Power strips have become more capable than just powering appliances, as many of them now have charging ports, and at this point, it’s best to get the ones with charging ports. A power strip with ports means you don’t have to use an AC outlet for a wall charger, making things more convenient. Ensure that the power strip you plan on getting features fast charging ports, such as USB-C Power Delivery ports or USB-A Quick Charge ports.

In this review, I’m looking at this UGREEN DigiNest Cube 7-in-1 power strip with four charging ports and three outlets, and yes, this is a cube.

Output Power

The max output of the AC outlet side of this UGREEN power strip is 1875W, so you will be able to power most appliances using this power strip. In my testing, I powered a Lasko heater at its high setting. While charging three devices simultaneously, the heater functioned perfectly, and charging was not interrupted. The power from the AC outlet isn’t a concern.

The charging port selection is pretty good for a power strip because there are two USB-C Power Delivery ports and two USB-A Quick Charge ports. So you have a high-quality wall charger already built into this power strip. That said, the max output of the charging section is 65W, so there are limits.

For my testing, I plugged in a Lenovo laptop to the USB-C 1 port, and it was able to charge at about 30W; then I plugged in a Galaxy Note 9 to the USB-A 2 port, and it was able to fast charge, while my Lenovo laptop continued to charge at 30W.

With my Lenovo laptop, Note 9 charging, I plugged in an Excitrus power bank to the USB-C 2 port, and the charging speed of the Lenovo laptop fell from 30W to 3W. The charging rate of the Excitrus power bank was 17W, and my Note 9 dropped to standard charging. When charging two or three devices simultaneously, the two USB-C ports share a 20W output, and the USB-A port can output 18W, so my Note 9 should have continued to fast charge but didn’t for some reason.

Then I wanted to test out the maximum output of the USB-C ports, which is 65W Power Delivery, so I charged my Excitrus power bank alone and got a 65W charging speed. So you can use the full 65W when charging a single device from either USB-C ports or 18W from the USB-A ports.

Overall, the charging ports on this DigiNest Cube power strip fit most charging needs because you can charge most USB-C chargeable laptops as long as you don’t charge any other devices simultaneously, and fast charging is still available when charging two devices. This is better than power strips that only feature standard 12W USB-A ports.

Size and Weight

As I mentioned, this is a cube; you can probably tell by the images and name. This power strip has 2.9-inch dimensions all around, and it weighs 1 pound.

The power cord is 6 feet long. This power strip won’t take up much on your desk or wherever you decide to place it. The only small hassle I found was placing the power strip flat on the desk because the power cord would make it sit at an angle.

Functional Components

Using the power strip is easy; plug it into a wall outlet and switch it on using the power switch at the back. Yes, this power strip has a switch, which is fantastic. Once the power strip is on, a dim white light turns on at the front. All the charging ports are at the front, and the outlets can be found on the other sides.

Build Quality

This UGREEN DigiNest Cube power strip feels very high quality, and this is what I’ve come to expect from UGREEN products in general. The power cord is exceptionally high quality and feels like it would never break apart. As for heat, when I charged three devices and powered a heater simultaneously, the power strip got just a little warm.

Reliability

If you want to power appliances and fast-charge devices such as your phone, tablet, or even your laptop, this DigiNest power strip is a good choice. The form factor makes it easy to place it anywhere you want to, and three outlets of such a small size are reliable for most needs.
