Power

Power Capacity:

There is a ton of power capacity to use with this MAXOAK power station there’s so much power that it might seem like it has an infinite amount of power capacity. Of course, that’s not the case, but there’s 2400Wh packed into this power source.

In terms of Mili Amp Hours (mAh), how much is 2400Wh? Well, before we answer that, you should know that the power capacity that you’re able to use from this power station will differ depending on how you’re using it. This is because there are three ways to use this EB240 power station.

You have the AC outlets, the USB charging ports, and the 12Volt Car Socket. Each of them has different power outputs and so you end up with lots more power capacity from using the USB ports than you would with the AC outlet.

Power Capacity for Smartphones

With all that said, to convert the power capacity from 2400Wh to mAh, when using the USB ports, you just have to follow this formula: (Wh)*1,000/(Volts) = (mAh)

(2400)*1,000 = 2,400,000 / 3.7V = 648,648mAh

So yeah, there’s tons and we mean TONS of power capacity, as 648,648mAh is hundreds of power banks put into one. Since there are four USB-A ports, you can choose to charge either smartphones or tablets from them. There is also a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port that can also be used to charge phones, but it can also be helpful to charge USB-C Power Delivery laptops like a MacBook, Chromebook and any other laptops that use USB-C ports for charging.

When it does come to charging smartphones with this power station, you can expect to get about 130 full charges for most smartphones on the market, and that’s underestimating how many charges you’re able to get. This is because we’re assuming to charge a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra that has a 5,000mAh battery size, 5,000 * 130 = 650,000.

Charging Smartphones and Laptops

Of course, that’s just an example, there are plenty of phones that have smaller battery sizes, such as the iPhone 11, 11 Pro Max, the regular Samsung Galaxy S20, the Note 10 and many more that have 4,000mAH batteries or smaller. You also have to take into consideration that you’re likely going to be charging many smartphones at the same time, but even then, you can charge five smartphones at the same time to full power and this power station will still have a ton of power left over to use. It can last a week without needing a recharge when it comes to charging smartphones and even laptops, as most modern laptops have 5,000mAh to 7,000mAh batteries.

12Volt Outlet Capacity

The power capacity when it comes to using DC 12Volt outlet will be less, but there’s still plenty to use. Since this port uses 12Volts, you just replace the 3.7V that we used last time and replace it with 12V.

(2400)*1,000 = 2,400,000 / 12V = 200,000mAh

So there is substantially less power to use, but at the same time, 200,000mAh is still a ton of power to use with this power station. There is also the AC outlet that that will result in more consumption of the power capacity from the power station, but that’s more about what you’re powering with wattage, so let’s go over the powering that this MAXOAK EB240 can deliver.

Output Charging:

There are a total of three ways to use this power station, and that would from its five USB ports, single DC 12Volt port or the two AC outlets it has. Yup, two outlets, this power source seriously has it all.

Let’s start with the USB ports.

USB ports:

There are four USB-A ports, and they each come in pairs of two and share a 3 Amp charging speed for each pair. Each USB-A port can output 3 Amps charging power, but since they share the 3 Amps, too, if you’re charging two devices at once with a pair, then you won’t be able to get the full 3 Amp charging.

None of the USB-A ports features Quick Charge, but a 15W (3 Amps) is still quite fast and faster than a regular 12W output that you’ll find on most other power stations and power banks.

USB-C Power Delivery

Below the USB-A ports is where you’ll find the more powerful USB-C Power Delivery port. The PD port has a 45W charging speed, and this can easily be useful for charging USB-C laptops. It can be most helpful for those that own USB-C MacBooks, and any other laptops that use a USB-C port for charging. In the image above, we’re charging the Microsoft Surface Go via the USB-C PD port.

Sure, you can connect a USB-C Power Delivery wall charger to the AC outlet, and charge from there, but with the use of a PD port, it frees up an outlet for something else, like an extra appliance to plugin.

12Volt DC Cigarette Lighter Port:

When it comes to using 12Volt ports, you’re either going to find a way to use it, or you may not. That said, if you’re going to purchase this power station, then chances are you know what you’re going to do with it.

In our case, we did find a use for it and that was to power it with a Tire air pump for cars. The car pump that we used can connect to a 12Volt outlet that you find in your car, but the tire pump that we used requires quite a bit of power, and so using your car to power it may not be the best idea.

That said, using it with the EB240 held no problems and it worked perfectly to fill up tire pressure.

Two AC Outlets:

The main reason to get this power station are the AC outlets, because they’re able to output 1000Watts of power, and this a ton of power that can power quite a few appliances if you ever need to in an emergency or if you’re traveling around in your car and need a reliable source of portable power.

Each of the outlets accepts three-prong plugs, so you’re able to plug in three-prong adapters or two-prong adapters.

Since it has a 1000Watt power output, you’re able to plugin some powerful appliances. We connected a few appliances that met the 1000W power output or lower. Just remember to check the power output for the appliance that you want to connect to the power station because anything over the 1000W output will automatically turn the power station off.

Use it to Power an Air Purifier + Fan

We connected a Winix 5500-2 air purifier, and the MAXOAK power station ran it perfectly.

We even turned it up to the highest setting for the fan and it ran just like normal.

Use it to Power a Vaccum

Then we moved onto connecting a Shark vacuum that was rated at 700W, and EB240 powered it perfectly just as a regular wall outlet would have.

Powering a Sandwich Maker

Let’s say you want to make yourself a sandwich with a sandwich maker, but you don’t have any power due to some bad weather, or other reasons, this power station has your back. We were able to connect a 750W sandwich to the MAXOAK power station and it fully powered it.

