Review: Anker Quick Charge 3.0/USB-C 4-Port Car Charger

Most car chargers just have normal USB-A charging ports but more often than not, the charging ports on most car chargers are powerful with the ability to charge most devices at their max charging speeds. However, not many car chargers make use of special charging techs like USB-C or Quick Charge. That basically changes with this Anker car charger because it has USB-C, a Quick Charge port and 2 standards USB-A charging ports. It’s offering all the standards of charging with a car charger! This isn’t something that you see too often.

Let’s see what this uber powerful car charger has hidden under the hood and if you should get it.

Output Charging:

This car charger has 4 charging ports, so there’s quite a lot of power going around. Let’s start with the 2 USB-A charging ports.

2 USB-A Charging Ports:   5V/3.0A

The standard with this car charger sets a high bar and this kind of standard is becoming very common among many of Anker’s charging electronics from their wall chargers to their power banks. We say this because the max charging speed of each of the ports including the 2 USB-A ports is 3 Amps.

For these 2 standard USB charging ports, the max charging is 5V/3.0A. So you’ll be able to charge nearly any device at its max charging speed. This is especially true if you’re charging Non-compatible Quick Charge or USB-C devices. Charging Quick Charge compatible devices will result in them being charged at or at least near their max charging speeds even when using the standard USB-A charging ports.

USB-C Port:   5V/3.0A

The USB-C port can be used by using a USB-C to USB-C charging cables, and it can only be used by devices that are compatible to use USB-C charging. The charging speed of this port is 5V/3.0A so it can charge devices that do use USB-C to charge their max charging speeds. Also, if you’ve got a Macbook that uses Type-C to charge, then you can use the Type-C port to charge your MacBook while you’re driving to your location. Not something that is commonly done but the option is there to do so.

Quick Charge 3.0 Port: 3.6-6.5V/3.0A    –   6.5-9V/2.0A    –    9-12V/1.5A

Lastly, is the Quick Charge port that can be used by Quick Charge compatible devices that are either Version 1 or 2. Charging is at its highest with 3 Amps and when charging is slowed down, then Voltage is increased making the charging speed more constant. This port is also able to deliver a max charging power to standard charging devices that don’t work with Quick Charge too, however Anker explains that the Quick Charge can only charge an iPad Pro at 1 Amp.

Overall Charging Power:

The Overall charging power is quite impressive because the car charger is able to Output 6 Amps at once. With that said, this means that you can’t use all the charging power of each port at the same time. So you’ll have to prioritize what devices you’re charging all at once if you’re charging 2 devices or more at the same time.

Size and Weight:

Okay, so it’s a pretty large car charger and that’s not something that is said about car chargers in general. This mostly because the Anker car charger is packed not only with 4 charging ports but also because of the fast charging speeds that each of the ports is able to offer. So it only makes sense.

It has a length of 2.1 inches, the width of the charging block is 3.1 inches and is the best portion of the charger, and the thickness is 1.3 inches. Not that it really matters but the weight is 0.8 ounces.

Functional Components:

All you have to do is plug the car charger into your car’s V12 outlet, and once it’s plugged in a red ring around the charging block will turn on. It’s a low red light that is not distracting at all but perfect for telling where the car charger is in night time and easily plug your devices in.

Structure and Material:

The entire wall charger is made of plastic and is built well. This is mostly because the charger has a Zinc Alloy finish that makes it strong and resistant to environmental effects like moisture in the air and any other effects that would make the plastic underneath degrade.

Also, all the components are placed strongly with the car charger not falling apart even when you pull it out in a quick fashion.

It features Anker’s Multi Safe Protection system that uses an array of safety features like Short-Circuit protection, Temperature control, Total Current Limiter, and a Surge Protection. So charging 4 devices at once is safe even when you’re pushing the car charger to its limits.

Of course, charging 4 devices makes it very reliable. The charging speeds of each of the charging ports are very fast and you’re going to get max charging for whatever devices you’re charging. You can even charge a Macbook with this car charger.

However, we found that the USB-C and Quick Charge 3.0 charging ports are mainly for those that can actually take advantage of the fast charging these ports offer. Ultimately, this car charger is more for those that use either of those charging technologies.

It’s a really powerful car charger with 4 charging ports. Each of the charging ports has a possibility of Outputting 3 Amps of power. The Max Output limit of 6 Amps can be quite limiting so you’ll have to choose what devices you want to charge the fastest at a single time.

It’s a large one, and it’s actually larger than Anker’s PowerDrive 4 and that also has 4 charging ports. In this case, it’s big not only because it has 4 charging ports but also because each of the charging ports are very fast at charging.

