(Last Updated On: March 13, 2018)

Even though wireless charging is not as superior as wired charging since it has slower charging speeds, the convince factor of just laying your smartphone on an object and have it charge is very nice to have. Where with other chargers you have to grab a charging cable and input it into your smartphone. That said, there are many wireless chargers on the market that are just flat and most of the time they’re really small that the center of the your smartphone is really the only part that touches them.

That’s why there are wireless charging stands that have your smartphone still charge wirelessly but it also makes your smartphone stand at an upright angle. Therefore you can more easily use your smartphone while it charges. This Spigen F300W wireless charger is just that, it’s one of the most purchased wireless charging stands on Amazon. There are quite a lot of questions about it, so in this review, we’re going to go over what it’s really capable of. So let’s take a closer look.

Power

Output Charging:

First off, charging speed with wireless chargers are slower than with wired charging that you’re able to get from other charging electronics such as wall chargers or portable chargers. In this case, this Spigen wireless charger actually uses standard wireless charging, but there are still many people that purchase it this thinking that it’s capable of Fast Wireless charging.

It has standard wireless charging because this Spigen F300W charger requires that you use a 2 Amp wall charger or higher and so it can output 5V/1.0A. A 1 amp charging speed isn’t even close to a max charging rate for modern smartphones that are Qi compatible. As most smartphones such as Android and iPhones are compatible with either Quick Charge and USB-C Power Delivery.

On the other hand, there’s Fast Wireless charging, which this F300W wireless charger DOES NOT use. The wireless chargers that do use Fast Wireless charging use a Quick Charge wall charger to be powered. That results in a charging rate of 5V/2.0A for the device that you’re charging. That said, Fast Wireless charging is only compatible with Qi Compatible Samsung smartphones and the new iPhone X and iPhone 8.

So even though this Spigen wireless charger features a standard wireless charging speed, if you own a Qi-compatible smartphone that isn’t a Samsung or iPhone, then it doesn’t matter. However, if you do own a Samsung smartphone or the iPhone X or iPhone 8 and want the fastest wireless charging that you can get, then we recommend getting a Fast Wireless charger that can charge them at a faster rate in terms of wireless charging.

Input Charging:

This Spigen wireless charger uses a Micro-USB input port and you must use a 2 Amp wall charger or higher to ensure that this charger works like it’s supposed to. The charger does not come with an AC adapter, but we recommend getting an Anker PowerPort 2 wall charger. That’s because it has two charging ports with each of the ports outputting 5V/2.4A and the max output is 4.8A.

Design

Size and Weight:

There are no problems when it comes to placing this wireless charging stand on a computer desk or basically being able to put it anywhere that you want to. Heck, you purchase a few and have each one for a different room in your house if you wanted to. The height of the charger is 7.5 inches, the width is 3.3 inches, and the depth is 0.7 inches. The weight of the charger is 9.8 Ounces.

Functional Components:

One of the best things about wireless chargers is just how easy they are to use. All you have to do is just plug the Micro-USB charging cable into the back and then you’re ready to just place your smartphone either vertically or horizontally on this charger and it will start charging.

Yeah, so one of the main strengths of this Spigen wireless charger is its three charging coils inside. So that means it has a better connection with the coil that’s inside your smartphone and therefore you’re able to turn the orientation of your smartphone.

At the bottom of the charger is where there’s a LED light that has two colors, with Blue and Red. The Blue color means that the smartphone is charging, while the red color means that the charger is in idle mode and awaiting charging. For the most part, you can’t even see the light unless you’re actually looking for it and even so, in the dark, the LED light is actually very dim so it won’t be a disturbance while you’re sleeping.

Build

Structure and Material:

The entire charger is made of plastic and it’s all just a single piece. Near the bottom where your smartphone goes there’s a rubber barrier so that your phone doesn’t slide around and there’s also a few rubber pads at the bottom to make sure the wireless charger itself doesn’t slide around.

Tech:

On the tech side, the charger does get a little warm but that’s basically the case with most wireless chargers as that’s what inductive charging basically does.

Reliability

If you own a smartphone that isn’t a Samsung or iPhone X/iPhone 8 then we highly recommend getting this Spigen wireless charger as it’ll offer an optimum charging experience. However, if you do own a Samsung or iPhone 8 or iPhone X, then we recommend going for a Fast Wireless charger as this one isn’t capable of that, and therefore it will charge those smartphones at a slower rate than what you could really be getting.

Summary:

Power:

Charging power is standard with wireless charging but it’s not capable of Fast Wireless Charging.

Design:

It has a small design and it’s very easy to use just as all wireless chargers are. There’s a single LED light that switches between to colors and it’s barely even noticeable. Another great thing about this charger is its use of 3 charging coils which allows you to place your smartphone either vertically or horizontally.

Build:

The build quality of this charger is pretty good with it’s use of rubber to prevent your smartphone and the wireless charger itself from sliding around.

Reliability:

It’s a very reliable charger with its use of 3 coils, but one of its most unreliable factors is that it’s not capable of fast charging.
