Best Chargers for Surface Pro 8 in 2024

(Last Updated On: December 19, 2023)

Microsoft’s Surface device lineup has to be one of the most innovative when it comes to portable tech that is insanely powerful while still being incredibly easy to take anywhere. This is the case for the Surface Pro devices, tablet/laptop hybrids that use detachable keyboards, so you can easily switch between the two. With the latest Surface Pro 8, Microsoft has done it again to deliver the best of both worlds and possibly overdelivering in some cases.

You can choose 16GB or 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD storage with higher-tier models. Also, yes, the SSD is standard across all the models, but they vary in size and are easily interchangeable. One of the most notable software features of the Surface Pro 8 is the use of a 120Hz refresh rate display that makes animations on-screen look so much smoother that you’ll have a problem returning to 60Hz. That said, the higher refresh rate can hurt battery life, and we’re hoping that Microsoft will eventually include variable refresh rate settings.

With all these upgrades, one of the most important factors has to remain the same: using a USB-C port to charge from the Surface Pro 8. An accessible way to charge the Pro 8 is possibly one of the best features, especially for small and lightweight devices. In his guide, we’re covering chargers you can use for the Surface Pro 8 that provide a great charging experience.

VOLTME 100W 3 Port Charger

The first charger I recommend for charging your Surface Pro 8 is this VOLTME 100W charger. The charger has a 100W max output and features two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. You can use the total 100W of Power Delivery from either the USB-C 1 or USB-C 2 port, and this is more than enough power to charge your Pro 8 at its maximum speed.

If you’re charging from the two USB-C ports at the same time, then the USB-C 1 port outputs 65W, and the USB-C 2 port outputs 30W; I would recommend charging your Surface from the USB-C 1 port at all times to get the fastest charging rate from the VOLTME charger. When charging three devices simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port continuously outputs 65W, while the C-2 and USB-A ports output 12W each.

So you can still fast charge your Surface Pro 8 from USB-C 1 and simultaneously charge another two devices. For a more comprehensive understanding of the VOLTME 100W 3 Port Charger, read my detailed review article or watch my video review of this product.

UGREEN Nexode 140W 3 Port Charger

This UGREEN 140W charger may take it too far because it has a 140W max output. You can use the total 140W of Power Delivery if you charge a single device from the USB-C 1 port, while the USB-C 2 port outputs 100W when charging a single device. The USB-A port on this charger can always output 22.5W no matter how many devices you’re charging, while the USB-C ports are the only ports that change their charging speed when charging multiple devices.

The main reason to get this charger is that even if you’re charging three devices simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port can output 65W, and the USB-C 2 port can output 45W. You can potentially fast charge your two Surface Pro 8 tablets simultaneously, or you can charge a Surface and another laptop from either of the ports, and you can fast charge an Android phone from the USB-A port.

This UGREEN charger also has a USB-C to USB-C cable rated for 240W. Discover more about the UGREEN Nexode 140W 3 Port Charger in my in-depth review article or by watching my video review.

UGREEN Nexode 100W 4 Port Desktop Charger

Another UGREEN charger I recommend is this UGREEN Nexode 100W desktop charger. The charger has three USB-C ports, a single USB-A port, and a 100W max output. You can use the full 100W of Power Delivery when charging from USB-C 1 or 2 alone. The reason for recommending this charger is because of the number of ports that you charge your Surface Pro 8 and another three devices simultaneously. Also, since this is a desktop charger, it uses a power cord for easier placement.

I recommend charging your Surface Pro 8 from the USB-C 1 port at all times, as that is the port that always has the higher output when charging multiple devices. Even when charging four devices simultaneously, the USB-C 1 port outputs 45W, enough to fast charge your Surface Pro 8, while the USB-C 2 port outputs 30W, and the USB-C 3 and the USB-A ports output 10.5W. Check out my review article or video review for further insights into the UGREEN Nexode 100W 4 Port Desktop Charger.