Even though it’s made of plastic the Zinc Alloy finish on the car charger is what makes it strong. It uses an Anker Multi Safe Protection System.

For the most part, this car charger is more aim towards those that can take full advantage of the Quick Charge 3.0 port, and USB-C port.

Review: Anker 4-Port Car Charger

We’ve reviewed a 4-Port Car charger from Aukey, and we found it to be absolutely stellar when it came to a full-on charging experience but it did have its share of limits by being able to malfunction. Now we’ve got the Anker 4-Port car charger that may be just as good, with a different look. How does it stand in terms of power? Are all 4-Port chargers equal or should you be very selective when it comes to having so much charging ports with a car charger?

Know what makes this Anker 4-Port car charger a well-defined competitor among the rest.

Car chargers tend to be a category of charging tech that is expected to stay a few steps behind, because since they’re small and used within a car, their abilities seem to be underrated. That’s a mistake, though because car chargers are absolutely capable of performing at the same level as other charging technologies like power banks and wall chargers. It’s shown to be very apparent with this Anker 4-Port car charger.

Anker’s 4-Port car charger can indeed charge 4 devices at the same time. What’s even more amazing about the car charger is that it can charge 5V/2.4A charging speed through each port. Let’s take it to another level by telling you that the car charger can even keep its max charging speed of 5V/2.4A per port even when 4 devices are connected to each of the car charger’s ports.

This means the car charger is actually capable of charging 4 iPads at full charging speed at the same time because the max Amperage output of the car charger is 9.6 Amps. 2.4 x 4 = 9.6A

1-Port Charge Speed5V/2.4A5V/2.4A5V/2.4A5V/2.4A
2-Port Charge Speed5V/2.4A5V/2.4A5V/2.4A
3-Port Charge Speed5V/2.4A5V/2.4A
4-Port Charge Speed5V/2.4A
Total Charge Speed2.4A4.8A7.2A9.6A

This 4-port car charger may not be equipped with Quick Charge but it’s sure to give the fastest charge for any of your USB charging devices from your smartphones to your tablets.

It’s a very well designed car charger that takes as much advantage that its 4 ports give it. The stem of the car charger, which is the part that goes into the electrical outlet is about 2.2 inches long; It makes the car charger quite long and as a result, the car charger does stick out quite a lot from the outlet. Although, it’s important to remember that this kind of design can’t be helped because of the 4 charging ports. You can’t exactly compare it in the range of RAVPower’s Insanely small 2-Port car charger because this car charger has 4 ports.

The best thing about the car charger is the brick-like shape where the charging ports are installed. It’s a very organized way to show where the car charge is and a blatant way to put the charging ports in an easy access location. Although the brick piece will be sticking out, along with the charging stem piece; Some may not like this kind of design. With that said, the car charger is “Low Profile” in its own way because it’s not taking up too much space that you’ll be annoyed by its presence.

On the charging brick portion, you’ll find the 4 charging ports lined up at the same angle, the PoweriQ logo to signify that all charging ports offer max standard charging speed, and a blue LED light. The LED light is on regardless if a device is connected to the charger or not, and it’s meant to illuminate the charger so the car charger is more accessible during low light situations. All the ports do not light up blue, it’s only the charging port at the end of the car charger that lights up because that’s where the LED light is placed closest to.

The 4-Port car charger’s design is actually necessary for anyone actually seeking to charge 4 devices at the same.

Build quality of the car charger is surprisingly very good and we say “Surprisingly” because usually, the case with higher port car chargers is that they tend to lose their quality of build.

The stem of the car charger is made of plastic and is a uni-body piece. There aren’t any slits throughout the middle of the stem so there’s really no chance of it falling apart from there. Then there’s the charging port block that’s made of Aluminum that has a rough varnish finish that actually feels alright and looks stellar. The charging block is a uni-body design as well and simply goes on top of the charging stem. Ultimately the car charger has only a single point that involves two pieces sticking together and that’s the car charger’s stem and block coming together.

The USB charging connectors within each of the ports hold strong and we didn’t find any bending between any of them. Along with the structurally sound construction of the car charger, are charging safety tech features. This kind of technology is especially important for car chargers within the higher port range because there are times that the 4-port car chargers can become heated and as result the safety tech Temperature Control is able lower Amp current to cool down the car charger to prevent damage to the charger itself, your devices and ultimately keeping you safe.

It’s a reliable charger that’s going to offer the MOST reliability when you take the utmost advantage of it. Let’s just say that if you plan on only charging a single device at any time within your car, then maybe this 4-port car charger isn’t for you and maybe lower ported car chargers are a better choice.

