Anker PowerCore II 6700 Power Bank

If you’ve ever purchased a charger from a third party company for your devices, then you’ve probably heard of Anker. They’re one of the most well-known charging electronic brands on the market currently, and lately, they’ve been releasing new portable chargers.

This PowerCore II 6700 portable charger is one of their new chargers. It has a new design that is now becoming the norm with their other chargers. What about its charging abilities? Does a new aesthetic design translate into better charging power? Let’s find out.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of this Anker power bank is right in the name and that would be 6,700mAh. With this much power, you’re able to charge most smartphones to full power at least once. You might have power left over to charge a little more. Let’s see how much you’re really able to use from this charger.

3.7 x 6,700 = 24,790 / 5 = 4,958

So with about 5,000mAh of power to actually use, this charger can definitely charge most smartphones on the market to full power at least once.

Output Charging:

The design of this charger does in fact NOT mean that there is more charging power. That’s because this PowerCore II 6700 only features a single standard USB-A port. The port has a 5V/2.0A charging speed.

This power bank does not use Quick Charge or Power Delivery charging. So it will not fast charge any of those compatible smartphones.

Input Charging:

To recharge this power bank you have to use its Micro-USB input port that also has a standard 5V/2.0A charging speed. So as long as you’re using a 2 Amp wall charger or higher to recharge this power bank, then it will recharge at its fastest charging speed.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this PowerCore II is that of a lower capacity portable charger. It has a length of 3.8 inches, a width of 1.7 inches and a thickness of 0.9 inches. The weight of the charger is 4.6 ounces.

Functional Components:

Using this charger is like using many of Anker’s other portable chargers. Charging automatically starts when you plug your device into the power bank. So no need to press the power button.

The two ports are on the same side and they’re colored blue.

At the top is where the power button is, and when you press the power button, there are six LED power indicators that turn on to show how much power is left.

Build

Structure and Material:

The power bank is made of plastic, but one thing that’s quite a bit different with this charger is its use of a very small laser imprinted pattern. It makes the power bank less slippery and provides a better grip.

Tech:

The charger does get a tad bit warm when you’re recharging but is basically the case for most power banks in general. No heating occurs when you’re charging your own devices with the power bank.

Reliability

The reliability of this charger can best be described as minimal. It does not feature any fast charging tech, and it has enough power capacity to charge a smartphone to its full power at least once.

The best part of this Anker power bank is perhaps the form factor as you’re able to place this charger into a pocket and practically forget about it.

Summary:

Power:

The charging power from this portable charger is not impressive and neither is the power capacity. It does well enough, but it doesn’t hit a home run here.

Design:

The charger is basically the size of a 2,000mAh power bank, and yet it yields more power.

Build:

The charger provides a better grip with its use of very small grooves that prevent the charger from slipping out of your hands.

Reliability:

It’s a reliable enough power bank that can charge a smartphone at average charging speed and get it full power, too.

Specs of the Anker PowerCore II 6700 Power Bank:

  • Capacity:

Initial Capacity: 6,700mAh

Output Capacity: 5,000mAh

  • Output: 5V/2.0A (10W)
  • Input: 5V/ 2.0A (10W)
  • LED Power Indicator: Four LED Power Indicators
  • Size: 3.8 x 1.7 x 0.9 inches
  • Weight: 4.6 Ounces

Conclusion:

Anker’s PowerCore II 6700 portable charger is definitely an upgrade in its design department, but its power level still remains the same just as Yamcha’s power level from Dragon Ball Z.
