13 Best Power Banks that are $20 and Under

(Last Updated On: June 20, 2017)

For the most part, power banks are not expensive electronics and the only reason that a power bank is going to be expensive is when it has a high power capacity or if it has some awesome charging capabilities. With that said, we all want something that’s on the affordable side and power banks that are still able to deliver a quality portable charging experience.

That is why in this article, I’ll be going over the best power banks that you can get for $20 or under. These portable chargers hold their low prices while still providing a low cost for you. Let’s see what they have to offer.

PowerCore 5000

Anker PowerCore 5000

First on this list is PowerCore 5000. The Anker PowerCore 5000 is one of Anker’s latest power banks that is the latest in their Mini power bank section. Most small portable chargers are now using 5,000mAh and it has proven to be quite useful. The reason for that is because they’re able to charge most smartphones about once and possibly give a halfway charge through as well. A lot better for people that use smartphones that are on the higher end of the battery capacity such as an iPhone 7, Galaxy S7 or a Google Pixel.

Another reason that the PowerCore 5000 is a great power bank is because of its charging speeds. Most of the time, Mini power banks have slow charging speeds, but this one has an upgrade with it having an Output 5V/2.0A and an Input of 5V/2.0A. 2 Amp charging speeds are a lot better than the common 1 Amp that most power banks have.

The size of this PowerCore is larger than power banks that have 3,000mAh power capacities although that’s to be expected because it uses a larger battery. However, it’s still very small that it can literally be taken anywhere.

There you have it, that’s the reason that the PowerCore 5000 is one of the best power banks that is under $20.

Specs of the PowerCore 5000:

  • Capacity: 5,000mAh
  • Output: 5V/2.0A
  • Input: 5V/2.0A via Micro USB Input
  • LED Power Indicators: Three-LED status system
  • Size: 4.2 x 1.3 x 1.3 inches
  • Weight: 4.8 ounces
  • 18-month warranty

PowerAdd Pilot X7 20,000mAh Power Bank

Coming in at just $20, this is the PowerAdd Pilot X7 power bank and surprisingly it has a 20,000mAh power capacity. Now you may be thinking that the quality of this power bank is quite bad and that’s actually not really the case. The reason that I say that because even tough it doesn’t feature the best things that a high capacity power bank is able to feature, it still holds up quite well.

There are two USB ports so you can charge two devices at once. However, one of the ports features 5V/2.1A speeds and the other port features 5V/1.0A charging speeds. You’re going to want to use the 2.1A port first because it has faster-charging speeds.

Then the recharging of the power bank is 5V/2.0A which isn’t too bad but you’re definitely going to want to put it on recharging when you go to sleep. The main event of this power bank is its power capacity which is 20,000mAh and that means you’re able to charge smartphones, tablets, and other devices multiple times; sure the conversion rate may not be the best but it still holds up well for a power bank is that $20.

Specs of the PowerAdd X7 20,000mAh Power Bank:

  • Capacity:            Advertised: 20,000mAh            Real Capacity: 14,000mAh

Slim power banks are among the most useful Mini power banks to have and the reason for that is because they’re about the same size as a smartphone. It has a 5,000mAh power capacity and it’s still able to hold onto its Slim form factor and its power capacity is able to charge smartphones about once or twice.

Jackery Mini Premium Power Bank

Jackery Mini

For the most part, even though there are Mini power banks that have 5,000mAh of power capacities, the ones that have 3,000mAh are still the ones that are used the most. The reason for that is because a 3,000mAh power capacity makes a power bank able to be smaller and more lightweight than one that has a 5,000mAh power capacity.

That is why this Jackery Mini power bank has been selling so well on the market. It has a low power capacity, but that’s what makes it so awesome to use; as it’s mostly meant for recharging a smartphone only once but it can literally be taken anywhere.

Charging speeds are standard when it comes to power banks that have low power capacities with the Output being 5V/1.0A and the Input being 5V/1.5A which is actually better than most Mini power banks on the Jackery Mini’s level.

Jackery Jewel Lightning Cable

One of the most innovative ways power banks have been implemented is being implemented within a charging cable and this Jackery Jewel is proof of that. It’s a Lightning charging cable that has a very small power bank that’s built-into the center of it. Unfortunately, there’s only a Lightning cable variant of this power bank so Android users that use USB-C or Micro-USB for charging will have to sit this one out.

Also, even though this power bank is very small and its power capacity is only 450mAh it’s still an innovative product. That’s because the Jackery Jewel doesn’t need to be connected into a charging electronic such as a USB wall charger to charge your devices. As long the Jackery Jewel has a power capacity you can just plug the device into an iPhone or iPad and it’ll begin charging. It’s able to charge an iPhone 7 about 20% to full power with its power capacity at full.

The Output and Input charging speeds are 5V/1.0A; nothing too impressive but it still holds up to a lot of Mini power banks out there on the market.

Specs of the Jackery Jewel Lightning Power Cable:

  • Capacity:            450mAh
  • Output:   5V/1.0A
  • Input:      5V/1.0A
  • LED Power Indicators: Just uses a small Green Light
  • Size: Charging Cable is 3.3 Feet long and the Power Bank portion is 3 inches long
  • Weight: 1.2 Ounces
