Many of us might not think a lot of car chargers, however, car charging can actually be very useful if you want to charge your smartphone and other USB chargeable devices while you’re driving. Car chargers are on the simplest charging electronics that you can own, and at the same time having a car charger can be very important. That’s because if you’re driving and using an app such as Google Maps, the last thing you want is for your smartphone to die on your while you’re driving.

One of the most purchased car chargers on the market is Anker’s PowerDrive 2 car charger. It’s from one of the best brands that sell charging electronics, Anker. What Anker has here is a very simple car charger, but at the same time, it offers some very powerful standard charging too.

Power

Output Charging:

There are two USB-A ports on this charger and each of the ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A and the max output of the charger is 4.8A. A 2.4A charging speed is able to charge most USB chargeable devices at their max speeds. That said, that is really only true when it comes to Non-Compatible Quick Charge smartphones and also for some tablets such as Apple’s iPad that have a max charging speed of 5V/2.4A.

This PowerDrive 2 car charger does not feature Quick Charge, but if you do want a 2-port car charger with Quick Charge, then we recommend Anker’s PowerDrive+ 2 car charger.

Each of the two ports has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A and the max output of this charger is 4.8A. So you can actually use the max power of each port at the same time with this charger.

Design

Size and Weight:

This is a very small car charger, but at the same time, it still doesn’t beat Aukey’s Flush-fit car charger that’s able to fit entirely into a 12Volt outlet and look like it’s a part of your car.

In this case, since this car charger has a length of 2.5 inches, and a width of 1.1 inches, it’s going to be sticking our of your 12Volt outlet. Still, it will be very low-profile and won’t get in the way of anything.

Functional Components:

Using the Anker PowerDrive 2 car charger is very simple. Just plug it into a 12Volt outlet, connect your charging cables and you’re ready to charge your devices. At the front, where the USB-A ports are is where you’ll find a Blue LED light and that turns on when you plug the PowerDrive 2 inside of a 12Volt outlet to show that the car charger has been plugged in.

Build

Structure and Material:

The entirety of this car charger is made plastic, that said, it’s what you can expect from most car chargers on the market. It still has a great build quality that you can expect from Anker. The side receptacles go inside the car charger and are durable to use.

Tech:

This car charger does not get warm, even when you’re using two charging ports at their max power at the same time.

Reliability

Even though this PowerDrive 2 does not use Quick Charge, it’s still a great car charger to get if you want to charge your smartphone or tablet while you’re driving. As the 2.4A charging speed is still quite fast. That said, if Quick Charge is what you need because you own a Quick Charge compatible smartphone, then we highly recommend going for a Quick Charge car charger.

As Quick Charge with a car charger is better because you’re able to charge your smartphone faster while you’re driving and have more power filled up.

Summary:

Power:

Each port has a standard charging rate of 5V/2.4A, and you can use each port at its max power at the same time. Quick Charge is not used with this car charger, though.

Design:

This is a small car charger and it’s also very easy to use.

Build:

Even though it’s made of plastic, it still has a great build quality with its structure and the ports hold on strong to the charging cable that you use with them.

Reliability:

It’s a very reliable car charger that has powerful standard charging. Its lack of Quick Charge might put some off, and that makes sense, as Quick Charge being used with a car charger is very useful.
