Best Chargers for the Galaxy Tab S3

(Last Updated On: August 24, 2017)

One of Samsung’s latest tablets is the Galaxy Tab S3 it is definitely one of the devices that you should definitely keep an eye out for. That’s because it has an HDR AMOLED Display that looks beautiful, Quad Speakers to give you a great experience for when you’re watching a movie it with it, a powerful processor for fast multitasking, and a bunch of other features that you can find on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 page.

That said, one of the major changes for the Galaxy Tab S3 that’s quite different than what other Galaxy Tablets have is the use of USB Type-C. The Type-C charging standard is becoming more prevalent with lots more devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops too. So it makes sense that the Galaxy Tab 3 now uses Type-C as well. This has resulted in the tablet being able to recharge to its full power faster and along with the use of Type-C, the Tab 3 also uses Quick Charge 2.0 charging technology. Which means that if you use a Quick Charge 2.0 charger to charge this tablet then it will charge at QC 2.0 speeds for faster charging.

A tablet that uses Type-C is quite uncommon, but a tablet that uses Type-C and Quick Charge at the same time is something that is even more unusual. With that said, this charging design is really good, especially for a tablet that has a 6,000mAh power capacity. If you’re recharging the Tab S3 with a Quick Charge 2.0 or even a Quick Charge 3.0 charger then you can charge it to its full power within 3 hours. Or you can use a USB-C port that offers Power Delivery, as that will also provide lots of power for a very fast recharging speed.

Charger Harbor has brought together the best chargers for the Galaxy Tab S3 so you can choose which ones fit your needs the best. We’re going to go through Portable Chargers, USB wall chargers, and car chargers. So you’re going to be able to make use of three of the major types of charging electronics

Portable Chargers for the Galaxy Tab 3

The Galaxy Tab 3 tablet has quite a large power capacity and that means you’re going to need a power bank with an equally large capacity that is able to charge the tablet to its full power multiple times over. Another one of the main reasons to get a portable charger that has a high power capacity is because you can charge your tablet and a smartphone to full power without draining the power bank completely.

Anker PowerCore+ 26800

This Anker PowerCore+ 26800 portable charger is a great one to use with your Galaxy Tab S3 and that’s because it has a USB-C port that uses Power Delivery and because of that, you’re able to charge the tablet at its max charging speed. This power bank also has two USB ports that each have a charging speed of 5V/3.0A. As a result, you can potentially charge 3 devices at once because it has 3 Output ports. However, it’s important to know that if you want to use the Power Delivery that the USB-C port offers, then you have to charge your Tab 3 or any other UBS-C compatible device that uses PD alone.

PD Recharging

The portable charger also uses Power Delivery when it comes to recharging the portable charger too, and you can do so with the charger that comes with the portable charger itself. As this Anker power bank comes with a USB-C Wall charger that provides 30W of power, and when you use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable with the wall charger then you’re able to recharge this power bank with 27W of power which results in 4.5 hours of recharge time.

This is a 25,800mAh power bank and it can recharge within 4.5 hours. That is a very fast recharging speed.

Of course, we weren’t going to leave behind the power capacity of this charger, as it has a 25,800mAh power capacity. A 25,800mAh power capacity is enough to charge the Galaxy Tab S3 to its full power about 4 times. Four full charges for a 6,000mAh tablet can basically last you for about a week if all you’re doing is recharging this tablet with the charger. That said since you’re most like going to recharge this power bank with your Tab 3 and some other devices as well, then the full charge for the Tab 3 will obviously be lowered.

Overall, the power capacity of this power bank is going to be useful not only for charging the Tab 3 but also for charging other devices as well. The same is true for the charging speed of the ports, as you can use Power Delivery or you can choose to use the USB Ports and the USB-C port at the same time.

Specs of the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 PD with 27W Portable Charger:

  • Capacity: 26,800mAh
  • Output:

Both USB Ports: 5V/3.0A

Type-C: 30W

  • Input: 27W
  • LED Power Indicators: 10 LED Dotted Power Capacity Indicators
  • Size: 3.8 x 1.7 x 0.9 inches
  • Weight: 1.3 pounds

RAVPower 26800 Portable Charger

Another power bank that is very similar to the above Anker PowerCore 26800 charger is RAVPower’s own 26800 portable charger. As it has a power capacity you can use to charge your Tab 3 to its full power about 4 times with, if you’re solely charging the tablet alone. Then there’s the charging experience which is pretty much identical to the charging experience that the Anker PowerCore 26800 offers because it has a USB-C port that uses Power Delivery; this power bank also uses two USB Ports, but each of these USB ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A, rather than 5V/3.0A.

Thankfully this charger can be recharged through its USB-C port using Power Delivery when you use a USB-C wall charger that offers 30W of power. The unfortunate thing is that this portable charger does not include a USB wall charger, you must purchase a USB-C charger separately. We highly recommend using Anker’s USB-C wall charger or Aukey’s USB-C charger too.

