Best Power Banks for Surface Laptop 3

Laptops are portable computers and have always had the advantage of being able to anywhere with you. With the portability and using a laptop anywhere you want comes the need to charge your laptop eventually. In the past, you would have to take a DC charging brick with you and then locate the closest AC outlet so you could charge your laptop. Not anymore, with most laptops now using a USB-C port to charge from.

One of the laptops that have done this the best is the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3. Microsoft’s latest laptop has all the latest specs that you can expect, and the laptop also looks great, basically matching aesthetics that you would expect from Apple or Samsung. The best part of the Surface Laptop 3 is how easy it is to charge; with the laptop only using USB-C ports and USB-A ports, you’re able to use nearly any Power Delivery charger to charge it.

Since the Surface Laptop is so slim and lightweight, the best type of charger you can use is a power bank. Many USB-C Power Delivery power banks on the market can charge laptops, such as the Surface Laptop 3, and they ensure that you don’t have to locate an AC outlet to charge your laptop. This makes it, so you don’t get anxious when your laptop is running low on power.

In this guide, we’re covering power banks that you can use to charge Surface Laptop 3 no matter where you are. The power banks in this guide will use USB-C Power Delivery, and they will feature different charging speeds and power capacities to fit based on your needs.

Excitrus 9,600mAh 45W USB-C Power Delivery Mini Power Bank

The Surface Laptop 3 has a 6,047mAh battery, so it’s important to know that you should get a power bank that can charge it to full power at least a single time. This Excitrus power bank is one of the lower capacity portable chargers that features a high Power Delivery charging speed. This features a 45W USB-C Power Delivery charging speed.

A 45W USB-C PD charging speed for charging the Surface Laptop 3 is good, and it’s higher than the common 30W that we would recommend. You can even charge a Surface device via an 18W USB-C port, but that is very low, and you may lose more power than you’re able to charge up. So a 45W charge fits well with the power usage of the Surface.

Along with the PD port, there are also two USB-A ports on this power bank, with one using Quick Charge 3.0 and the other has a standard 12W charging speed.

You may also recharge this power bank at 30W via a Power Delivery wall charger, but this power bank does not come with a PD wall charger, so you have to provide your own. Not exactly charging-related, there is also a digital display that shows the remaining power capacity you have left to use.

The most notable part of this Excitrus power bank is the size, as the charger has a 4-inch length and a thickness of 0.9 inches. It’s basically a laptop charger that you can fit into your pocket, and not many other PD power banks have this small size.

RAVPower 30,000mAh 90W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

As we mentioned before, the Excitrus power bank is a low-capacity portable charger; on the opposite side, there’s this RAVPower 30,000mAh Power Delivery power bank. This RAVPower charger is more on par with what you want to use when charging USB-C chargeable laptops because, with its 30,000mAh power capacity, you’re able to charge the Surface Laptop to full power about three times without having to recharge the power bank. This makes it great to use this charger if you’re traveling, or even if you don’t always have to worry about recharging a power bank all the time.

Not only is the power capacity impressive, but this RAVPower portable charger also has a 90W USB-C Power Delivery port, yes, 90W. This charging speed is uncommon with most Power Delivery power banks, but with a 90W PD charging speed, you’re able to charge the Surface Laptop 3 at its max charging speed.

This power bank also has a USB-A Quick Charge 3.0 port that you can use to fast charge compatible Android smartphones or any other device. If you’re charging two devices simultaneously, then the USB-C PD port outputs 65W, which is still plenty of charging power for the Surface, and many other USB-C chargeable laptops like the Macbook and Chromebooks, too.

You can recharge this power bank at 60W, as we tested in our review, and it was incredible. However, the power bank does not come with a Power Delivery wall charger, so you will have to provide your own. It does come with a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, though.

PowerArc ArckPack 15,000mAh 60W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

Fitting right into the middle compared to the first two power banks mentioned, this PowerArc portable charger has a 15,000mAh power capacity, a decent power capacity that can charge the Surface Laptop 3 to full power a single time. You may have leftover power capacity that you can use to charge the laptop later. You may be confused about why this power bank can charge the laptop only once. That’s because power capacity is lost during charging, especially when you’re using fast charging like Power Delivery.

This PowerArc charger also has two USB-C Power Delivery ports. The second USB-C Power Delivery port is the one that you want to use to charge your Surface Laptop as it’s the one that can output 30W. A decent charging speed that will charge up your laptop even while you’re using it, and you can also use the other USB-C port for charging at the same time, such as fast charging smartphones.

There is a USB-A port that features Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging smartphones. You can use the other USB-C port to fast-charge other USB-C devices, as the power bank’s max output is 60W.

With its 15,000mAh power capacity, the charger is smaller, with a length of 4.5 inches and a thickness of 1 inch. It has an aluminum shell that feels higher quality than most power banks being made of plastic.

MAXOAK 26,756mAh 45W Power Delivery AC Outlet Power Bank

This MAXOAK power bank is slightly different from the other ones in this guide, as this one features an AC outlet. Yes, this charger does have a Triple prong AC outlet that you can use to plug in small appliances, and the AC outlet has a 100W power output, so you can use it to plug in a Power Delivery wall charger of your choosing.

That said, this MAXOAK power bank also has a 45W USB-C Power Delivery port that can be used to charge your Surface Laptop directly. Two Quick Charge 3.0 USB-A ports can be used for fast charging Android smartphones.

This is more of a hybrid portable power station power bank because of its use of an AC outlet, and the charger itself is larger than a regular power bank. It’s very portable, but the use of an outlet does make the charger bigger. The MAXOAOK power bank has a 26,756mAh power capacity, a low capacity for being a power station. Still, it’s good to charge the Surface Laptop to full power at least two times and keep a small form factor for the charger.

Included in the box with the power bank is a 30W Power delivery wall charger that you can use to recharge the power bank and a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Crave PowerPack 50,000mAh 60W USB-C Power Delivery Power Bank

This Crave portable charger is one of the highest capacity Power Delivery power banks that you can find. The charger has a 50,000mAh power capacity, and that is a ton of power even when it comes to charging the Surface Laptop. You can basically use this Crave power bank for about a week or longer without having to recharge it, depending on your usage. A 50,000mAh power capacity can also be useful for charging other devices such as smartphones and tablets to full power while you’re charging your laptop.

The Crave PowerPack has two USB-C Power Delivery ports and two Quick Charge 3.0 USB-A ports. One of the USB-C PD ports has an 18W output, and the other has a 60W output. So it’s best to use the 60W port for charging the Surface Laptop 3 and use the 18W PD port for fast charging smartphones.

You can recharge the power bank at 45W via the 60W USB-C port, and you can do so right out of the box because this power bank comes with a 45W Power Delivery wall charger and a USB-C cable.

The power bank itself is huge and heavy, portable still, but you’re not going to want to hold it for a long duration.