NOVOO 67W 2 Port Charger

On the simple side, this NOVOO 67W charger has a USB-C and a USB-A port. The USB-A port can output 50W to Android phones compatible with its charging protocol, and the USB-C port can output 67W of Power Delivery when charging a single device at a time. When charging two devices simultaneously, the USB-C port outputs 45W, while the USB-A port outputs 18W. So you can get a faster charging speed for your Surface when charging it alone from the USB-C port, but you also have the option of charging your Surface and a phone from the USB-A port.

This NOVOO charger comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. Explore the features of the NOVOO 67W 2 Port Charger in my detailed review article or video review.

Baseus 65W 20,000mAh USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

Since Microsoft’s Surface Pro lineup is so easy to use, using a portable charger may be your go-to choice for charging the Surface Pro 8. You must ensure that the power bank you’re getting has enough power capacity to charge the Pro 8 to full power at least once and that the USB-C Power Delivery port has a high enough power output.

This Baseus power bank fits your portable charging needs for the Surface Pro 8 pretty well because it has a 20,000mAh power capacity to charge the Pro 8 to full power at about once. You will have leftover power, but not enough for another full recharge.

Charging power is not lacking as the Baseus power bank has a 65W USB-C Power Delivery port that can be used to charge the Surface Pro 8 and a host of other USB-C chargeable devices. Two USB-A Quick Charge ports can be used while you’re charging your Surface, and they can fast charge most Android smartphones.

The Baseus power bank uses a digital display that shows the charging status and remaining power capacity. Please read my review article for a comprehensive analysis of the Baseus 65W Power Bank.

RAVPower 30,000mAh 90W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

Even though RAVPower was booted from Amazon, we still think their products are quality, although their selling methods weren’t. This 30,000mAh portable charger is one of the best for charging larger, more powerful devices that charge via USB-C.

This RAVPower portable charger has a 30,000mAh power capacity that can recharge the Surface Pro 8 to full power about two times if it’s the only device you’re charging with this power bank. There are two powerful ports; the power bank has a 90W USB-C Power Delivery port and a USB-A Quick Charge port. The USB-C port can output 90W only if you’re charging a single device, but when charging two devices, the USB-C PD port outputs 65W, while the USB-A port outputs 18W because the power bank’s max output is 90W.

The better part is that you can quickly recharge the massive 30,000mAh power capacity because the power bank has a 60W recharge rate; make sure you use a 60W PD wall charger or higher.

The box includes a USB-C to USB-C cable that you can use to charge your Surface or recharge the power bank, too. Learn more about the RAVPower 30,000mAh Power Bank by reading my review article.

MAXOAK 45W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank with AC Outlet

If you’re looking for an AC power bank that also uses Power Delivery, this MAXOAK one is a good choice. It doesn’t quite fit into the territory of being a power station because it’s still relatively small. At the same time, it’s larger than a regular power bank but not too large or heavy, and you can likely take it anywhere you want.

This MAXOAK power bank has one 45W USB-C Power Delivery port and two USB-A Quick Charge ports on one side of the power bank. On the other side of the portable charger is where you’ll find the AC outlet that can output 100W; the AC outlet can power a laptop charger or smaller appliances that fit within the 100W power output range.

The power bank comes with a 30W wall charger that you may use to recharge the power bank, and it includes a USB-C to USB-C cable. Check out my review article for detailed information on the MAXOAK 45W Power Bank.

Nekteck 45W USB-C Power Delivery Car Charger

Regarding Power Delivery car chargers, finding one powerful enough to charge a laptop can be somewhat challenging, which is basically what the Surface Pro 8 is. This Nekteck car charger can charge the Pro 8 using a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port. The car charger also has a standard USB-A port with a 12W charge rate, and when charging the two devices together, the Power Delivery port doesn’t lose power because the maximum output of the charger is 57W.

When purchasing this Nekteck car charger, something is different because it includes a USB-C to USB-C cable. Most car chargers don’t have a cable in the box. My review article will give me a deeper understanding of the Nekteck 45W Car Charger.
