In recent years, Microsoft’s Surface lineup of products have been game-changers because they’ve had specs that make them more worth purchasing. However, at the same time, some may find getting a Surface to be lackluster because of their prices; for the price, though, you’re getting top-tier specs that can be found on high-end laptops and desktop computers. In this case, though, all these specs are compressed into a 2 in 1 laptop that can transition easily to a tablet. The Surface Pro 8 is the newest coming from Microsoft, and it features all the latest specs that you would expect.
With the Surface Pro 8 featuring an 11th Gen Intel Core processor, the lower tier models have Core i5s, while the higher models have Core i7 processors that can make a massive difference to performance. One of the better improvements with this generation’s Surface Pro is that the Pro 8 no longer has a 4GB RAM model because, at this point, 4GB of RAM can’t do much anymore when it comes to the many programs that people use. Instead, models start with 8GB of RAM and can go up 16GB or 32GB of RAM for higher-end models. You can even get higher tier models for the Surface Pro 8 that has a 1TB SDD; also, that’s one other thing, all models now use an SSD, and there is no flash memory option, thankfully.
One of the most significant upgrades for the Surface Pro 8 is its 120Hz display that offers a much smoother user experience. The setback of the higher refresh rate display is that it’s not dynamic, so it’s constantly at 120Hz, which can hurt battery life. With all these new specs for such a small and easily portable device, using a power bank with the Surface Pro 8 is a good idea. In this guide, we’ve compiled power banks that feature the right charging power and capacity to get your Pro 8 back to full power no matter where you are.
Baseus 65W 20,000mAh Power Delivery Power Bank
The Surface Pro 8 can charge via its Surface Connect port; however, charging from the Surface Connect port is limited with portable charging. It’s better to use either of the USB-C ports on the Pro 8 as they’re more universal ports, and you can more easily find power banks to charge the Surface from the USB-C ports. It would help if you got power banks with enough charging power, a 45W Power Delivery output or higher is the way to go.
The first power bank we’re recommending is this Baseus portable charger with a 20,000mAh power capacity. This capacity is the base of what you should expect from a power bank because the Surface Pro 8 has a 6,200mAh battery; this means that this Baseus power bank can charge the Pro 8 to full power about two times. It may not even get the Pro 8 to full power two times because power capacity is lost during charging due to heat and the transition of power from the charger to the device you’re charging.
So you can expect about 1.5 full charges if we’re being more realistic, and definitely if you’re using the Pro 8 while charging it.
Charging power is not lacking, as this Baseus power bank has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port and USB-A Quick Charge port for its output charging. A 65W charge rate is perfect for the Pro 8, and you can use either of the USB-A ports for fast charging an Android smartphone because they both feature Quick Charge.
Charging power is lessened from the USB-C PD port when charging multiple devices, as the 65W becomes 45W, but that’s still enough to charge the Surface.
Recharging the power bank is as good as its output because you can restore it at 60W with a 60W Power Delivery wall charger. The PD wall charger is not provided, though. You may also use the Micro-USB input port for recharging, but it’s much slower, so it’s best to use the USB-C port for recharging.
Not charging related, but this power bank also has an LCD at the top that shows the remaining power capacity and charging status for input and output. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-A cable. Unfortunately, there is no USB-C to USB-C cable in the box.

Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank
This Excitrus portable charger is a rare power bank because it has a 9,600mAh capacity, yet it has a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port. Most power banks with a 45W or higher PD charge rate are at the 20,000mAh capacity range. Of course, the downside of a 9,600mAh power capacity is that you can only charge the Surface Pro 8 to full power or near its full power only once, then it’s going to need to be recharged.
Output charging and the form factor of this power bank is the more impressive part. As we mentioned, this power bank has a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port for charging the Pro 8, and the 45W Power Delivery port can be used to charge many USB-C laptops. There are also two USB-A Quick Charge ports on the power bank. The power bank also has a mini size with a length of just 4.3 inches, a width of 2.5 inches, and a thickness of 0.9 inches. The size makes it possible to fit the power bank into a pocket.
To the side of the Excitrus power bank is an LCD screen that shows power capacity level, and included in the box with the power bank is a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable. So you’re getting nearly everything to use the power bank right out of the box, except for a wall charger to recharge it. Recharging is the same as the output, so you recharge the power bank at 45W.

