RAVPower 10W Fast Wireless Charger Stand
Most of the time, when it comes to wireless charging, the name of the game isn’t fast charging. Instead, what you’re looking out for is mostly the experience that you’re getting from the charger.
As wireless charging isn’t as fast as wired charging, the way that you’re able to use a wireless charger is what matters most. In this case, we’re talking about the usage of a wireless charging stand.
In this review, we’re going to be taking a look RAVPower’s fast wireless charging stand that can fast charge Samsung smartphones. So this may actually give a better wireless charging experience than a regular wireless charging pad. Both on the powering and design side.
There are two main smartphones on the market that are capable of “Fast Wireless charging”. One is Samsung smartphones ranging from the Samsung Galaxy S7, all the way to current ones. Also, the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone XS, also have their own fast wireless charging speed.
For this RAVPower wireless charger, it’s able to supply 10W of charging power for Samsung smartphones. However, you must be using a Quick Charge wall charger to power this RAVPower wireless charger to get the fast wireless charging.
If you’re using a regular wall charger, then the wireless charging for Samsung smartphones will default back to 5W.
As for fast charging the iPhone X, iPhone 8, or the iPhone XS? Unfortunately, this wireless charger does not support iPhone fast wireless charging. So even if you’re using a Quick Charge wall charge with it, iPhones will receive a 5W charging speed. Instead of a 7.5W charging rate that they would receive with a fast wireless charger.
Also, all other Qi-compatible Android smartphones will receive a 5W charging speed.
As we mentioned before, to get the fast wireless charging speed for Samsung smartphones, you must use a Quick Charge wall charger to power it.
The wireless charging stand makes use of a Micro-USB input port, but the good news is that the wireless charger comes with a Micro-USB cable. It does not, however, come with a Quick Charge wall charger.
Size and Weight:
Much like other wireless chargers on the market, this charging stand is going to go great with nearly any desktop set-up that you’ve got going.
The charger has a height of 4.3 inches and has a base that is about 2.8 inches wide. The weight of the charger is 5.9 Ounces.
When it comes to using this wireless charger, the best part about it is that you can use your smartphone while it charges from it.
The stand portion ensures that your smartphone sits at a 60-degree angle, giving you a clear view of your screen.
Also, since this charger features two charging coils. One at the top portion and bottom portion of the charger, you can either place your phone vertically or horizontally for charging to happen.
There is a single LED light at the bottom of the charger that has two colors. Red and Green.
The Red either stays on for 10 seconds on standby and then turns off. Or if there’s a foreign object, other than a smartphone on the charger, then it flickers Red.
When you can place a smartphone on the charger to actually charge, the light flickers green, or it stays on for about 15 seconds once your phone is fully charged and then turns off.
Structure and Material:
The build quality of the charger is nearly all plastic and that’s basically what you can expect from most chargers on the market.
The base is the heaviest and thickest portion of the charger.
If you’re fast wirelessly charging a Samsung smartphone at 10W for a long duration of time, then yes, the charger does get a little warm. However, when it comes to standard wireless charging at 5W, then the charger does not exhibit any overheating.
The reliability of the charger is going to be the best for Samsung smartphone owners, you can use the fast wireless charging that this RAVPower charger has to offer.
Sure, other Andriod smartphones will also benefit from using this wireless charger, too, but they will receive a 5W charging speed. But that will be the case for other fast wireless chargers, too. With this wireless charger, you get the stand form factor that makes it more reliable for using your smartphone while it charges.
However, when it comes to charging an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone XS, then this charger isn’t the most reliable, as it won’t provide a 7.5W charging speed. Rather a 5W standard charging speed.
Also, in regards to the reliability to what the wireless charger actually comes with; it does not come with Quick Charge wall charger, so therefore, unless you have a Quick Charge wall charger yourself, you can’t use the full power of the wireless charger out of the box.
The charging power is great for Samsung smartphones as it features fast wireless charging speed for them.
The ability to use your smartphone while it charges from a wireless charger is a great benefit. You also get to place your smartphone in landscape mode, too because this is a dual coil charger.
This RAVPower charger does get a little warm if you’re using its fast wireless charging for a long duration.
The fast charging is only meant for Samsung smartphones, and not for iPhones.
