Depending on what battery case you go with, you’re going to have a slightly different experience then either of the cases that you’re choosing from and that’s because battery cases are quite a dynamic charging electronic, as they’re basically portable chargers. So there are ones that have higher and lower power capacities, slim ones and thicker ones and some of them also provide more protection than others.

In this review, we’re going to be taking a look at this Elebase Galaxy S9 battery case. We have also done a review on their Galaxy S8 battery case which we found to be pretty good, so let’s see if this next generation one is even better.

Power

Power Capacity:

The power capacity of most battery cases on the market is 3,000mAh to 4,000mAh. However, this Elebase battery case has a slightly higher power capacity of 4,700mAh, so let’s calculate how much of this power you’re actually able to receive.

3.7 x 4,700 = 17,390 / 5 = 3,478

So the actual amount of power capacity that you’re able to make use of from this battery case is going to be about 3,400mAh and this is actually very good. The reason that this much power capacity is great is that the S9 has a 3,000mAh battery and so you can rest assured that you’re going to be getting a full recharge.

With that said, just something to remember is that getting a full charge is likely going to happen if you’re not using your S9. As using the S9 and charging it at the same time will result in the battery case refilling used up power constantly and slightly charging up the battery for your S9.

Output Charging:

The charging speed of the Elebase battery cases has always been quite good and that’s the same case here as the charging output is 5V/1.8A. This is not Quick Charge speeds but it’s fast enough to charge the S9 while you’re using it.

Input Charging:

The Elebase battery case is recharged through a USB-C input port and it also has a 5V/1.8A recharging speed, so we recommend that you use a 2 Amp wall charger or higher to recharge it. The case does not feature wireless recharging and your S9 is not able to recharge wirelessly while the case is on.

Design

Size and Weight:

Of course, since this is a battery case it’s going to be larger and heavier than just a regular case. This Elebase case has a length of 6.6 inches, a width of 3 inches and a thickness of 0.7 inches. The weight of the case is 5.2 Ounces. So the length of this case is a tad longer than most other battery cases as most other ones have a 6.2-inch length. The thickness is the largest difference that you’re going to experience with a battery case as you’ll notice it more in your pocket, but at the same time, with more thickness, you get a better grip.

Functional Components:

When it comes to using this Elebase battery case for your S9, it’s very much like other battery cases on the market but with a few differences. At the back of the case, instead of making use of the usual four power capacity indicators, this case just has one power indicator that changes colors to indicate how much power it has left. Also, the power indicator is located directly on the power button.

To turn on the battery case and start charging, you have to hold the power button down for about 3 seconds and do the same thing to turn the case off.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this S9 battery case in terms of providing protection to your S9 is pretty good and holds up with many other battery cases on the market. As this one features full protection of the sides and back of the S9. That said, at the front, the raised bezels are only located at the top and bottom. So if you drop your smartphone on either of the two sides with the bezels then it’s safe. However, if it falls on either the right, left or plainly flat, then the fall will be cushioned but there’s no guarantee that the screen is 100% protected.

Tech:

If you’re recharging the battery case and charging your S9 from the case, then the case does tend to get a little warm. That said, if you’re solely just charging your S9 with the case then it doesn’t get warm at all.

Reliability

This Elebase battery case is quite standard and that’s what makes it so reliable, it has enough power capacity to charge the S9 to full power and it has a fast charging speed that can charge the S9 at a pretty good rate. The least reliable part is the frontal protection of your screen, but at the same time, most battery cases for the S9 and S8 can’t really provide full protection because of the curved screen.

Summary:

Power:

The power capacity is enough to charge the S9 to full power about two times.

Design:

It makes use of a single power indicator instead of four and the power indicator is located on the power button. You can recharge the battery case and sync with a computer at the same time.

Build:

The protection of the battery case is standard but it does not have the full protection of the front.

Reliability:

The battery case features all the right specs for a Galaxy S9, from its power to its design.
