Portable power stations come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. One thing is for sure, some power stations are closer to being power banks, rather than being full-blown power stations because of their power capacity. However, if you are looking for a power station that is mainly for powering appliances and has as much power to use and wattage to output, then you’re in luck as there are many on the market.

In this review, we’re going to be taking a look at this AC100 power station from MAXOAK. A brand that specializes in heavily in this product area, the power station has a lot of power with a 1000Wh power capacity and a 600W output capability. Let’s see how this fits into using it.

Power

Power Capacity:

The first thing to know when it comes to using a portable power station is that they use very high power capacities. This one MAXOAK AC100 power station has a 1000Wh power capacity, which is a ton of power, however, how much of that power that you can use depends on how you’re using the power station.

That’s because if you’re using a higher power output, the conversion of power is less efficient.

Below we’ve calculated how much power capacity you’ll be able to use when it comes to using USB-A ports from this power station and possibly the USB-C Power Delivery port. As the USB-C PD port has different ranges of charging speed.

1000Wh * 1000 = 1,000,000 / 3.7 = 270,270mAh

So you’re able to use a 270,270mAh power capacity when it comes to using the USB ports on the power station, and this a ton of power. If we’re considering that you may be charging the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, a phone that has a 5,000mAh battery, the power station would be able to charge the phone to full power about 54 times. So if you have a phone that has a smaller battery such as a 4,000mAh or 3,000mAh battery then you can rest assured that you’ll be able to get hundreds of full charges for your smartphone.

It’s also useful for charging multiple smartphones at the same time. When it comes to charging laptops with this power station you can also expect many full charges, but at the same time, laptops do use larger batteries and use more power, so your mileage may vary when it comes to charging laptops.

When it comes to using a 14.8V power output you’re going to be getting less power because there is more heat generated resulting in less power conversion.

1000 * 1000 = 1,000,000 / 14.8V = 67,567mAh

So you’re going to be getting a substantially lower power capacity by using the 12Volt carport or using the USB-C Power Delivery port at a higher power output, as the Power Delivery port goes up to a 45W power output.

Output Charging:

As high as a power capacity that a power station has, it means nothing if the power station doesn’t have the power outputs to use the power. Fortunately, this AC100 has various power outputs that can support higher power outputs.

Four USB-A Ports / 45W USB-C Power Delivery Port

There are plenty of charging ports with this power station. There are a total of four USB-A ports and a single USB-C Power Delivery port.

There are two pairs of USB-A ports, and each of the pairs shares a 5V/3.0A charging speed. None of the ports use Quick Charge, so you won’t fast charging Android smartphones with any of the USB-A ports. However, a 3 Amp charging speed is faster than the average 2.4A power output that most USB-A ports tend to have.

The USB-C Power Delivery is a great port to have, and what’s even better is that the PD charging speed is 45W. Most Power Delivery power banks tend to have 30W PD ports, while this AC100 power station has a higher power output that can charge laptops at a faster charging speed. As there are many laptops on the market that can charge faster than 30W.

Also, you can fast charge Android smartphones and iPhone with the Power Delivery port, and don’t worry, your smartphone will still receive 18W and will not get damaged just because the Power Delivery port is rated to output 45W.

12Volt Car Port

The power station also features a 12Volt port that allows you to power certain appliances. That said, this may be the least used port on this power station as there aren’t too many appliances that use a DC carport to be powered from.

That said, one of the most commonly used types of appliances would be portable tire pressure pumps that do usually use a 12Volt plug that you can use with this power station.

Two AC Outlets:

The highlight of using this AC100 power station are the two AC outlets. The first thing that you’ll notice is that each of the two outlets can take three-prong plugs. The two outlets share a 600W Sine wave power output.

With 600W and two AC outlets to use, you have a lot more flexibility with the way that you want to use the power station. If you want to be able to utilize most of the 600W power output then you’re looking at being able to power higher wattage appliances such as small refrigerators, larger TVs, and even some power tools that are within the 600W power range.

With the two AC outlets that share 600W, you’re also able to power two appliances at the same time. You could use one outlet for using with a laptop charger to charge your laptop, and the other outlet could be used to power a fridge while you’re out camping.

