Upon receiving the Wattcycle battery, the packaging contents are straightforward. Included with the battery itself are four post bolts, protective rubber caps for positive and negative terminals, and the user manual. The package contents are standard for a battery of this class, but the inclusion of four post bolts is better than most batteries because most batteries only include two. For those looking to acquire a charger or inverter cables, these must be sourced independently, as they are not part of the bundle.

Dimensions and Build

 

The physical specifications of the battery are compact and manageable, with dimensions of 10 inches in length, 6 inches in width, and 8 inches in height, and it weighs in at 23 pounds. The inclusion of a removable strap is a thoughtful touch, enhancing portability. Regarding its ability to handle the cold, the battery’s low-temperature charging protection is active below 32°F, and it resumes normal charging above 39°F. The discharging protection is active at -4°F and resumes regular options above 39°F. Its IP65 water-resistance rating is significant, as it means the battery is well-protected against water jets and can withstand exposure to moisture – an important feature for marine applications or outdoor use.

Battery Capacity and Efficiency

The rated capacity for the Wattcycle battery is 12.8V 100Ah, equating to a 1280Wh energy reserve, akin to what one might expect from a high-capacity power station. To gauge the actual usable capacity, I conducted tests to determine the battery’s efficiency. Through a load test simulating a 120W draw, the battery met and exceeded expectations, providing 1296Wh of energy, translating to a 101% capacity efficiency. This exemplary performance suggests that the Wattcycle battery delivers on its promises and even offers a surplus.

Testing the battery with an inverter yielded an AC capacity of 1,060Wh, representing an 82% AC efficiency. So, the AC capacity for this Wattcycle battery is a little lower than that of other batteries I’ve reviewed. However, this may be because the Wattcycle battery could continuously supply power to an inverter, powering a heater on its high setting.

Performance and Power

I was impressed by the performance of the Wattcycle battery supply power through an inverter. I used a LiTime 2000W Pure Sine Wave inverter and connected the battery to the inverter. I started by setting a heater to its low setting, which pulled about 750W and ran well, and then I set it to its high setting, which pulled about 1300W. The Wattcycle battery is rated to supply 1280W of power, and for the most part, of the other 1280Wh batteries I’ve reviewed, they all shut down after a few minutes if the power load goes over 1280W.

However, this Wattcycle battery could continuously supply power to the LiTime inverter and power the heater on its high setting until it was fully depleted. So you can pull more than just the 1280W that this battery is advertised to supply, but only a little more.
