A portable jump starter power bank may be a more reliable portable charger to own than a regular one because it can jump-start your car. It doesn’t just stop there; they can also charge your smartphone, have powerful flashlights, some can even double as a tire inflator, and others can have AC outlets to power appliances.

In this review, we’re looking at this Fanttik T8 2000 Amp portable jump starter that may be more reliable than most other jump-starters that you can get. Let’s take a look at why that is.

Power

Power Capacity:

This Fanntik jump-starter has a 20,0000mAh power capacity, and that’s about the amount of power you want a portable jump-starter to have. That’s because it has enough power to jump-start most vehicles about ten times or more, and you’re going to want enough power that can last a long time in case you ever need to use this power bank for emergencies, which is what it’s mainly for. Also, if you’ve got this power bank charged up to full power and you’re storing it in your car, it can be stored for up to 24 months while still retaining power.

In terms of the power capacity for charging smartphones, tablets, or laptops, a 20,000mAh power capacity can be handy. Most phones can charge to full power about two times with a 20,000mAh capacity, while tablets or laptops can fair one charge. That said, remember that charging your devices will deplete the ability of the power bank significantly if you’re charging for a long duration; this can decrease the number of times you can jump-start or crank your car when you’re trying to jump-start it.

Output Charging:

The main reason to get this Fanntik power bank is to jump-start your car if you ever need to. It be can be used to jump-start 8.5L gasoline vehicles or 6.0L Diesel vehicles. It can jump-start most cars no matter how large or small they are, and it can do that because of its 2000 Amp 12 Volt jump-starting output. Included in the box is a jump-starting cable adapter clamp that you can use to connect to the power bank and then connect Red and Black clamps to the battery.

Once you have the clamps attached to the Positive and Negative points on your battery, you then have to press the power button for about 2 seconds, and then the screen on top of the power bank will read “Start 12V,” and then you can crank your car to jump-start it.

Also included in the box with the power bank is a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable because this power bank has one USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A port.

This is where this Fanttik portable jump-starter can be better than most others on the market because it has a 65W USB-C PD port, which allows you to charge most USB-C laptops, and it can also be used to fast charge most smartphones and tablets. The USB-A port on this power bank features Quick Charge that can fast charge most Android smartphones and be used as an available port for charging most other phones or tablets.

However, going back to the 65W USB-C PD port, we charged a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 via the PD port, and the laptop was able to charge at its max charging speed. So if you have a USB-C laptop, it’s one more reason to get this Fanntik portable jump-starter as it adds to jump-starting your car. This is one of the best chargers to own for a road trip.

Input Charging:

Recharging this Fanntik power bank is another strong point because you can recharge it via the same USB-C port, and it can be recharged at 65W. You will have to provide your own 65W Power Delivery wall charger, and we recommend our SAIL01 65W charger to get this jump-starter back to full power within just one hour.

Design

Size and Weight:

Portable jump-starters are always larger and heavier than regular power banks because more circuitry is involved for the jump-starting mechanism, this is no different. This Fanttik jump starter has a length of 9.2 inches, a width of 3.7 inches, and a thickness of 1.7 inches. The weight of the power bank is 3 pounds. So, yes, it’s a big piece of portable power, but not unmanageable.

If you’re keeping it in your car for storage, you won’t have to worry about its size, and if even if you want to use it to charge your laptop, it’s still small and lightweight enough to be portable. It definitely won’t be fitting into your pocket.

Functional Components:

As we mentioned before, this jump-starter comes with everything you need to start using it, except for a Power Delivery wall charger for recharging the unit. You get the jump-starting clamps, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-A cable in the box. You can also place the power bank into a carrying pouch.

You have to use quite a few functional parts on the jump-starter power bank. On top of the power bank is the power button that you hold down for about 2 seconds to turn on the power bank. Once on, the LED display shows the remaining power capacity, charging status for input or output, and the jump-starting status.

To the sides of the power bank is a water-resistant covering that goes over the USB-C and USB-A ports and another cover that goes over the jump-starting plugs. On the side of the jump-starting plug is where you’ll find the LED flashlight, and there is a power button for the flashlight.

The flashlight does have a 400-lumen output, so it is pretty bright, and it has three settings; one being a constant on mode, another is the SOS mode, and there is also a Red light mode that does even faster blinking for emergencies.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this portable jump-starter is incredible, and it has more of a rugged build to it than a regular power bank. The jump-starter is IP65 water-resistant when you have the coverings over the ports.

Tech:

The main concern for the internals of this portable jump-starter and most others is that you must give the jump-starter a break between cranks. That’s because cranking your car when trying to jump-start results in the batteries of the portable jump-starter heating up, and too much heat can cause them to expand.

So it’s best to wait a minute and let the batteries take a cool down before you have to do another crank.

Reliability

Nearly everything about this Fanttik portable jump-starter is reliable, from its relatively high power capacity to its 2000 Amp jump-starting power, especially its 65W Power Delivery charging speed that can charge most laptops.

Summary:

Power:

The 2000 Amp peak current of the jump-starter can jump-start most vehicles, and in addition to that, you can charge most USB-C laptops with this power bank because it has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port. The jump-starter can also be recharged at 65W using a 65W Power Delivery wall charger.

Design:

The unit is large and heavier than a regular power bank. That said, it’s still entirely possible to hold and be portable with and can easily be stored in your car.

Build:

The build quality of the Fanttik jump-starter is tough, and it has an IP65 water-resistant rating when the coverings of the ports are sealed. Just make sure that you take a break between cranks when jump-starting to prevent overheating.

Reliability:

The reliability is very wide in this Fanttik T8 2000 Amp jump-starter because of its power capacity, charging capabilities, and included accessories.