With all that said, this RAVPower charger uses a Micro-USB Input port that has a recharging speed of 5V/2.0A and if you use that to recharge the power bank, then it has a recharge time of 13-14 hours. It’s a much longer recharging time versus using the PD with the USB-C port, but at least you still have a more viable option for recharging the power bank.

Specs of the RAVPower 26800 PD Portable Charger:

  • Capacity:    26,800mAh
  • Output:

USB Ports: 5V/2.4A Each

Type C Output: 5V/3A |9V/2A | 15V/2A | 20V/1.5A

  • Input:

Type-C Input: 5V/3A | 9V/2A | 15V/2A | 20V/1.5A

  • LED Power Indicators: 4 LED Dotted Power Capacity Indicators
  • Size: 6.77 x 0.79 x 3.15 inches
  • Weight: 13.3 ounces

EasyAcc 20,000mAh with 4-USB Ports and Quick Charge 3.0

The use of 4 USB charging ports with a power bank is something that is not very common, and the thing with portable chargers that use many USB ports is that charging speeds are quite bad. However, that’s not the case here with this EasyAcc 20,000mAh portable charger with 4 charging ports. Or at least, that’s not really the case.

The 20,000mAh power capacity is able to charge a Galaxy Tab S3 to its full power about 2.5 times. So it packs quite a bit of power, however, the best experience with this charger is with its USB charging ports. That’s because this power bank has a 4 USB ports. Three of the USB ports are standard ones that each have a charging speed of 5V/2.4A and then there’s a single Green Quick Charge 3.0 charging port.

The Quick Charge 3.0 port is going to be the port that you’re going to want to use when it comes to charging Quick Charge compatible devices such as the Tab S3 or any other devices such as smartphones that also use Quick Charge tech. The max output of the power bank is 4.8A and so if you want to make the most of the power that is available with each of the USB ports, then we highly recommend using two USB charging ports at a time as that won’t split up charging speeds too much.

Since charging 4 devices at once would split up the max output of the power bank too much and cause slow charging speed for the devices that you’re charging.

Fast Recharging

Then there’s recharging of this high capacity power bank and it’s really good. That’s because this charger uses two Micro-USB input ports that each have a recharging speed of 5V/2.0A and as a result, when you use them both at the same time, that results in a 4A recharging speed. 4A recharging speed results in this power bank being able to recharge to its full power in about 5 hours.

Aukey 30,000mAh Power Bank

This Aukey 30,000mAh portable charger is a highly capable one. What I mean by that, is that it has quite a lot of parts that make the charger really good to use, so let’s take a closer look.

Of course, as you already know this power bank has a 30,000mAh power capacity and that means you can basically recharge a Galaxy Tab S3 to its full power about 4.5 times. However, with the number of ports that this power bank has, you’re most likely going to want to charge other devices at the same time, and that will result in less full charges for your Tab 3. Not that it really matters too much as there’s a lot of power to go around.

The other major part of this portable charger is 3 Output ports. There’s a standard 5V/2.4A charging port and a Quick Charge 3.0 USB port. The third Output port is the Type-C port that this power bank has, which can be used with a USB-C to UBS-C charging cable to recharge UBS-C compatible devices such as your Tab S3. However, in this case, you’re going to want to use the Quick Charge port with power bank for the faster recharging speed for your Galaxy Tablet.

Also, another strong charging part for this power bank is the recharging, as there are two Input ports. There’s the Type-C port that can also be used as an Input port and it has a Micro-USB Input port. You can use both of the input ports at the same time and that can result in a full charge within 6-7 hours; which is a rather fast recharge speed for a 30,000mAh power bank.

USB Wall Chargers for the Galaxy Tab S3

Getting a USB wall charger for your Galaxy Tab S3 is quite easy, as you have to make sure that it either has a Quick Charge USB Port or a USB-C port so that you can charge your Tab S3 at its max speed. Also, these types of chargers usually have many USB Ports so you can charge lots of devices at once if you want to.

Anker PowerPort Speed 2 Ports

If you’re someone that uses Quick Charge only with their devices, this Anker PowerPort Speed 2 USB wall charger is for you. That’s because it has two USB charging ports that each uses Quick Charge and can also supply standard speeds of 5V/2.4A.

So you can charge the Galaxy Tab S3 at its max charging speed while you charge another Quick Charge compatible devices at its max speed such as a Galaxy S7 or S8 smartphone. It’s basically a powerful all in one charger that can provide lots of power to your many devices and the form factor for such a charger is also really good because it has a slim design that makes this charger less likely to cover surrounding AC Outlets with a wall outlet or a power strip.

However, this charger doesn’t have a retractable AC Adapter, some may think that’s a negative thing, but it’s really not because it’s more sturdy that way.

Specs of the Anker PowerPort Speed 2 Ports:

  • Output:

Each Quick Charge Port: 3.6V-6.5V/3.0A | 6.5V-9V/2.0A | 9V-12V/1.5A

  • Input: AC 100-240V
  • LED Power Indicators: Single Blue LED Light
  • Size: 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.1 inches
  • Weight: 4.6 ounces

PowerAdd 5-Port Wall Charger with Quick Charge and USB-C

PowerAdd USB wall charger is more of a charging station because it has 5 charging ports and that results in it using a power cord. It’s worth it though, because of what this charger features.

