Pros

  • Very small size and lightweight
  • Features a 30W USB-C Power Delivery port and a 22W USB-A port

Cons

  • Cannot fast charge two devices simultaneously

The size of chargers these days doesn’t reflect the amount of charging power they’re able to output, thanks to certain technologies that they now use. The wall charger that you use to charge your laptop no longer has to be a charging brick type of charger, and instead, you can practically use the same charger for a smartphone to also charge your laptop.

In this review, we’re taking a look at this INIU 30W mini Power Delivery wall charger that uses a powerful Power Delivery port and USB-A port with a higher output than most other wall chargers.

Power

Output Charging:

Considering the size of the charger, the power output that you’re able to get from this INIU charger is definitely impressive as it can charge a few laptops while still being near the same size as an Apple 5W wall charger.

This wall charger features a USB-A port and a USB-C Power Delivery port, and the best way to use the most power from the charger is to use a single port at a time. That’s because if you’re using both ports simultaneously with this charger, then the max power output becomes 15W, and with both ports sharing 15W, that’s not a lot of power that can fast charge any device.

If you want to make the most of fast charging, it’s best to charge a single device at a time, with the USB-C port being able to output 30W if you’re charging a single device. A 30W PD charging rate can charge a few USB-C chargeable laptops; however, you won’t be able to charge all USB-C laptops with this INIU wall charger because some laptops require that you use a PD charger that outputs more than 30W. In our case, we were able to fast charge a Microsoft Surface Go tablet at about 25W, which is its max charging speed. You can charge a Macbook with this INIU.

Along with a 30W PD charger, the USB-C port also has a 30W Programmable Power Supply fast charging, which can charge the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 smartphones faster.

The USB-A port on this charger has a 22W power output, which basically means that it has Quick Charge to fast charge most Android smartphones. It also has most other fast charging protocols that many phones may be using. So the charging power of this mini wall charger is impressive, but charging two devices at the same time takes those fast charging speeds away, just something to keep in mind.

Design

Size and Weight:

As we mentioned, the charger is tiny, and you won’t be a problem when it comes to being portable with it or taking up space on a wall outlet or a surge protector. It has a length of 1.6 inches, a width of 1.2 inches, and a thickness of 1.2 inches. The weight of the charger is 2.1 ounces.

Functional Components:

The charger does not use a foldable plug, so it’s always ready to be plugged in. That said, using a foldable plug would make this charger very compact and give it a greater selling point. The two ports can be found on the same side, and there is no LED power light.

Build

Structure and Material:

The charger has a great build, especially since it doesn’t use a foldable plug, so it’s just one less part that you have to worry about breaking as foldable plugs have a higher chance of breaking.

Tech:

If you’re using fast charging from this INIU wall charger, then it may heat up a little bit, just as all chargers do.

Reliability

If you’re looking for a wall charger capable of 30W Power Delivery charging and has a Quick Charge USB-A port, then this INIU fast charger may be your best option. A 30W PD charge rate may not be enough to charge all USB-C laptops, and most USB-C laptops can charge faster than 30W, but this charger has a very small size because of its lower power output.

For Macbooks and Chromebooks 30W PD charging is fine, but charging other USB-C laptops may require a higher wattage PD charger; so we recommend going with something more powerful.

Summary:

Power:

Changing power is pretty good with 30W PD output and a USB-A Quick Charge output. The only real setback with the power with this charger is that you can’t fast charge from both ports simultaneously as the max output is 30W.

Design:

The charger is tiny, and even though it doesn’t use a foldable plug, we don’t see why it would need one.

Build:

The charger has a strong build, structurally speaking, and when it comes to staying cool. It stays cool, though, mostly due to its lower max output.

Reliability:

This charger is reliable for charing most USB-C devices. The unreliable part can be if you’re looking to charge USB-C laptops that require more than a 30W PD charging speed actually to charge. If that’s the case, then we recommend going with a more powerful Power Delivery wall charger.
