A convenient way to charge your smartphone is wireless charging, as you don’t have to worry about placing a cable into your smartphone. With the creation of MagSafe, Apple’s magnetic wireless charger, wireless charging has become more accessible than ever. This is because you’re able to magnetically stick the charger to the back of the phone, so you don’t have to keep your phone in a single spot as it wirelessly charges.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this RAVPower MagSafe wireless charger pad. If you want to support a brand other than Apple and save a few bucks, then we highly recommend this one. That said, let’s take a closer look to see what it’s capable of.

Power

Output Charging:

The great part about MagSafe wireless charging and basically wireless charging in general for a lot of smartphones is that it’s becoming faster. A few years ago, the only charging speed that you would be able to get for a Qi wireless charging compatible smartphone would be 5W.

This RAVPower MagSafe charging pad can output 15W of charging power to an iPhone 12, iPhone Pro, or an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Those are the only iPhones that are currently available that can charge at that charging speed, also, the iPhone 12 is the only compatible smartphone that compatible to be used with the magnetic component of this charger.

As you cannot stick this charger to the back of most other smartphones. Sure, this charger may stick a little, but it won’t be nearly as magnetically attached as on the iPhone 12.

With all that said, the charging power of this RAVPower wireless charging pad carries over to other Qi wireless charging smartphones. Such as this charger being able to charge Samsung phones at 10W, previous wireless charging iPhone models can charge at 7.5W, LG phones can fast charge at 15W and this charger is compatible to charge any wireless charging smartphone.

So charging power is not lacking for this MagSafe charging pad.

Input Charging:

To use this RAVPower MagSafe charging pad at full power, you must at least use a 20W Power Delivery wall charger. The best part is that this charger comes with a single port 20W mini Power Delivery wall charger in the box, and so you can start using it right out of the box.

Design

Size and Weight:

The size of the MagSafe wireless charging pad is about the same as Apple’s MagSafe charger, with this RAVPower one measuring in with a 2.44-inch diameter and a 0.24-inch thickness. The charger weighs 2.9 Ounces. The PD wall charger that comes in the box is very tiny, one of the smallest wall chargers that we have ever seen, and you can take that wherever you go.

Functional Components:

Using this MagSafe charger is simple, and it’s definitely what Apple was going for when they created the charger. As it no longer requires you to use a charging port and makes wireless charging more portable. The MagSafe is a wireless charging cable.

There are rumors that Apple may remove the charging port entirely for the iPhone 13, and we honestly think that they may be true. Of course, those are still just rumors but remember, we’re talking about Apple here.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this RAVPower 15W MagSafe charger is great. The charger holds well to the back of a phone and begins charging immediately. The great benefit of MagSafe is that you no longer have to fiddle around with the wireless charger to make sure that it’s centering with the coil in your smartphone as it magnetically finds its way to the coil.

Tech:

The charger and your smartphone will run a little warm when using this wireless charger, but that is completely normal as wireless charging generates quite a bit of heat during charging.

Reliability

This RAVPower MagSafe wireless charging pad is going to be the most reliable for those that own an iPhone 12. As it’s the main phone that is compatible with the magnetic feature of the MagSafe and has the charger sticking to the back of the phone.

You could use this charger for charging any Qi wireless charging smartphone, but the charger will not stick to the back.
