VOLTME 35W Dual USB-C PD Charger Review

A balanced Power Delivery charger is the way to go if you don’t want an insanely powerful charger that can charge everything, as those can be expensive. Instead, some PD chargers can meet the right power need for charging large and small devices.

I’m looking at this VOLTME 35W dual USB-C wall charger in this review. The charger has an interesting single and dual power output, so let’s look closer.

Charging Power

There are two USB-C ports on this VOLTME charger, and when you’re charging a single device at a time, the max output is 35W. This allows you to use more power if you need it to charge certain laptops or other devices. When charging two devices at the same time, each of the USB-C ports output 18W, and the max output is 36W.

So if you have a USB-C chargeable laptop and want to charge it faster, you would charge it alone via this VOLTME charger. However, certain laptops will charge slowly even with a 35W Power Delivery charge rate.

 

In my testing, I charged a Lenovo laptop alone, and the 35W charging speed was not enough to fast charge it and considered it a slow charger, so my laptop charged at only 5W. A more useful laptop to charge alone with this charger would be a Macbook because it has a wider range of wattage that it can accept.

So to test out the actual PD output, I first plugged in my Excitrus power bank and pulled the 35W of Powe Delivery for single port charging. While charging my Excitrus power bank, I plugged in my Baseus power bank, and the two were charging at 18W.

I also plugged in Galaxy Note 9 while charging my Excitrus power bank. It could fast charge, while the Excitrus power bank slowed to an 18W charge rate.

For my final test, I charged my Galaxy Note 9 and LG G7, which could both fast charge simultaneously.

Design and Size

This is a GaN charger, making it so tiny, with just about 1-inch dimensions. So it’s very easy to take anywhere; however, the charger does not have a foldable plug and instead has the old-school fixed AC plugs. This came as a surprise to me, as chargers usually have foldable plugs.

Conclusion

If you want a dual USB-C charger that has a high amount of power when charging a single device and can also fast charge two phones if needed, then this VOLTME charger is a good choice. Single port charging power wasn’t enough to fast charge Lenovo laptops, but it can be faster for certain laptops, such as Macbooks. Dual 18W PD output is useful for fast charging two devices simultaneously.
