Best Power Banks for Surface Pro 8 in 2024

(Last Updated On: January 17, 2024)

The Surface Pro 8, Microsoft’s latest in its Surface series, combines high-end features seen in premium laptops and desktops into a 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrid. It features a powerful 11th Gen Intel Core processor, ranging from Core i5 in basic models to Core i7 in the more advanced ones, offering improved performance. Unlike previous versions, the Pro 8 starts with a minimum of 8GB RAM, with options to upgrade to 16GB or 32GB for more intensive use. Storage options include up to a 1TB SSD in the top models, and all models now use SSDs instead of the older flash memory.

A notable upgrade is the Pro 8’s 120Hz display, providing a smoother user experience. However, this high refresh rate may reduce battery life. Considering these features and the device’s portability, carrying a power bank for extended use is recommended. This guide will cover suitable power banks that can keep the Surface Pro 8 charged on the go.

Baseus 65W 20,000mAh Power Delivery Power Bank

The Surface Pro 8 charges best via its USB-C ports, which are more universal than the Surface Connect port. A power bank with a 45W Power Delivery (PD) output or higher is recommended for effective charging. The highlighted Baseus portable charger offers a 20,000mAh capacity, capable of charging the Pro 8’s 6,200mAh battery around 1.5 times, considering power loss during charging. This power bank features a 65W USB-C PD port and a USB-A Quick Charge port, suitable for fast charging the Pro 8 and other devices. When charging multiple devices, the USB-C PD output drops to 45W, which is still sufficient for the Surface. It recharges at 60W with a PD wall charger (not included) and has a slower Micro-USB input. Additionally, it includes an LCD for displaying power capacity and charging status and comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable but lacks a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Baseus Blade 100W Power Bank

Another Baseus power bank I want to recommend is this Baseus Blade; the charger is exactly what it sounds like, with a slim form factor. The more impressive part is that the Baseus Blade has a 100W Power Delivery output from either of its two USB-C ports. The charger also has two USB-A Quick Charge ports.

So you can charge your Surface Pro 8 at its maximum speed with its power bank. The max recharging speed is 65W, so I recommend using a 65W wall charger to recharge the power bank. The 20,000mAh capacity is a decent amount to keep the Pro 8 charged for many hours. The design of this Baseus power bank is unique because it has a screen at the top that shows the voltage and amperage that your Pro 8 is currently charging at; not many other power banks show these types of stats.

INIU B63 65W 25,000mAh PD Power Bank

This INIU 65W power bank is very similar to the previous Baseus power bank I recommend because this one also has a 65W Power Delivery port. Additionally, this charger has a 30W USB-C PD port and a USB-A 22.5W Quick Charge port. So you can fast charge your Surface Pro 8 while fast charging other devices simultaneously.

The 25,000mAh capacity of this INIU power bank is more than enough to charge the Surface Pro 8 to full power about one time and still have spare power to use later. The box with the INIU power bank includes a USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cable.

Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

The Excitrus portable charger is unique with its 9,600mAh capacity and a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port, typically seen in higher-capacity power banks. It can charge the Surface Pro 8 once before needing a recharge. Its small size makes it pocket-friendly, and features two additional USB-A Quick Charge ports. An LCD screen displays the power level. The package includes USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables but no wall charger. Recharging the power bank is efficient with its 45W input capability.

MAXOAK 26,756mAh AC Power Bank with Power Delivery

The MAXOAK charger stands out with its AC outlet, making it larger and more reliable than typical power banks. It has a 26,756mAh capacity, enough to charge the Surface Pro 8 about twice. This charger offers versatile charging options: an AC outlet for the Surface Connect charger and a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port for direct charging. Additionally, it has two USB-A Quick Charge ports for other devices. Despite its larger size, it remains portable and comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a 45W PD wall charger.

Crave PowerPack 50,000mAh 60W Power Delivery Power Bank

The Crave PowerPack portable charger, with its hefty 50,000mAh capacity, is one of the highest-capacity power banks available without an AC outlet. This large capacity allows it to charge the Surface Pro 8 over three times, making it ideal for extended use without frequent recharging, especially during travel or road trips. It features four outputs: two USB-C PD ports (18W for phones and 60W for laptops/tablets) and two USB-A Quick Charge ports. Despite its size and 4-pound weight, its massive power makes it a practical choice for those needing extended charge capacity.

Fanttik 2000 Amp Portable Jump Starter with 65W USB-C Power Delivery

Recommending a portable jump starter is unusual because a jump-starter power bank usually doesn’t have a strong enough Power Delivery port for charging laptops. We’re recommending this one, the Fanttik jump-starter because it does have a strong enough Power Delivery port.

Surprisingly, the Fanttik power bank has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A Quick Charge port. As I said, most jump-starter power banks don’t have such powerful USB-C ports; in our tests, we could charge a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop with the 65W PD port from this power bank, so it will be able to charge your Surface Pro 8.

The power bank does have a 20,000mAh power capacity that fits into charging your Surface Pro 8. There’s also the feature of this power bank being able to jump-start most vehicles with a 2000 Amp Peak current. I know the main reason to purchase this power bank is for jump-starting cars, in case you ever need to, but using such a powerful USB-C PD port is incredibly rare that having this power bank as your daily charger is possible.

The Fanttik portable jump starter power bank included in the box is a jumper cable adapter, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and a carrying pouch.
