USB-C Power Delivery has been one of the best advancements for charging recently because it allows you to use a single charger to charge many devices. Pair Power Delivery with Gallium Nitride (GaN), and you end up with small chargers that can output tons of power. What’s left is an easy and accessible charging experience you can depend on for years. Most modern devices are compatible with USB-C charging now, and only more will become compatible.

In this review, we’re looking at this UGREEN 140W GaN Power Delivery wall charger. Suppose you heavily depend on USB-C charging, want the ability to charge multiple devices simultaneously, and need powerful charging. In that case, this Nexode 140W charger may be the one to go with.

Power

Output Charging:

So this charger has a 140W max output, two USB-C Power Delivery ports, and a single USB-A port.

USB-C 1 (bottom USB-C port) can output 140W when charging a single device, USB-C 2 (top USB-C port) can output 100W when charging one device, and the USB-A port can output 22.5W.

So charging power from both USB-C ports changes depending on how many devices you’re charging, except for the USB-A port, as the USB-A port always outputs 22.5W no matter how many devices you’re charging simultaneously.

If you charge from the USB-A port and the USB-C 1 port, then the output of the USB-C 1 port drops from 140W to 100W; not much of a hit to the power output from the USB-C 1 port. Charging from the USB-A and the USB-C 2 port maintains the 100W output from USB-C 2, so there are no compromises on charging power.

When charging from both USB-C ports simultaneously, each will output 65W, which is a pretty steep drop, but a 65W Power Delivery charge rate can still charge most laptops at a fast speed. This means you can easily charge two laptops with this Nexode charger.

Charging from all ports simultaneously results in USB-C 1 outputting 65W, USB-C 2 45W, and the USB-A port outputting 22.5W. So even when charging three devices simultaneously, a split of power still allows you to charge laptops and fast charge a phone.

In our test, we could charge the Lenovo laptop at its max speed alone via USB-C 1, no surprise. Then we connected a Galaxy Note 9 to USB-C 2 and an LG G7 to the USB-A port. The Note 9, LG G7, and Lenovo laptops could charge at their max speed.

We then connected a Galaxy S20 in place of Note 9, and the S20 was able to super fast charge at 25W because this UGREEN charger features PPS up to 105W.

So charging power, port selection, and power allocation with this Nexode 140W charger are top-tier.

Design

Size and Weight:

For a 140W charger, this is a tiny one. It has a length/width of 2.9 inches and a thickness of 1 inch. The charger weighs 10 ounces. With its foldable plug, it’s straightforward to take this charger anywhere. A lot better than dealing with a charging brick, and this Nexode charger can charge multiple devices simultaneously.

Functional Components:

All you have to do is plug in the charger, and it’s ready to use. One thing missing is an LED power light, which is fine but could be nice.

Build

Structure and Material:

The build quality of this UGREEN charger is one of the best on the market. UGREEN has built up its reputation over the years, and at this point, its build quality matches up to Anker, if not better. This charger looks and feels premium to use.

Tech:

If you’re charging a high-wattage device, this charger will get warm. This charger got a bit warm when charging three devices, but that was about it.

Reliability

As we mentioned at the beginning of this review, this is the charger you want to charge nearly all USB-C chargeable devices. USB-C laptops, phones, tablets, and any other USB-C devices you’ve got.

Using only two USB-C ports may seem too little, but the power output is enormous and can charge most devices at their max speed. Including a USB-A port is a nice touch if you have USB-A cables.

Also, this charger comes with a 1.5-meter braided USB-C to USB-C cable and is incredibly high quality.

Summary:

Power:

This Nexode charger has a max output of 140W, and the power allocation of that output is excellent because it still lets you fast charge multiple devices simultaneously.

Design:

This charger is tiny for a 140W charger, but its foldable plug makes portability even easier.

Build:

The build quality of this UGREEN charger is one of the best on the market and matches up to Anker or can be considered better.

Reliability:

If you have USB-C chargeable devices, you can’t go wrong with this Nexode 140W charger because of its power output, port selection, power allocation, and the inclusion of a USB-C to USB cable. It uses nearly every fast charging protocol that you can think of.