MAXOAK 26,756mAh AC Power Bank with Power Delivery
This is MAXOAK charger is a bit different than a regular power bank because it uses an AC outlet. The use of an outlet makes the power bank much larger than standard power banks. However, the reliability that you’re getting from this MAXOAK power bank is higher. The unit has a 26,756mAh power capacity that can charge the Surface Pro 8 to full power about two times. The output charging from this power bank is more impressive, though, as you can use one of two ways to charge your Pro 8.
One method of charging your Surface Pro 8 is via the AC outlet, and you can do this by plugging the Surface Connect charger that came with your Pro 8 into the AC outlet on the power bank. This can leave the two USB-C ports on your Surface free for other connectivity needs. If you don’t have your Surface Connect charger, you may also use a wall charger to connect to the AC outlet, but that’s unnecessary because this MAXOAK power bank has a USB-C Power Delivery port.
The USB-C port has a 45W charging speed that lets you directly charge the Surface Pro 8. Two USB-A Quick Charge ports can be used to fast charge Android smartphones.
As we mentioned before, this power bank is much larger and heavier than a standard one, so there’s no way you’re placing it into your pocket. That said, it’s just small enough for being portable every day. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable and a 45W Power Delivery wall charger that can be used to recharge the power bank and can be used to charge your Surface Pro 8 directly.

Crave PowerPack 50,000mAh 60W Power Delivery Power Bank
The highest capacity power bank that you can find without an AC outlet is this Crave PowerPack portable charger, with this one packing a 50,000mAh power capacity. Yes, that’s tons of power, and it does make the charger considerably larger than a lower capacity power bank with a 20,000mAh or 30,000mAh capacity.
A 50,000mAh power capacity is just what you may need if you’re someone who doesn’t want to recharge their power bank every time you use it. That’s what it’s like using this Crave power bank because it can charge the Surface Pro 8 to full power about three times or more without needing to be recharged. This gives you days to use the power bank and can be helpful if you’re traveling, on a road trip, or somewhere you can’t recharge a power bank.
Charging power is on par with its power capacity, with this Crave PowerPack having four outputs. There are two USB-C Power Delivery ports and two USB-A Quick Charge ports. One USB-C PD port has an 18W charging rate, meant for charging smartphones, and the other USB-C port has a 60W output meant for charging your Surface Pro 8 and most other USB-C laptops or tablets.
You can recharge the power bank from either the 18W or 60W USB-C ports, but we recommend using the 60W USB-C port for recharging. Included in the box is a 45W USB-C Power Delivery wall charger that can be used to recharge the massive 50,000mAh power capacity, and it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Like we said, this Crave power bank is more prominent with a length of 8 inches, a width of 5 inches, and a thickness of 1 inch. It weighs 4 pounds. It is large and heavy but worth it for its massive amounts of power.

Fanttik 2000 Amp Portable Jump Starter with 65W USB-C Power Delivery
Recommending a portable jump starter is unusual because a jump-starter power bank usually doesn’t have a strong enough Power Delivery port for charging laptops. We’re recommending this one Fanttik jump-starter because it does have a strong enough Power Delivery port.
Surprisingly, the Fanttik power bank has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A Quick Charge port. Like we said, most jump-starter power banks don’t have such powerful USB-C ports; in our tests, we could charge a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 laptop with the 65W PD port from this power bank, so it will be able to charge your Surface Pro 8.
The power bank does have a 20,000mAh power capacity that fits into charging your Surface Pro 8. There’s also the feature of this power bank being able to jump-start most vehicles with a 2000 Amp Peak current. We know the main reason to purchase this power bank is for jump-starting cars, in case you ever need to, but the usage of such a powerful USB-C PD port is incredibly rare that having this power bank as your daily charger is possible.
