Power banks are made mostly for charging smartphones, with a 10,000mAh power capacity or lower. Higher capacity power banks have 20,000mAh of capacity or some that have 30,000mAh, which can also be useful for charging phones and tablets.

What about 50,000mAh power banks? That’s a ton of power, and you might think that a power bank with that much power will have an AC outlet, but that’s not the case for this Crave PowerPack 50,000mAh portable charger.

This charger is one of the most optimized high-capacity power banks we have ever reviewed. Not only does it have tons of power, but there’s also some very powerful charging behind it with its Power Delivery and Quick Charge.

Power

Power Capacity:

With its 50,000mAh power capacity, there’s a ton of power to be used from this Crave PowerPack charger. Most “high capacity” power banks would have about 20,000mAh to 30,000mAh; this Crave charger goes above and beyond. This is more of a mega power bank.

With its 50,000mAh power capacity, you can expect to charge smartphones to full power easily. Even phones with larger batteries like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Note 10, Galaxy S10+, or the iPhone 11 Max Pro, which all have about a 4,000mAh battery, can charge about tens of times to full power.

However, remember that you’ll only be able to charge a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 to its full power ten times if you’re charging it alone with this power bank. Charging multiple devices at once will make it so that the power capacity is split up between devices. Of course, only charging phones with this power bank can make it last for a week or more, depending on how much you charge.

Charging tablets and laptops is more on the level of what this power bank is made for, and you can fair about 3 to 5 full charges for most laptops and tablets. If you’re charging a MacBook Pro 2018 15″ with a 7,336mAh battery, you can expect about 3.5 full charges from this Crave power bank. Older MacBook models have between a 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh battery.

Most tablets have nearly the same battery size as MacBooks, too.

Even when charging larger and more powerful devices, this Crave power bank can still last for days with a single full charge. 50,000mAh is a lot, and taking this charger while you’re out can be convenient and completely erase the anxiety of having your laptop, tablet, or smartphone lose power.

Output Charging:

The power capacity is the icing on the cake for this power bank. What matters most are the layers of charging capabilities this power bank holds.

There are a total of four charging ports to be used on this Crave PowerPack. Two USB-C Power Delivery ports and two Quick Charge 3.0 ports.

18W PD Port:

The Google Pixel (Far Left) is Rapidly Charging using the 18W PD Port, the LG G7 (Far Right) is Fast Charging using one Quick Charge 3.0 port, and the Galaxy S6 is Standard charging from the other QC 3.0 port because the max output has been reached.

One of the USB-C Power Delivery ports has an 18W charging speed. The 18W USB-C port is going to be most useful for charging smartphones. Most of the latest phones that use a USB-C port are Power Delivery compatible, or they’re at least able to charge at 15W using a USB-C port.

A Surface Go, Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S6, and LG G7 ThinQ are all being charged simultaneously with the Crave PowerPack.

You can also fast charge an iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone XS, and the iPhone 11 Max Pro with the PD port. Just remember that you’ll need a USB-C to Lightning cable to charge the iPhone with a USB-C port.

60W PD Port:

Charging speed for the Microsoft Surface Go from the 60W PD Port.

The other USB-C Power Delivery port has a 60W charging speed. The charging speed is considerably higher than the other PD port, which is where this power bank holds much of its value. Most portable chargers have either 30W or 45W of Power Delivery charging power. This Crave charger goes further and gives 60W.

You can still charge smartphones with the 60W PD port, but it’s more meant for charging Power Delivery laptops. Charging USB-C PD Chromebooks, Macbooks, Samsung tablets or laptops, and Microsoft’s newest Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro X, or the Surface Pro 7 is the 60W Power Delivery port is about on this power bank.

It’s simply tons of power to be used, enabling you to charge many laptops compatible with PD at or near their max charging speed. That said, as powerful as this power bank is, you must use the right charging cable to transfer that much power. Crave has USB-C charging cables, but we recommend Anker’s USB-C to USB-C charging cables.

Quick Charge 3.0 Ports:

The other two ports are USB-A ports that feature Quick Charge 3.0. Yes, each USB-A port uses Quick Charge 3.0, not just one like most power banks.

In terms of total power output, this power bank can output 81W at once. So you can use the full 60W PD power from the USB-C port and, at the same time, fast charge a smartphone with either the other PD port or one of the Quick Charge 3.0 ports. Charging a laptop and another three devices simultaneously is possible, but you may lose charging power with the other ports.

Input Charging:

Recharging this 50,000mAh power capacity may sound like a long waiting task, but it’s much faster than you think.

You can either use the 18W USB-C PD port for charging or the 60W PD port. Of course, you’ll want to use the 60W PD port to recharge the power bank, and the even better part is this Crave power bank comes with a 45W Power Delivery wall charger.

So you can recharge the power bank at 45W right out of the box, and it takes about 6-7 for a full recharge from empty.

Design

Size and Weight:

With a 50,000mAh power capacity and many powerful charging ports, this charger will be larger than most other power banks you have either owned or seen.

The charger has a length of 8.2 inches, a width of 5.4 inches, and a thickness of 1.3 inches. The weight of the power bank is 3 pounds. This is not a power bank that you can fit into a pocket. However, you can hold it in your hand if you want to comfortably. Placing it in a backpack can also prove to be useful.

Functional Components:

All the parts of this power bank you’ll ever use are on one side. That’s where you’ll find all the charging ports, the power button, and four white power capacity indicators.

The wall charger that comes with this power bank only has a single PD port and a single white power light that turns on when you plug the wall charger in.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this power bank is industrial and solid. The entire charger is covered in Aluminum and holds well. Of course, this charger is not shockproof from falls, so you still have to be careful not to drop it.

Tech:

With a PD port that can output 60W of charging power and, even more so, a max output of 81W, this Crave power bank does get a little warm if you’re charging a laptop for a long time. It does not get too warm, but it is noticeable to the touch, and it’s to be expected because that’s a lot of power for a power bank to output.

Reliability

This is most definitely a reliable power bank in nearly every way. There’s a ton of power capacity that will last for days. The charging power is perfect for charging smartphones to laptops, with its 18W PD port and 60W PD port. Using two Quick Charge, 3.0 ports pushes the powering even further for Android smartphones.

The only unreliable part of this power bank will be its size and weight, as it is larger and heavier than most regular power banks with lower capacities.

Summary:

Power:

There is enough power capacity to last for days, and this is true whether you’re charging smartphones, tablets, or laptops. Charging power is there with two PD ports and two Quick Charge 3.0 ports. The power bank even has a 45W PD wall charger to recharge it faster.

Design:

The size of this charger is larger and heavy, with it weighing in at 3 pounds. It’s easy to use with charging automatically, starting when you plug a device in.

Build:

It’s a well-built power bank with an Aluminum shell. It can get a little warm if you’re charging with the 60W PD port.

Reliability:

This Crave charger has it all regarding its power capacity and charging power. The only unreliable part would be its size, but it’s expected with its 50,000mAh power capacity.