It has 3 standard USB ports that each have a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. It also has a USB-C and Quick Charge 3.0 port. So there’s an option to charge the Galaxy Tab S3 at its max charging speed which is the Quick Charge port, or you could use the USB-C port to also charge the Tab S3 quite quickly. With all that said, once you choose what port to charge your Tab S3 with, you still have the other powerful port to use with other devices that use the same compatible charging tech. The use of the standard ports is also very helpful because you can charge devices that aren’t compatible with USB-C or Quick Charge tech at their max charging speeds too.

It’s a great all-around charger that can give you a max output of 8 Amps at once. So if you do want to charge multiple devices at once with this charger then you should charge only 2-3 devices at once. That’s because if you were to charge lots of devices at once, the charging power would be split up too much if you were using the Quick Charge port.

Specs of the PowerAdd USB-C Charging Station:

  • Output:

Standard USB-A Ports: 5V/2.4A

Quick Charge USB Port: 3.6V-6.5V/3A | 6.5V-9V/2A | 9V-12V/1.5A

Type-C Port: 5V/3.0A

Max Output: 8A

  • Input: AC 100-240V
  • LED Power Indicators: Single LED Light
  • Size: 3.15 x 3.15 x 0.78 inches
  • Weight: 5.7 ounces

Aukey Charging Station 6-Ports and two Quick Charge Ports

There is even 6-Port charging stations and this one, in particular, is going to be very useful to use with basically any USB chargeable device. That’s because it has 4 standard USB ports that each have a charging speed of 5V/2.4A, and it also has two Quick Charge ports.

So you can actually have two Quick Charge compatible devices at their max charging speeds at the same time and also charge one other standard chargeable device. That’s because the max output of this charger is 9.6A, and if you’re charging two Quick Charge compatible devices, then that is going to be a lot of Amperages already being used. So it’s best to stick to charging 3 devices at once with this charging station if you’re using both Quick Charge ports at once; as you won’t split up the charging speed too much then.

Specs of the Aukey Charging Station with 6-Ports and Quick Charge:

  • Output:

Each USB-A Port: 5V/2.4A

Quick Charge Ports: 3.6V-6.5V/3.0A | 6.5V-9V/2.0A | 9V-12V/1.5A

  • Input: AC 100-240V
  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 4.06 × 2.80 × 1.02 inches
  • Weight: 7.2 ounces

Car Chargers for the Galaxy Tab S3

It’s quite strange to think about charging your Galaxy Tab S3 in your car but it can be done because there are indeed car chargers that exist to charge the Galaxy Tab S3.

Aukey Car Charger with USB-C Built-in Cable

This Aukey car charger has a built-in USB charging cable and it also has a USB port. The USB-C charging cable has a charging speed of 5V/3.0A and the USB port has a charging speed of 5.4A. That is a good thing because you can use the two charging options at the same time, at their max power.

Specs of the Aukey USB-C Car Charger with Built-in USB-C Cable:

  • Output:

USB-A Port: 5V/2.4A

USB-C Cable: 5V/3.0A

Tronsmart 2-Port Car Charger with QuickCharge

Just like the Anker PowerPort 2 USB wall charger that we talked about earlier, this car charger is basically like that. That’s because it has two USB charging ports that each use Quick Charge, as a result, you can charge two Quick Charge compatible devices at their max charging speeds. That said, the two Quick Charge ports are able to output a 5V/2.4A charging speed for Non-Quick Charge devices.

Specs of the Tronsmart 2-Port Car Charger with Quick Charge:

  • # Of Ports: 2
  • Output:

Both Quick Charge Ports: 3.6-6.5V/3.0A | 6.5-9V/2.0A | 9-12V/1.5A

  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size: 3.2 x 2.2 x 1.2 inches
  • Weight: 1.1 Ounces

Tronsmart 4-Port Car Charger with Quick Charger

Tronsmart also has a 4-Port car charger that uses three standard 5V/2.4A USB ports and it also has a Quick Charge 2.0 charging port. You can indeed charge 4 devices at once, but it’s best to charge two devices at once only if you’re using the Quick Charge port to charge your Galaxy Tab S3 so you’re not draining power from its Quick Charge USB port.

Specs of the Tronsmart 4-Port Car Charger:

  • # Of Ports: 4
  • Output: 5V/2.4A Per Port | 9.6A Max Output
  • LED Power Indicators: None
  • Size:
  • Weight: 4 Ounces

Also, there are two other 4-Port car chargers that you can find highly useful. One is from Aukey that also uses 4 charging ports and has a Quick charge port, so it’s basically like this Tronsmart car charger. The other car charger is from Anker and it’s called the PowerDrive+ 4; it uses Quick Charge and a USB-C charging port. So you have two options for charging your Galaxy Tab S3 at or near its max charging speed.