However, this car charger can be heavily relied upon for nearly any situation because it’s able to charge 4 devices at the same time and at full charging speed. We did mention that if you’re only going to charge a single device, it may not be worth it, but the car charger will still charge that single device at full speed. Then there may be times when you’re riding with family and friends and they want to charge their devices; It’s times like those that this car charger is the most helpful and reliable. It’s a car charger that can mean the most in the most important of times because it can fulfill many people’s charging needs all at the same time.

It’s got the absolute most output of power at 5V/2.4A. You can quite literally charge 4 iPads at the same time, all at max charging speed. Most smartphones will be meeting their max charging potential as well. It’s a great charger for anyone in your car wanting to charge their device because no matter what device they have, it’s going to charge at max standard speeds. Best of all there’s 4 ports for it.

A well kept and neat design can make even a 4-port car charger seem small and low profile. Sure, the car charger does stick out than most other car chargers but that’s mostly because of its 4 charging port. The block that features the ports is well designed with all the charging ports aligned the same for easy access and a blue LED light within the car charger shines brightly for easy visibility of the car charger.

The build of the car charger is tight. The stem and block parts of the car charge are both uni-body. The two main body pieces connect and form only a single spot that is connected from two different  pieces. The charging stem is made of plastic and the block is made of Aluminum. The USB connectors within the ports actually hold up well but if they do bend due to the somewhat heavier weight of a 4-port car charger, then you can always take advantage of Anker’s sweet warranty.

The reliability of the Anker 4-port car charger is naturally universal. The car charger has 4 charging ports, which means that you can potentially charge 4 devices at the same time. However, if you’re sure that you’re only going to be charging a single device with a car charger, then maybe going with a lower port range is a better idea. If not, no worries because it’ll be ready for any of those car pool moments.

Specs of the Anker 4-Port Car Charger:

  • # Of Ports: 4
  • Output: 5V/2.4A Per Port
  • LED Power Indicators: Just a single Blue LED light within the car charger
  • Size: 3.4 x 1.9 x 1 inches
  • Weight: 1.6 ounces
  • 18-month warranty

The car charger is powerful, the charger has 4 ports to charge 4 devices at the same time; Or 3 or 2 or 1 device. It’s got a larger size than your conventional car charger but that’s how it is because of its charging capabilities. The safety tech within the car charger is designed for the power it can output so it’s prepared for those heated situations of charging. The Anker 4-Port car charger is everything that you’d hope for what a car charger could be. It gives if you use it solo, but the car charger gives, even more, when you use more of its charging ports. If you’re searching for a car charger for those long road trips or a car charger that is going to accommodate your passengers in the best way, then we recommend this sublime car charger.

Review: Aukey 4 Port USB Car Charger

Pic 1

Aukey’s 4 port car charger is just that, a 4 port car charger that is able to charge 4 devices at the same time. It’s quite an impressive feat because this means that you can charge 4 devices at the same time while you drive. It follows the general design and technology in terms of what its competitors are doing, however, lets take a closer look and see what makes this 4-port car charger so phenomenal.

The power of the Aukey 4 Port wall charger is surprisingly strong. The car charger is able to provide max charging speed to a device with a 5V/2.4A max standard charging speed. Each of the ports in the car charger is AiPower enabled which means that they will send out the most current possible to a device to charge it as fast as possible. Taking into account that the charger is able to charge 4 devices at the same time, while still maintaining a max charging speed for each port; and you’ve got yourself an insanely powerful car charger that will charge any device to its full potential while you’re driving.

Always remember, though, not all devices will be charging at 2.4 Amps because each device requires a different amount of Amps to charge and the AiPower smart charging will adjust accordingly to how much power a device needs. Otherwise, this Aukey charger welcomes tablets, smartphones and any other USB charging device to charge at its full speed.

The shape of the Aukey 4-Port wall charger is likely the first thing to stand out to you. The long nose part of the car charger that goes into the car charging outlet is somewhat long and as a result, the car charger sticks out quite a lot; Although the receptacles on the charger are very well placed and as result, the car charger is easily inputted into the charging outlet.

The car charger’s design then becomes wide at the charging end because it has to accommodate for the 4 USB charging ports. The width of the charging end is done very well because the ports take advantage of every centimeter that the car charger allows it to. There isn’t any unnecessary space being used because the charging output ports are lined up alongside each other. What you end up with is a very objective design that offers to charge as its paramount purpose.

