Portable chargers are capable of a lot these days and for the most part, we here at Charger Harbor actually find power banks to be a lot more useful than a wall charger. The reason for that is because, with wall chargers, you have to keep your smartphone or any other device that you’re charging in a single spot. However, with power banks, you can take your smartphone where you want, or basically any other devices such as a laptop or tablet and charge it too.
As a result, you can just use a USB wall charger for just recharging your power bank most of the time and just leave charging your smartphone for a power bank. It’s actually gotten to the point where power banks keep excelling in many different areas and this RAVPower portable charger is proof of that.
This RAVPower 26,800mAh portable charger that uses a USB-C port along with its other powerful charging features and very high power capacity is a testament to show you just how powerful portable charging is. So let’s take a closer look to see what it has to offer.
The power capacity of this charger is one of its largest and most useful features, and that’s because it starts out with 26,800mAh of power capacity to use. The reason that we’re saying that it starts out with this much power capacity is because that’s not all the power capacity that you’re actually able to use. As power capacity goes through a conversion during charging and therefore power is lost. So let’s see how much usable power you’re able to receive.
3.7 x 26,800 = 99,160 / 5 = 19,832

So you’re actually able to use about 20,000mAh of output power capacity of the 26,800mAh that this charger has. Now it might sound bad, but this is the case with nearly all power banks on the market as there’s really no way of stopping the loss of power during charging. With that said, even with it being quite a bit lower than what the power bank initially starts out with, it’s still a lot of power.
As you’re able to charge many smartphones, such as the iPhone 8 to its full power about 8 times, and iPhone X with its 2,716mAh capacity can charge 6.5 times to full power. Charging Android smartphones which have larger batteries will still yield many charges, such as the Galaxy S8 charging to full power about 6 times and the Galaxy Note 8 charging 5 times to full power. Overall, this RAVPower portable charger dominates when it comes to charging smartphones and it can very well constantly keep charging for a few days without the power bank having to need a recharge.
Larger devices such as laptops and tablets are also capable of charging with this power bank. That said, we should mention that laptops that use USB-C for charging are able to charge with this power bank. Most larger devices such as these ones are able to charge to their full power about two times. Which is impressive as most tablets and laptops have a battery capacity of 8,000mAh or more.
Charging with RAVPower 26,800mAh power bank is a blast, but at the same time, it doesn’t feature any special charging tech that some might expect from a portable charger with this amount of power capacity.
Two USB-A Ports –
There are two USB-A charging ports and each of them has a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. The ports do not feature Quick Charge and so they will not charge your Quick Charge compatible smartphone at their max charging speed. Even though that’s a negative side of this power bank if you’re someone that does own a Quick Charge device, at the same time, it makes this power bank more sensible to purchase for everyone.
That’s because a standard charging rate of 5V/2.4A is able to charge most Non-Quick Charge devices at their max charging speeds. Another thing to know when it comes to charging power from the USB-A ports is that the Max output between them is 3.1A. As a result, you can’t use the max charging power of the two ports at the same time. So if are using both the ports at once, then each of them would charge at 5V/1.5A.
It would have been much better if the max output capabilities of the USB-A port section were 4.8A, so you could use the full power of the ports at the same time.
USB-C Port –
Then there’s the third output of this power bank which is the USB-C port. It has a charging rate of 5V/3.0A. You can use a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to charge USB-C compatible devices with it, or you can use a USB-C to Lighting charging cable to charge an iPhone X or iPhone 8 slightly faster than using the USB-A ports.
This USB-C port on this power bank does not feature Power Delivery, this is simply standard USB-C charging. That said, it can still charge USB-C compatible smartphones, laptops such as the MacBook and it can also charge gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch.
Max Output –
The max output of this RAVPower portable charger is 5.4A. The charging rate that is going to be the most affected if you’re reaching the max output of the USB-A ports as that’s where the first cap of 3.1A is. So you don’t have to worry about the charging speed of the USB-C port slowing down.
Recharging this power bank can be done through two ports and we’re actually glad to say that it can be done through both of them at the same time. With there being a Micro-USB input that has a recharge rate of 5V/2.0A, so you should make sure that you’re using a 2 Amp charging port with your wall charger for that input port. Then the other input is the USB-C input which has a recharge rate of 5V/3.0A, and if you want to recharge through the USB-C port at its max charging speed then you should use a Quick Charge wall charger.
Using the two input ports at the same time will result in a full recharge within 6.5 hours and that’s actually very fast considering that this power bank has a 26,800mAh capacity. Using an input port alone can take about 2-3 hours longer for recharging this power bank.
Size and Weight:
This is a large power bank, and even though most portable chargers these days that have high capacities are becoming smaller, we think this one has a good reason to be quite large. The reason being that it has a VERY high capacity and it has quite a few charging options that go with it.
It has a length of 6.8 inches, a width of 3.2 inches, and the thickness of this charger is actually quite slim at 0.79 inches. The weight of this power bank is 1 pound. So it’s long and heavy, not really something that you would want to hold or place in your pocket for long periods of time. It’s definitely the type of power bank that you travel with and use at a location where you set it down.
Using this RAVPower 26,800mAh power bank is actually very simple and that’s because it has a most of its functional parts near the same area.
It has all of its charging ports and 4 Blue LED power capacity indicators on a single side. On the long side of this charger is where you find the power button for the charger. You have to press the power button to begin charging your devices, no matter what charging port you’re using.
Structure and Material:
It has a good build, but it’s not made of Aluminum and instead it’s made of plastic, Even so, the charger feels great to use with the USB charging ports holding charging cables very well.
If you’re charging multiple devices at once with this power bank, it will start to get warm and that’s what you can expect. As there’s more charging power being released and it’s not something that you should worry about. Unless the power bank gets hot.
This power bank has a very high power capacity that is very reliable for charging smartphones, tablets, and laptops to full power multiple times over. Charging is also a very powerful part as there are three charging ports to use, but there is no use of Quick Charge. So if you’re searching for a high capacity power bank that uses Quick Charge, then we recommend taking a look at RAVpower’s 20100 power bank that uses Quick Charge and USB-C.
Recharging is a very reliable feature of this charger and that’s because it uses two input ports that can be used at the same time or individually.
There’s a lot of power capacity to be used with many devices, from smartphones to laptops being able to charge to full power multiple times. Charging power is pretty good with two powerful USB-A ports and a USB-C port.
It’s a large power bank, and not easy to carry in your hands for long periods of time. It’s easy to use but you have to press the power button to begin charging.
The build is very good with the charging ports holding on very well to charging cables that you consent to them.
This high capacity power bank, like most, is very reliable with its capacity and charging power. Not so reliable if you’re searching for one that uses Power Delivery or Quick Charge.
