Best Chargers for Surface Laptop 5 in 2024

(Last Updated On: December 7, 2023)

The Surface Connect port on Microsoft Surface devices may seem unnecessary, but it’s nice because Surface Connect chargers are magnetic, so if they get pulled, the charging cable gets pulled the most, not the device. That said, the Surface Connect charging is not as accessible because you may want to charge via USB-C, and that’s a big plug with modern Surface devices in general, which would be the fact that you can charge them from the USB-C port.

In this guide, I’ve chosen a couple of USB-C chargers that would work well for charging the Surface Laptop 5. Included in the box with the Surface Laptop 5 is a Surface Connect charger, but if you’re looking for alternative USB-C chargers for the laptop, this guide covers just that.

UGREEN 140W GaN 3 Port Charger

The UGREEN 140W charger is one of the most powerful chargers I’ve ever reviewed and a few others. This UGREEN charger can quickly charge your Surface laptop even if you’re simultaneously charging from all the ports. So, to ensure you get the fastest charging speed possible, I recommend charging from USB-C 1 or USB-C 2 alone, as C-1 has a 140W output and C-2 has a 100W output when charging one device.

The USB-A port always has a 22.5W charging rate, no matter how many devices you charge.

The great part is that even when charging three devices simultaneously, the output for USB-C 1 is 65W; this still lets you charge the Surface Laptop 5 at a fast charge rate. This UGREEN charger also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, allowing you to use it right out of the box. NOVOO 67W PD 2 Port Charger

The NOVOO 67W PD charger is a simpler charger with a USB-C port and a USB-A port. The USB-C port can output a total 67W of Power Delivery when charging a single device, so I recommend charging your Surface Laptop 5 alone from this charger. That said, when dual port charging, the USB-C port outputs 45W, and the USB-A port outputs 18W.

So charging two devices simultaneously does slow down the charging speed for your Surface Laptop, but just a bit. This NOVOO charger is also tiny, with a foldable plug and 1-inch dimensions. For a detailed analysis, read my review article or watch my video review of the NOVOO 67W PD 2 Port Charger.

VOLTME 140W 3 Port PD Charger

One other 140W charger I wanted to recommend is the VOLTME 140W charger. Yes, this is the same as the previous UGREEN 140W charger I recommended, but this one has slightly better power allocation. With this VOLTME charger, you can use 140W from USB-C 1 and 100W from USB-C 2 when charging a single device.

What’s better with this VOLTME charger is that it can output 65W of Power Delivery from both USB-C ports when charging two devices simultaneously. This way, you can fast charge the Surface Laptop 5 and potentially fast charge another laptop. Discover more in my review article or video review of the VOLTME 140W 3 Port PD Charger.

Unitek 100W GaN 4 Port Charger

If you want more ports for charging more devices simultaneously, this Unitek 4 port charger can do just that; however, to get the best charging speed for your Surface Laptop 5, you must pay attention to the power allocation.

If you’re charging a single device from USB-C 1 or USB-C 2 at a time, you can get 100W of Power Delivery. When charging two devices, and you’re using either USB-C 1 or UBS-C 2, you can at least get 65W from the ports.

Four-port charging does slow down from USB-C 1 to 45W, so the charging speed for your Surface Laptop 5 will slow down quite a bit. Check out my review article or video review for an in-depth look at the Unitek 100W GaN 4 Port Charger.

INIU 65W PD 25,000mAh Power Bank

A Power Delivery power bank is a must if you own a USB-C laptop because one of the best parts of USB-C PD charging is that you can easily charge devices from many different chargers. This INIU power bank has a 65W USB-C PD port that can be used to charge your Surface Laptop 5. There is also a 30W USB-C port and a Quick Charge port.

The 25,000mAh capacity will be able to charge the Surface Laptop to full power at least once, and you may have spare capacity. Baseus Blade 100W PD Power Bank

The Baseus Blade charger has been popular mainly because of its charging and design. This Baseus power bank has a 100W Power Delivery port that can fast charge the Surface Laptop; it also has a 65W recharging speed but does not come with a wall charger.

Design-wise, this power bank looks pretty cool with its slim form factor, and it can show the voltage and amperage during charging. For further information, read my review article or watch my video review of the Baseus Blade 100W PD Power Bank.

Baseus 65W PD Car Charger

As strange as it sounds, you can also charge your Surface while driving with a powerful enough car charger. This Baseus car charger has a 65W PD output from its USB-C port when charging a single device. When charging two devices, the USB-C output drops to 45W, still letting you charge the Surface but at a slower speed. For more info about this Baseus car charger, take a look at my review article.
