast when it comes charging, it’s not a rugged power bank.

Tech:

Since this ZMI power bank features Power Delivery, it does get a little warm when you’re using the Power Delivery charging. That said, even when you’re charging with the USB-A ports at the same time, the power bank still stays warm and that’s completely normal. As 45W of power being outputted is still a lot of power.

Reliability

If you own a Power Delivery compatible device and want a power bank that can charge it at or near its max charging speed while you’re on the move, then this ZMI power bank is a great choice. Not only is it able to charge Power Delivery devices, it also has two powerful USB-A ports that are each capable of Quick Charge. Another thing is that this power bank is capable of being a USB Hub too.

Summary:

It has a high power capacity that can charge smartphones a few times to full power and you’re going to manage about two full charges for smartphones and tablets. There are two Quick Charge ports with this power bank and you’re also able to use this power bank as a USB Hub.