Additionally, as a small amenity, the car charger provides a bright Blue LED light within the car charger once you plug it into the outlet. It’s simply a way for you to see the car charger at night; Other than that, however, it serves no other purpose. The light will be completely blocked if you connect 4 devices to the car charger and there aren’t any individual LED lights for each port.

Lastly, the most major thing about the Aukey 4-port wall charger is that you can charge 4 devices at the same time. Although we’ve mentioned that already a few times, we can’t capitalize enough on how much potential this car charger holds. 4 USB charging ports mean that nearly everyone within your car could charge their device. Although we do recommend purchasing a Charging Cable Bundle because you may not have 4 charging cables on hand currently.

Ultimately, this 4-port car charger is designed for those that wish to charge many devices at the same time while driving and for people who simply need a car charger. After all, it’s got an astonishing price of $12.99

The structural build quality of the power bank is completely solid. There aren’t pieces that will fall off, crack or break and ultimately it’s a strong power bank. With that said, though, the technical side of the 4-port car charger is a different story.

When you have the capabilities of being able to charge 4 devices at the same time at max charging speed, especially with a car charger, then there’s going to be a lot of stress on the car charger. That kind of case is very true here. The Aukey 4-port car charger can deliver on what it promises but there’s still a higher chance for it to get damaged. There are circuits that might get blown and as a result, some charging ports could stop working. Then there are cases in which the car charger may stop working as all together.

The car charger does take advantage of special charging techs like Current Control, Overheating, and Overcharging control; But it’s very important to remember that 4 ports for a car charger are impressive. For all 4 port to be sending out full Amperage capabilities is on another level. If you’re going to charge 4 devices at the same time, then we recommend doing it for a set period of time and unplugging one or two devices from the car charger to avoid fatal damage.

If the Aukey 4- port car charger does malfunction, you can always take advantage of the 24 Month warranty. Simply contact Aukey and request a new one to be issued. They stand by their products.

If you drive long distances a lot, if you simply want a car charger or maybe you just want to have a lot of charging options with your car charging; Then the Aukey 4 port car charger is for you. It offers 4 charging ports that can charge 4 devices at full standard charging speed.

One thing that may make the car charger not so reliable may be the ominous malfunctioning due to using too much power. The 4-port car charger is strong, it’s headstrong even when charging 4 devices at the same time. However, being strong and going all out is also its greatest weakness because the further you push it, the higher the chance of the car charger malfunctioning there is. Although this may be for a select few Aukey car chargers that are defective, we still recommend caution when going all out with this car charger.

There are limits to the reliability but at least the car charger is able to fully keep you and your devices safe through safety technology.

Every single port of the Aukey 4 port wall charger is able to deliver a charging speed of 2.4 Amps; Which is the max standard charging speed. It can do max charging to 4 devices all at the same time. This is highly impressive since it’s a car charger and for its size, the power coming from all the ports being at a max charge is great.

The design of the power bank is mostly straightforward. The long tip of the car charger is a little too long and as a result, the car charger may stick out quite a lot. However the other end of the car charger is purely objective with no space being spared or wasted, and that’s where the USB charging outputs are all put; one after another for easy access. There’s a LED light within the car charger but it will be covered up fully when all 4 charging ports are used.

Along with the fast charging speed and 4 ports, comes the relatively high chance that the car charger will malfunction or possibly be damaged. That’s because although the car charger is perfectly capable of charging 4 devices at max charging speed at the same time, it also means that there’s a lot of stress on the car charger. We recommend going light when it comes to using all 4 charging ports at the same time as a way to not stress the charger too much.

The Aukey 4 port car charger is reliable up to a certain point. You can rely on the charger to charge 4 devices at the same time. You can also rely on it for fast charging. However, you cannot rely on it fully all the way to its limits. It’s a car charger. The charger pulls energy from your car and transfers it from the electronics within the car charger and to your device. Having 4 devices plugged into it cannot be highly reliable because it may not be able to keep up and something may get damaged.

We’re not saying you can’t take advantage of all 4 ports at the same time but we are saying that there are limits to the car charger.

Specs of the Aukey 4-Port Car Charger:

  • # Of Ports: 4
  • Output: 2.4A Per Port
  • LED Power Indicators: Only One
  • Size: 3.4 x 0.8 x 1.8 inches
  • Weight: 0.3 ounces
  • 24-month warranty

The Aukey 4-Port Car charger gives it its all when it comes to a strong charging car charger and the ability to charge many devices at the same time. It takes advantages in every way of its design, although being a little too long. With all of its strengths, perhaps the main weakness of the charger is that it’s too strong for its own good. Just take caution when you’re going all out with this car charger (Like charging 4 iPads at the same time)