Powering a Saw

The outlets are also powerful enough power to power a Reciprocating Saw, and the one that we used was using up to 720W. It’s perfect to use an electrical saw or drill with the power station because you can use it outside where it’s a lot safer, and so you don’t make a mess in your home.

Limits to what you can Power at the Same Time

Okay, with all that said, the two AC outlets share the 1000W max output, so you can’t use two sandwich makers at the same time, you can only use one. That said, you can use something like the 750W sandwich maker that we used, and power a fan or an Air Purifier because the power output won’t be more than 1000Watts.

Input Charging:

The MAXOAK portable power station comes with two days that you can use to recharge it. One is an AC adapter that you plug into a wall outlet, and the other is a Solar connector that you would connect to a Solar panel and connect the Solar cord to the power station.

The AC adapter can recharge the power station at 160W. While the Solar recharging, depending on what Solar panel that you’re using is able to recharge the power station at 500W. That said, the Solar recharging speed is going to differ depending on sunlight exposure and so the more constant recharge method would be the AC adapter.

It would have been nice to have a car charger adapter as well, but if you’ve already got this power station fully recharged at home, and want to travel with it in your car, you’ve got a ton of power to still use.

Design

Size and Weight:

With a 2400Wh power capacity, two AC outlets that output 1000W, five USB ports and 12Volt DC port, you can bet that this power station is pretty big.

The length of the power station is 19.4 inches, it has a width of 14.4 inches and a thickness of 6.5 inches. The weight of the power station is 48.5 pounds. In terms of what the power station can do, such as possibly powering two appliances at the same time and charging five devices at once, it has a decent size.

So you can fit this power station in your trunk, store it in a closet in your home for when you need, or place it in your living room for when you want to use it.

The weight of the power station is where we were surprised because this is a heavy power station with a weight of 48.5 pounds. The power station does have a large handle at the top and it’s best to use it when you want to pick it up, and we highly recommend using your legs first to pick it.

The power station being heavy is not a flaw, it’s what you get with such enormous power to use, but just know that this isn’t the type of power station to hold for a long duration of time.

Functional Components:

There are two sides to the power station to use. One side has an LCD digital screen, three power buttons, the five USB ports, and the 12Volt DC port.

The other side has the two AC outlets and a large space for the built-in fan to blow air out from.

To turn on the power station you have to hold down the top power button for about 2-3 seconds, and then you have to hold the AC power button to turn on AC outlets or hold down the DC power button to turn on the USB ports and the 12Volt carport.

The digital screen shows the remaining power capacity of the power station with a battery logo that has segments, so each segment is worth 20% of the remaining power.

To the right, three rows show the input wattage power, the DC output power and the AC power output in watts. The screen also shows which segment is on, and off. It’s a great way to know how much power you’re currently using, so you don’t go over the 1000W limit of the power station. It also keeps you informed on how fast the power station is recharging.

Also, just so you know, you can not recharge and use the power station at the same time.

Build

Structure and Material:

The structural build quality of this MAXOAK power station is very good, but at the same time, you do need to take caution when handling it. It’s not a shockproof power station and neither is it waterproof.

So you should not be dropping this power station, hitting it against another surface or expose it to water. But the build quality of it is solid, with the side panels being solid, and the USB ports and AC outlets providing a good grip to the cables that you place into them.

There are rubber pads at the bottom that are raised, so when you place the power station on the ground, it’s not fully on the ground.

The handle at the top is large, and it’s so big that you can potentially grab onto it with two hands. There is also a rubber grip at the bottom that makes it easier to hold.

Tech:

Since this power station is capable of outputting 1000W of power, MAXOAK has a built-in fan that turns on once the power station reaches an output of over 400W when using the AC outlets or over 80W when using the 12Volt outlet to keep things cool. The fan also turns on when you’re recharging using an AC adapter, and also for Solar recharging.

Also, you’ll know when the fan is on as it’s not exactly loud, but it’s enough so that you can hear, and so you’re probably not going to want to power higher wattage appliances while you’re sleeping with this power station.

Reliability

This MAXOAK EB240 is likely the most reliable power station that you will purchase. It has a ton of power that can last for days or weeks depending on what you’re using it for. The power output of 1000W makes it so you can power a wider range of appliances, and it features Power Delivery of the five USB ports that it has.

The size of the power station is large, but that is be expected with the amount of power it holds, as those Lithium-Polymer batteries have to fit somewhere. The weight of the power station is the main part that is not so reliable as it’s a heavy power station weighing in at 48.5 pounds.

It’s not the most reliable as a power station for carrying in your hand for a long time, but it can be easily placed in your car and be taken to a campsite or a picnic.

Summary:

Power:

The EB240 has a ton of power with its ability to charge smartphones to full power hundreds of times and being able to charge laptops many times as well. You’re able to power appliances within the 1000W range which makes the types of appliances that you can power with this power station quite vast.

Design:

The size of the power station is decent for what it has to offer, but it’s the weight of 48.5 pounds that you should be prepared for, as it’s not exactly easy to carry for a long duration of time. Using the power station is easy, as there are three main buttons to use and the digital display that tell you which parts are on/off and how much power is being outputted.

Build:

The build quality is pretty good, and sure the power station is not waterproof or shockproof but it is built well and can be used constantly without any wear and tear happening.

The power station does have a built-in fan to cool it down.

Reliability:

With so much power to offer from its insanely high power capacity to its high 1000W power output, this is likely the most reliable power station that you can own.
