Power Delivery chargers come in all sorts of sizes, with different charging power and a different amount of ports. Some of them have a single port, while some Power Delivery chargers have multiple USB-C ports and a few USB-A ports. One of the most common types of Power Delivery chargers on the market are ones that use a single USB-C PD port, with these chargers being able to fast charge devices and are super small.

In this review, we’re going to be taking a look at this PowerAdd 18W Power Delivery mini wall charger. This is one of the smallest PD wall chargers we have ever reviewed, and probably one of the smallest on the market.

Power

Output Charging:

The charging from this PowerAdd wall charger is super simple, and that’s because it only uses a single USB-C Power Delivery port. The Power Delivery port has an 18W charging speed, and this much PD charging power is going to be most useful for fast charging smartphones.

Many devices these days are compatible Power Delivery, as many laptops are compatible with the charging tech, so are tablets and of course, smartphones. That said, most laptops are not able to charge using an 18W Power Delivery charging speed, and instead, you’re better off using a 30W Power Delivery charger or higher.

In this case, we tried to charge a Lenovo Flex 5 laptop with this PowerAdd wall charger, and unfortunately, the laptop was not able to charge correctly. Charging would start and stop constantly.

We then switched over to charging a Microsoft Surface Go tablet which has a USB-C Power Delivery port, and the tablet was able to charge with this PowerAdd 18W charger. That said, the Surface Go was not able to charge at its max charging speed of 40W, as this charger only has an 18W port, so we were getting either 13W to 15W speeds.

Then we moved onto charging smartphones with this PD wall charger and that’s where this PowerAdd wall charger performs the strongest. We tested charging it with a Galaxy Note 9 and a Google Pixel, and both phones were able to fast charge using this Power Delivery wall charger.

Size and Weight:

The first thing that you’re going to notice from this review, and especially when you receive this charger is just how small it is. This is a very tiny wall charger, and one of the smallest that we have ever reviewed. It has a length/width of 1.5 inches, and a thickness of 1.1 inches. The weight of the charger is only 1.7 ounces.

Adding in the foldable plug, you have no excuse not to be portable with this wall charger. It can fit into a pocket easily.

Functional Components:

Using this wall charger is as simple as its charging. All you have to do is take the foldable plug out, plug it in and it’s ready to use. There is a blue power light at the top of the charger to show that’s ready to charge.

Build

Structure and Material:

Since it’s such a compact charger, the build quality durable, and you won’t find any easily breakable parts. The foldable plug is the only part that you would have to worry about breaking, but just make you’re only taking it out to plug into an AC outlet and fold it back in when it’s unplugged.

Tech:

Even with its extremely small form factor, this charger does not overheat. An 18W Power Delivery charging speed is quite a lot for this size, but at the same time, it’s not nearly as much to warm up this charger.

Reliability

This wall charger is going to be most reliable for charging smartphones, and not so reliable for charging larger and more powerful devices such as Power Delivery compatible laptops. This is because the 18W Power Delivery port is enough to power for charging smartphones, and laptops require more charging power than that.

Also, just to note, this charger does not come with any cables so you will have to provide your own. You can either use a USB-C to USB-C cable to charge USB-C compatible devices and if you would like to fast charge an iPhone with this charger then you will need a Lightning to USB-C cable.

Summary:

An 18W Power Delivery charging speed is most useful for charging laptops but does not fare so well when it comes to charging PD laptops.

Easily one of the larger highlights of this wall charger, the size of this charger is one of the smallest you will find on the market.

Build:

The build quality of this charger is great, and it doesn’t overheat even with its small size.

It’s a reliable mini Power Delivery wall charger that is perfect for fast charging Power Delivery compatible smartphones.
