At this point, Power Delivery car chargers are pretty standard. Still, if you’re looking for one that comes from a reputable brand that delivers fast charging and has excellent quality, then you should be selective on which car charger you choose.

This review looks at this UGREEN 30W 2-Port PPS car charger that fits most car charging needs and even comes with a cable. This comes from UGREEN, a trusted brand in the charging space for many years.

Power

Output Charging:

The charging from the UGREEN car charger is fast and easy to understand. The charger has a USB-A Quick Charge port with a 30W output and a USB-C port with a 30W output; the max output of the charger is 30W. This means that you can only fast charge one device at a time because charging two devices simultaneously results in each of the ports outputting 12W.

For our testing, we used a cigarette lighter port on a GRECELL T-300 power station to plug the car charger into. The car charger will function the same way in a car as in our tests; we found this testing method to be better for photos and showing the devices charging.

We used a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to fast charge from the USB-A port and charged a Galaxy S20 from the USB-A port simultaneously, and this resulted in the two phones’ only standard charging because each of the ports is outputting 12W.

After charging the two phones simultaneously, we unplugged the Galaxy S20, and the Note 9 was only charging, and this caused the Note 9 to fast charge from the USB-A port. We then plugged in the Galaxy S20 and unplugged the Note 9, and this caused the S20 to super fast charge. The S20 can super fast charge from the USB-C port when it’s charging alone because the USB-C port features Programmable Power Supply (PPS) charging that allows compatible phones to charge faster, and in this case, it would be 25W.

The 30W USB-C Power Delivery port is helpful for fast charging most phones as even iPhones are compatible with a USB-C port as long as you have a USB-C to Lightning cable. You can even charge some USB-C chargeable laptops with this UGREEN car charger via the USB-C port, but most laptops require at least a 45W Power Delivery charge rate to charge; however, you may still be able to at least charge Macbooks from the USB-C port.

Included in the box is a 1-meter braided USB-C to USB-C charging cable, so if you plan on charging a USB-C chargeable device, you can do so right out of the box.

Design

Size and Weight:

This is a small car charger with a length of about 2 inches only and a thickness of 1 inch. Once you place the car charger into your car port, about an inch sticks out, so it’ll be barely noticeable.

Functional Components:

Using this UGREEN car charger is just like using any other car charger. All you have to do is plug the charger into a V12 car port on your car, and it’s ready to use. There is a blue LED light that turns on within the USB-A port to show that it’s on and also makes the charger easier to see during the nighttime.

Build

Structure and Material:

The charger is made of Aluminum Alloy, so it feels a lot more premium than chargers made of plastic, and because of the building design, you don’t have to worry about the charger coming apart when you pull it out of the port. The charger does not move once you plug it in because the design connectors make it sit tight.

Tech:

If the charger overheats, such as in the summer, when it can be a big concern, the charging speed may be slowed down to cool the charger.

Reliability

If you have a USB-C chargeable device, such as a tablet or phone, then this UGREEN 30W car charger will be reliable, mainly because of its 30W output from the USB-C port, and the charger includes a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. It’s also a great plus if you have a device that is compatible with PPS, such as Samsung phones, like the Galaxy S20 and onwards.

This charger is not so reliable for charging laptops as most laptops require that you use more of a 30W PD charger.

Charging power is pretty good because the USB-A port and the USB-C port have a 30W output when charging a single device at a time—charging two devices simultaneously does lower charging speed considerably from both pots, though. The USB-C port features PPS for fast charging for specific devices, and the charger includes a USB-C to USB-C charging cable.

Design:

This tiny charger will be barely noticeable when you plug it into your car. A blue LED power light makes the charger easier to see at night.

Reliability:

It will be very reliable if you’re looking to fast charge phones and tablets with this UGREEN car charger. It’s not reliable for charging USB-C laptops.
