When it comes to portable charging solutions, the obvious choice is to use portable chargers and that’s because there are many types of them on the markets such as small and also larger ones that have high power capacities. However, when it does come to using power banks, it really just means that you’re going to have another device on you that you have to worry about. That’s where battery cases come in.

Battery cases are cases for a smartphone that also doubles as a portable charger, and that’s why at times, these types of portable chargers are the best to get. As some of them are able to protect your phone and charge it at the same time.

In this review, we’re going to be taking at a look at this EasyAcc 5,000mAh battery case. For the most part, battery cases have to have a very small power capacity to make sure that the case isn’t too large, however, this battery case has quite a high power capacity, and along with that, it also acts as a power bank that you can use to charge other devices with it.

Definitely not your ordinary type of battery case.

Power

Power Capacity:

For a battery case, this EasyAcc charger has a good amount of power capacity to use and that’s because it has a 5,000mAh initial power capacity. However, let’s see how much of this power you’re actually able to use to charge your iPhone X and other devices.

3.7 x 5,000 = 18,500 / 5 = 3,700

So, you’re able to use about 3,700mAh of the power capacity that this battery case and it’s with this much power that you’re able to charge an iPhone X to its full power about 1.5 times. As the iPhone X has a 2,716mAh battery capacity.

Also, the power capacity from this battery case can also be used to charge other devices that are USB-C compatible. Why do other devices have to be USB-C compatible? Well, that’s because there’s a USB-C port on this battery case that‘s used to recharge it as an input port, and can also be used as an output port when you use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. So if you have a friend or a family member that has a USB-C compatible smartphone, then you can also charge their device at the same time that you’re charging your iPhone X.

Of course, if you’re charging two devices at once, then you’re basically splitting the output capacity of 3,700mAh between the two, just something to know if you really want to charge your iPhone X to full power.

Output Charging:

There are two ways to charge from this EasyAcc battery case. Where most battery cases make use of a charging port at the bottom that you have to make sure goes into your smartphone, this battery case doesn’t even use a Lightning port in the first place. That’s because, instead, the charger makes use of wireless charging to charge your iPhone X. The wireless charging speed that your iPhone X gets is 5V/1.0A (5W), so it won’t fast wireless charge your iPhone X, but the fact that they manage to make this a wireless charging battery case is quite cool.

The one other output port on this battery case is a USB-C port and to use it as an output you have to use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge USB-C compatible smartphones. Most standard USB-C ports on basically any charging electronic has a 5V/3.0A charging rate, but since this is a battery case, the USB-C port has a 5V/2.0A charging rate, it has the same charging speed as the Lightning port and even though it is lower than what a standard USB-C port has, the fact that this battery case actually makes use of two output ports is something that is both uncommon and very useful.

Input Charging:

Not only is the output charging for this EasyAcc battery case amazing, but recharging it is also quite innovative and that’s because there are two ways to do it. You can either use the USB-C port to recharge this power bank with a wall charger, which has a recharge speed of 5V/2.0A. The other method for recharging this battery case is to use a wireless charger, as the battery case is actually Qi-compatible and it has a recharge rate of 5V/1.0A.

Your iPhone X will not recharge through the case though, as the case is too thick and of course, because the charging coil within the battery is what’s interacting with the wireless charger in the first place.

Design

Size and Weight:

This iPhone X battery case is going to add some bulk to your iPhone X, and that’s mostly because of its high power capacity, charging options that it has and also because of the safety that it adds. So even though it is going to feel bulkier you’re getting a plethora of other features that make using his battery case a great experience.

This battery case is basically a mini slim power bank, as it has a length of 5.8 inches, a width of 2.9 inches, and a thickness of 0.7 inches. The weight of the battery case is 5.3 Ounces. So it’s not even an inch thick and it features quite a few things that put it ahead of many other battery cases on the market.

Functional Components:

On the functional side, this EasyAcc battery case is very minimal.

At the back of the battery case is where you’ll find the power button that also acts as a power capacity indicator as it has a LED light on it. A Green light means that the battery case has a power capacity of over 50% and an Orange light means that the battery has a capacity of less than 50%.

Since there is no Lightning port that’s going into your iPhone X, the case has an opening where iPhone X’s Lightning port is and7 that means you can charge it with a cable any time you want to. At the top of the battery case is where the USB-C port is located.

Also, to begin charging you have to hold the power button down for about 3 seconds and if you want to stop charging then you can simply hold the power button down again and charging will stop.

Build

Structure and Material:

This a full-on case and that means it goes over your entire phone and the siding goes all the way across and the case also has raised bezels that protect your phone just in case you drop it.

Tech:

On the tech side, if you’re wirelessly charging the battery case and charging your iPhone X, then the battery case does get a little warm as it’s basically performing two charging methods at once.

Reliability

This is a very reliable iPhone X battery case that has enough power to change your iPhone X to full power about 1.5 times. Not only can it charge your iPhone X, but it can also charge your USB-C compatible smartphone as it uses a USB-C port that can also be used to recharge this power bank. Or you can wirelessly recharge this power bank with a wireless charger.

If you can get past the larger form factor of this battery case, then it can serve you well with its charging power and safety that it delivers.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is enough to charge the iPhone X to full power once and a little more. There are two ways to charge from this battery case and to recharge it, too.

Design:

The battery case doesn’t even use a Lightning port and so you still have access to the Lightning port on an iPhone X after putting the case on.

Build:

The battery case does offer full protection of the iPhone X with its use of a raised bezel.

Reliability:

It’s a very reliable battery case that packs a bunch of powering features, but the equivalent exchange factor is that it’s quite large.
