In this case, Anker’s newest portable charger is their PowerCore II 20000 and the new part about this portable charger has quite a few parts of it having to do with its charging speed and also its design too.

Power

Power Capacity:

Figuring out the power capacity of this portable charger is quite easy to figure out from its name as its 20,000mAh. It’s a good amount of power that most high capacity power banks have and that is the main aspect of this portable charger. Since it has a lot of power, you’re going to purchase this PowerCore II 20000 if you want lots of power for charging your smartphone or other devices at the same time.

Most of the time you’re going to be receiving 14,800mAh of Output power capacity that you’re actually able to use. That said, that’s the output of power you can get if you’re using just standard charging with this portable charger as it has two USB ports. The other USB port is basically the new portion and that would be what Anker is calling PoweriQ 2.0 and it has an output of 18W, which is 5V⎓3A, 9V⎓2A, 12V⎓1.5A. The 18W port basically uses Quick Charge, so you’re able to charge Quick Charge compatible devices at their max power and it’s also able to charge Non-Quick Charge compatible devices at their max power too. That’s because this 18W port can Output 5V/3.0A which is basically little more powerful than the other USB port on this portable charger.

That said, you can charge a Google Pixel, Nexus 5X or a Nexus 6P at their max power using this PoweriQ 2.0 port because of its high standard charging speed. The innovation for Anker’s PoweriQ charging tech is very helpful as it goes further than just offering a 3 Amp charging speed, as it accommodates Quick Charge compatible devices at the same time too.

Input Charging:

This PowerCore II 20000 is recharged through a Micro-USB input port and it has two recharge options. You can either recharge the portable charger using a standard 2 Amp USB wall charger and it’ll recharge to full power within about 7 hours.

Or you can use a Quick Charge USB wall charger and recharge the power bank at a 5V/2.0A | 9V/2.0A charging speed and that can result in a full power recharge within 5.5 hours.

Design

Size and Weight:

The dimensions and weight of this portable charger are very similar to other Anker portable chargers and that is a good thing. As even when Anker’s power banks have high power capacities they still tend to have a compact from factor.

This PowerCore II 20000 has a length of 6.7 inches, a width of 2.4 inches and it has a thickness of 0.9 inches. The weight of the charger is 13 ounces. So the power bank might be quite long, but its long length really stretches things out and that makes portability with it easier as you can hold it with just a single hand if you wanted to. It is indeed 3 ounces away from being a pound, but that’s what comes with a power capacity of 20,000mAh, as there are more batteries being used.

Functional Components:

On the functional side, this PowerCore II 20000 has everything is a very localized area and the best part about Anker is that they keep things super clean. You’ll find no flashlights on this power bank.

Both of the Output ports and the Micro-USB input port are on the same short side and then at the top of the portable charger is where there’s the power button. On the power button is where there are 10 very small LED power capacity indicators that other Anker portable chargers also have such as the Anker PowerCore 20100 USB-C.

The use of 10 LED lights is great, as each light basically counts as 10% of power. Once you plug a device into the charger, the power bank begins charging and there’s no need to press the power button, however, if you want to check the power capacity during charging you can just press the power button.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this PowerCore II 20000 is simply phenomenal. Sure, the portable charger is made of plastic, but it has a numerous amount of lines that makes the charger have an awesome texture to hold. Also, the USB ports have a very strong hold on the charging cable that you place into them so you won’t have problems with cables coming out while you’re walking and charging with this power bank.

It’s not a Rugged power bank, that said, all of the components on this PowerCore II 20000 are solid and can most likely survive a short fall.

Tech:

The tech has really gotten to a point where Anker has done a really good job with heat management. This portable charger is able to Output 30W of power and even if you’re using both of the ports at the same time, there isn’t very much heat generated as they’ve installed there new heat management system.

Reliability

This is a new generation of Anker portable chargers and we welcome it as it’s able to give optimal charging for all standard charging devices and Quick Charge compatible devices too. The best part is that both of the USB ports are equal even though one of the ports has 18W of power to output, but can still charge low powered devices too, so it’s universally reliable.
