If you’re someone that always wants their device to have power and even for their power banks to constantly have power, then a high capacity portable charger is probably what you’re looking for.

Sure, the size and weight of these kinds of power banks are larger and they weigh more. However, the power capabilities of these chargers can far outweigh what they have to offer with their power capacity and charge speeds. This is why it’s best to get a charger that has a high power capacity because it’ll be able to last longer.

This is the iXCC 20,000mAh power bank. We’ve already reviewed one of their 8,000mAh portable chargers and even though it was really small and light for its size, the power capacity suffered during charge because of heating problems.

Let’s see how this one fares.

Power Capacity:

So it starts with an initial power capacity of 20,000mAh and that is going to change depending on how you’re using the charger and what the power bank features.

This is because the iXCC charger makes use of Lithium Polymer batteries which tend to result in a worse conversion rate than Lithium-Ion batteries. Also, the charging speeds are fast with each charging port being able to output 5V/2.4A and the Max Output of the charger is 3.4A.

So if you’re using all the max power that the charger is capable of then that can result in an Output power capacity of about 16,000mAh that you can use.

With that said, 16,000mAh of power is still a lot of power because you’re going to be able to charge smartphones multiple times over, and if you’re only charging smartphones then that can make the power bank last with power for numerous days or even weeks depending on how many times you’re using it to charge smartphones.

Of course, the power capacity also able to charge tablets and this goes for both Mini and Full-Sized tablets. You’ll be able to charge Mini tablets about 2 times over and full-Sized tablets will be able to charge 1.5 times.

However, it’s important to know that if you’re solely using this portable charger to charge tablets, then it’s best to use keep the power bank at its full power capacity for the best experience.

As you can tell, even though power is lost during charging, there’s still lots of power to charge lots of devices lots of times.

Output Charging:

We realize that it doesn’t have the highest Max Output because the max Output that it’s capable of is 3.4A and most 20,000mAh power banks have a 4.8A Max Output so they can use the full potential of both charging ports.

However, it’s the way that the power bank carries out its charging is what makes it better than most.

This is because each of the 2 charging ports is capable of a charging speed of 5V/2.4A. that’s a Max standard charging speed that will be able to charge most of your smartphones and tablets at their max charging speeds.

Although it will not charge Quick Charge devices at their max charging speeds because these power banks don’t have Quick Charge.

Most of the time when a power bank has a Max Output of 3.4A, only one charging port can Output 2.4A and the other one output of 1.0A, and then it’s stated that the Max Output is an amazing 3.4A.

Not with this one, though, since each of the 2 charging ports is capable of 2.4A, this means that the charging current is shared and when you’re charging 2 devices at once, there’s less of a compromise of what device charges faster or slower.

Not with this one, though, since each of the 2 charging ports is capable of 2.4A, this means that the charging current is shared and when you’re charging 2 devices at once, there’s less of a compromise of what device charges faster or slower.

So if you’re using the Max Output of 3.4A and you’re using 2 of the charging ports, the Max Output out of each charging port will be 1.7A, which is better than just a single Amp. This can make charging 2 devices at once not such a bad thing.

Input Charging:

The recharge is speed could use some work because it just uses a Micro-USB Input port that can recharge the iXCC power bank at a 5V/2.0A charging speed.

So if you’re using a 2 amp wall charger, then it will be fully recharged within 10-11 hours. A charging speed of 5V/2.4A or higher would be more appropriate for a 20,000mAh power bank.

Design

Size and Weight:

With its large power capacity, the power bank is bound to be large as well, but it’s at least somewhat easy to hold since it uses Polymer batteries.

It has a length of 6.4 inches, a width of 2.9 inches, and a thickness of 0.8 inches. What makes it difficult to carry around in a single hand isn’t the size of it, rather, it’s the weight of the power bank because it weighs 15 ounces.

Functional Components:

Just like many iXCC power banks, this one is very easy to use since it has all of its functional parts on the same side. This means that it has its 2 USB Output charging ports, the Micro-USB Input port, 4 LED Power capacity indicators, and power button all on the same side.

Charging automatically starts when you plug a device into either of the charging ports and charging stops when there isn’t a device connected to the power bank or when the device you’re charging is fully charged. This leaves the power button with the main function of simply checking the power capacity.

Build

Structure and Material:

The centerpiece of the power bank is made of Aluminum and the 2 side panels are made of plastic. It’s perfect for everyday use but by no means is this power bank a rugged one and you should be careful not to drop it.

Tech:

It doesn’t have overheating problems so that’s good, and as a result, this leaves the power bank needing improvements with what batteries it uses. Although if it were to use Pansonic or LG batteries, that would make the charger thicker. It uses lots of safety protections to keep you and your devices safe during charging.

Reliability

For the most part, we find the iXCC 20,000mAh portable charger to be very reliable. With its Output power capacity being useful to charge a wide array of devices plenty of times over and the charging speeds that are versatile through each charging port.

No matter what you’re charging with the iXCC charger you’re bound to get a pretty good charging speed since the charging speed of 2.4 Amps isn’t isolated to just a single port and that means charging 2 devices can be very reliable.

The size is rather large and heavy but nothing too serious that’ll stop you from taking it anywhere.

Power:

The power capacity is enough to charge smartphones many times over that make the charger last with its power capacity for days and even a week.

Charging tablets multiple times over is also possible. Speeds of charging aren’t restrained to each port and that makes charging very useful.

The recharging speed could use some work.

Design:

It’s a large and heavy portable charger. However, it is easy to use because charging automatically starts and stops without really needing to use the power button.

Build:

The centerpiece is made of Aluminum and the 2 side panels are made of plastic. It’s perfect for everyday use but doesn’t go dropping it.

Reliability:

With its high power capacity and unrestrained charging speeds, we find this power bank to be very useful for charging many devices.
