Even though wall chargers are likely to be the most used type of charger because of how small and powerful they are, also with the fact that most smartphones formerly came with a wall charger, they can be limiting. Some wall chargers may not be able to output enough charging power for your needs, or it’s challenging to have your devices charging where you want them to simply because your charging cable is too short. Another factor is that a wall charger takes up an AC outlet spot that you could otherwise use to power an appliance.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this Baseus 65W GaN III desktop charger that brings multi-port fast charging along with easier access to your devices with its use of a power cord. One other feature is that it has two AC outlets at the sides.

Power

Output Charging:

Charging power varies with this Baseus desktop charger because it has four ports and a 65W max output via the port portion. There are two USB-C Power Delivery ports and two USB-A ports. Suppose you want to make the most out of the charging power. In that case, you’d only charge a single device at a time with this Baseus charger because by charging a single device; you can use the total 65W of Power Delivery via USB-C 1 or USB-C 2; that said, when it comes to charging multiple devices simultaneously then USB-C 1 will be your go-to port for the most power.

Like we mentioned, charging multiple devices does split the power among the ports because if you’re charging two devices from USB-C 1 and USB-C 2, then USB-C 1 will output 45W, and USB-C 2 will output 20W. Or USB-C 1 will output 45W, and USB-A 2 will output 18W.

Something important to note is that between USB-A 1 and USB-A 2, USB-A 1 is the much weaker port that can only output 5W. You can even notice that USB-A 1 is the more slower port among the four because it’s not colored orange, so it’s best not to use USB-A 1 unless you need to.

With our charging tests, we could charge a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop at its max charging speed when charging from the Baseus charger alone via USB-C 1. Adding two other devices, with a Samsung Galaxy A51 charging via USB-C 2 and a Galaxy Note 9 charging via USB-A 2, we noticed that the Lenovo laptop did slow down in charging a bit. The Galaxy A51 maintained fast charging, and the Galaxy Note 9 was standard charging.

To add to the charging, this Baseus charger also has two 3-prong AC outlets on teh sides that let you power appliances along with charging devices. The max output of this charger is 1250W, so it’s not relatively as high as a wall outlet, but it’s high enough for you to power most appliances.

The only devices that we recommend plugging into the charger are very high wattage ones such as kitchen appliances that include blenders, sandwich makers, stand mixers, and other high wattage appliances that this charger can’t handle within its 1250W output range.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of this Baseus charger is tiny even though it has a desktop form factor and uses AC outlets. The power cord is 4.9 feet long, so that gives you a good enough length to place the charger where you want, just as a desktop where you work. The charger brick itself has a length of 3.8 inches and a thickness of about 1.6 inches on each of its sides as it’s a cube shape.

The box includes a USB-C to USB-C cable that lets you start using the charger right out of the box.

Functional Components:

On the practical side, all you have to do is plug the power cord into a wall outlet to start using it. A LED power light turns on at the front; also, at the front is where you’ll find the two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports. USB-A 1 is not colored to show that it does not feature fast charging and is the slowest charging port.

Off to the right and left sides of the charger is where you’ll find the two outlets. You don’t need to do anything special to use the outlets; as long as the charger is plugged in, you’re ready to use the outlets.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this charger is excellent, and from our experience from using other Baseus products, we can say that this holds up well, too. The charger does not feel cheap, and the outlets felt like using a wall outlet. The power cord is mainly the part that feels solid because of how thick it is.

Tech:

The charger may get a little warm if you’re using near all the 1250W that it’s capable of, but it never got hot.

Reliability

This Baseus desktop charger has a different reliability level than most chargers because it has two AC outlets that let you power appliances while you’re charging devices. The use of two USB-C PD ports and two USB-A ports, with one featuring Quick Charge, is an excellent part of the charger. The desktop charger form factor with the use of a power cord gives you more freedom on the location of the charger. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable.

The only unreliable part of the charger is that you only get 65W available among the ports. It would have been better to give more charging power shared among the ports so that you could fast charge most devices simultaneously. At the same time, you can charge three laptops with this charger because of the two AC outlets.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power among the charging ports, consisting of two USB-C PD ports and two USB-A Quick Charge ports, is 65W. The charger also has two AC Outlets, and the overall max output of the device is 1250W. Just make sure that you use appliances that fit within that wattage limit.

Design:

The charging brick is small and won’t take up too much space on a desktop or surface. The 4.9-foot long power cord allows for more convenient placement of the charger.

Build:

The build quality of this desktop charger is excellent, and it only gets a little warm when you’re powering appliances, and even then, the devices would have to require high wattage.

Reliability:

This is a new type of charger to own with the addition of two outlets along with charging. We just hoped for more charging power to be available among the ports, but at the same time, you can always plug in a Power Delivery charger to the outlets to charge another laptop if needed.
