(Last Updated On: September 28, 2020)

Most power banks can have different charging abilities and it’s quite normal for that to happen. Some power banks have 2 charging ports, some have a USB port and a USB-C port or some have 3 ports that are all different.

The main reason that a power bank has lots of ports is that we have a lot of devices that we use daily that are wireless. As a result, we need power banks that are capable of charging multiple devices at once.

With that said, there’s one device that doesn’t get too much attention when it comes to the charging that power banks can offer, and that would be wearable watches.

This Belkin Valet Power Bank solves the problems because it’s one of the few power banks that has a built-in Magnetic charging cable that can charge an Apple Watch.

Power Capacity:

The power capacity initially starts at 6,700mAh, and you’re able to get an average conversion rate out of the power capacity.  The usual case with determining the Output power capacity of power banks like these is by doing just a small equation like this:

3.7 x 6,700 / 5  and that will result in an Output power capacity of about 4,900mAh that you can use. It’s quite an average conversion, however, you may get a lower Output power capacity if you’re charging 2 devices at once because that’s more energy being lost at the same time.

Power Capacity for Smartphones:

For the most part, this power bank is mostly meant to be used for smartphones and the Apple Watch, because of the power capacity isn’t absurdly high. So you’re able to get about 2 full charges for most smartphones and this is true for even high capacity smartphones.

Power Capacity for the Apple Watch:

The Apple Watch and any other wearable on the market have very small batteries, which is why they have very tiny power capacities. So the Apple Watch has a capacity of 250mAh and the Apple Watch Sport has a 205mAh capacity.

So if you’re solely using the power bank to charge an Apple Watch, the Belkin Valet power bank can charge it about 15 times to its full power before needing a recharge.

As a result, the power bank holds most of its value with charging an Apple Watch, because most power banks don’t feature this type of charging option.

As this Belkin Apple Watch power bank has the feature and a high enough power capacity; solely using it with your Apple Watch while you’re traveling makes the most sense.

Output Charging:

The charging speed of the USB port is 5V/1.0A and it’s a pretty slow charging speed that won’t charge most smartphones at their max charging speeds.

With that said, the Magnetic charging plate for your Apple Watch can charge an Apple Watch at its max charging speed, because the Magnetic plate also Outputs 5V/1.0A speed of charging.

So once again, most of the charging abilities of this power bank are aimed towards the Apple Watch.

Input Charging:

Surprisingly, the recharge is very powerful for this power bank and that’s because it has a max recharge rate of 5V/2.4A through its Micro-USB Input port.

You must use a 2.4A USB Wall charger to recharge this power bank as fast as possible and that will result n a recharge time of 3-4 hours only.

Design

Size and Weight:

It’s a very portable power bank and that’s a good aspect as you can charge your Apple Watch wherever you go.

It has a length of 4.7 inches, a width of 1.6 inches, and a thickness of 0.9 inches. The weight of it is 7 ounces. So it’s small enough that you place it in your pocket or you can carry it in your hand for when you’re on-the-go.

Functional Components:

Almost all of the functional parts of the power bank are on a single side.

On the side of the power bank is where there’s the USB port, the Micro-USB Input port, and 4 Green LED power capacity indicators. On top is where there’s the Magnetic charging plate.

Surprisingly, there’s no power button, as you can just plug a device into a USB port and it’ll automatically begin charging and you simply place your Apple Watch the Magnetic cable, and charging automatically starts.

Once charging starts the LED indicators lights turn on for a while and then turn off; which is somewhat of a good and bad feature. It’s a good feature because power is conserved once the indicators are off, but you need to restart charging if you want the lights to turn on again.

Build

Structure and Material:

One part of the power bank is made of Aluminum and the other part is made of plastic. Ultimately, the power bank has a solid structure that can be used every day but it’s not shockproof and won’t be able to take falls onto the hard flooring.

Tech:

On the tech side, it does a good job of using the necessary safety tech to keep charging safe even when you’re using both charging abilities at the same time.

Reliability

This is one of few power banks that uses an Apple Watch Magnetic Charger, and even though it has a USB port, the power bank is most reliable for when you’re using an Apple Watch to charge it with.

Using this power bank to solely charge a smartphone is not ideal, as neither the capabilities nor the price match.

Summary:

Power:

Charging through the USB port is more of a side thing, as you’re able to charge an Apple Watch which is very convenient and the power capacity can charge an Apple Watch about 15 times to full power.

Design:

It’s small enough to fit into your pocket or you can hold it in your hand. Charging automatically starts.

Build:

The build is strong and solid, but you shouldn’t go treating this power bank as a rugged portable charger.

Reliability:

Get this power bank if you own an Apple Watch.