Input Charging:

This MAXOAK AC100 power station is rechargeable through a DC input port. However, you can go about recharging in three different ways. The power station comes with a solar adapter cord that can be attached to a solar panel and then the solar panel can recharge the power station. However, this power station does not come with a solar panel, so you have to purchase it separately.

The two other recharging methods can be used right out of the box. The power station comes with an AC adapter and a DC car adapter to recharge it in your car. The AC adapter would be most reliable to recharge the power station in your household as you would plug it into an AC outlet, while the car adapter would allow you to recharge it while you’re driving.

Design

Size and Weight:

Since this is a full-blown power station it is large and heavy. The power station has a length of 15.3 inches, a height of 12.5 inches and a width of 7.2 inches. The weight of the power station is 34.4 pounds.

This is a heavy power station, and it’s so heavy that we recommend that you pick it up with your legs first. The good news is that it has a large handle at the top that allows you to pick up the power station with either one or two hands. We recommend two at first.

So this isn’t the type of power station that you would hold in your hand for a long duration of time, at least, I couldn’t. It’s more of the type of power station that you would place in your car, and take out to use it. It’s meant to be placed down and used.

Functional Components:

Using this MAXOAK Bluetti AC100 power station is fairly easy, and if you’ve taken a look at our other MAXOAK power station reviews, it’s the same features.

This AC100 has a digital screen that displays the remaining power capacity with a battery logo, and to the left, you have the Input, DC Output, and AC output in watts. The wattage for each displays real-time, so if you have a fan connected to the AC outlet, and increase the fan speed then the AC wattage display will update realtime to show how much power the power station is outputting.

The same is true for recharging the power station, as you get realtime stats on how much is being used to recharge the AC100.

To turn on the AC100 unit, there are three power buttons to use to the left of the digital screen. At the top is the power button to power on the unit, and just something to note is that you have to hold each power button down for a few seconds, and then a green light turns on to show that the unit has been turned on for each specific power output section.

The other two power buttons are for turning on the USB ports, DC carport, and the two AC outlets.

Build

Structure and Material:

MAXOAK has not only been solid on the power that their power stations have to offer, but the build quality is also great. However, just something to note is that this power station does not have a rugged build, which means that it does feature shockproofing, and it is not water-resistant. That said, the AC100 is sturdy and that means it can take a knock, a rollover, and overall you’re able to place it in your car without having to worry about it falling it apart.

Tech:

The power station does have a fan inside, and this turns on anytime the power station exceeds a 200W power output. So you don’t have to worry about overheating here.

Reliability

Portable power stations are built with reliability in mind. That’s especially the case with this AC100, as it has a 1000Wh power capacity and many ways to use it.

You’re able to charge four smartphones at teh same time and to make things better, it also features a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port for charging smartphones. The best part is the two AC outlets that can take 3-prong power cords and with a 600W power output ensures that you’re able to power more powerful types of appliances.

Summary:

Power:

This power station is not lacking in power, with its 1000Wh power capacity that can charge smartphones and laptops to full power multiples times, ultimately having the power station last for days or weeks. The power output options are also great because it has five USB ports, with being a 45W Power Delivery port, a 12V DC carport, and two AC outlets that share a 600W power output.

Design:

With lots of power comes lots of weight and a larger size. That’s true for this AC100 power station as it weighs about 34 pounds. The good news is that the power station does have a large handle at the top, and it’s also easy to use with the use of power buttons and a digital display.

Build:

The build quality of this power station is great, and even though it won’t take hard falls or water exposure quite well, it is tough enough to travel with and you can place it in your car without having to worry about it breaking.

Reliability:

Power stations are mostly reliable, but some are more reliable than others because of the power that they have to offer. This AC100 is moderately reliable for its power output of 600W from its two AC outlets, but we find that the power capacity of 1000Wh is the more reliable part as that’s a ton of power to use.

Conclusion:

The MAXOAK Bluetti AC100 1000Wh 600W portable power station has tons of power to use with many ways to use. At the same time it strikes a good balance with portability, but at the same time don’t expect to carry this power station any more than a few minutes as it’s very heavy.
